Chapter 333: Chapter 334: Fearing Pain Even in Death_1 Chapter 333: Chapter 334: Fearing Pain Even in Death_1 Muniang sneered, “Where do so many riffraff come from? Too embarrassed to admit you got taught a lesson?”
“Who taught the lesson?”
Muniang suddenly thought of Nangong Qian. With his haughty and lofty character, he most likely couldn’t stand the likes of Qiao Yuanzhen, but she didn’t plan to mention him. He was no good either!
“How badly was Qiao Yuanzhen injured?” Muniang asked coldly.
“Quite badly, it seems he can’t even get up from bed,” Qingya actually looked down on him. Such scum deserved to be beaten every couple of days.
Muniang sneered again, “Since our two families are now in such a good relationship, we can’t fail to visit the sick, can we,”
A chill ran down Qingya’s back, giving her a shudder. This was a sign that Lady was about to erupt in anger.
At the Qiao family, the Qiao Parents still had no idea what had happened, but with their son’s fiery temper, they didn’t dare to ask too much, and had to hurry to summon a doctor for a look.
When Muniang arrived, the two elders were still oblivious, eagerly opening the door for Muniang.
“Muniang, you’ve finally come. How did our Yuanzhen get beaten again? Don’t you know the County Chief? Why don’t you talk to the County Chief, let him thoroughly investigate this case, and make sure to bring the criminal to justice! Even Mr. Scholar dared to be beaten, it’s simply suicidal!” Madam Zhao said indignantly.
Muniang curved her lips slightly, “Grandma, rest assured, I’ll take care of this matter. I will make sure that the County Chief brings him to justice.”
Only then did Madam Zhao feel relieved, “Yuanzhen is in the back room. Go in and take a look. It’s so distressing to see him in such a state.”
Muniang turned and went in, her smile vanishing completely. Looking at Qiao Yuanzhen lying on the bed, indeed, he was beaten to a breathless state, struggling even to breathe.
Madam Zhao warmly said, “Yuanzhen, look, Muniang has come to see you in person. She even said that she will seek justice for you from the County Chief, so the criminals are brought to law. You can rest assured.”
Qiao Yuanzhen glared at Qiao Muniang with round eyes, full of fear, “No, no, don’t let her—”
“Fourth Uncle, you’re really quite injured. You better rest well and not talk so much. I know you feel wronged. Rest assured, your niece here will definitely seek justice for Fourth Uncle,” Muniang’s smile was pervaded by a sinister aura.Madam Zhao chimed in to support, “Yeah yeah, Yuanzhen, you relax. With Muniang saying so, don’t be too angry; it’s not good to joke with your own health.”
Qiao Yuanzhen was now panicked. After doing what he did to Qiao Muniang, now that she was here in person, wasn’t she here to kill him? But he couldn’t even speak; he was choking up just trying to get a breath.
Muniang said, “Grandma, Fourth Uncle has always had a bit of a temper. Perhaps he can’t stand having so many people here bothering his quiet. Grandma, you’d better go out quickly. I’ll ask about things and then tell you.”
Madam Zhao, suspecting nothing, hurried out in agreement. She glanced at her son’s furious eyes and shrank her neck, not daring to stay any longer.
Once Madam Zhao had left, Muniang’s smile instantly turned into a sneer, “Still alive, are you?”
Qiao Yuanzhen’s eyes were filled with terror, and his breathing hastened, “No, no—”
Muniang pulled out a gleaming knife from her sleeve, “No need for what?”
Qiao Yuanzhen’s face turned pale; he wanted to scream but lacked the strength, feeling utterly hopeless, especially when seeing Muniang’s demonic, ferocious expression. For the first time, he felt that he had made a mistake, a mistake in offending this woman.
Muniang swung the knife in front of him back and forth, “Was it like this when you held the knife to Xi’er’s throat? What, didn’t get the reward you begged your master for? You don’t think a beating will let you off just like that, do you? Qiao Yuanzhen, you’d better not be naïve.”
As soon as she finished speaking, she plunged the knife down, into his cheek. Qiao Yuanzhen saw a flash of white light and thought he was going to die, but then he heard Muniang say coldly, “Dying would be letting you off too easily. I will show you that there are things in this world more cruel than death.”
Qiao Yuanzhen was trembling all over, half from the near-fatal stab Muniang had just made, and the other half from Muniang’s threats, leaving her seemingly dazed, shaking uncontrollably and unable to speak.
No sooner had Muniang left the Qiao family than she spilled the beans about Qiao Yuanzhen killing her own dear daughter. What did it matter if her body was broken, it was a ruined reputation that was truly beyond redemption!
“Lady, with what happened to Qiao Yuanzhen, isn’t her future ruined? Now she certainly won’t make it in the civil examinations. Her lifelong aspirations are just this, and now they’re in ruins. Might she despair and go straight to suicide?” Qingya asked.
Muniang scoffed with a laugh, “That kind of spineless good-for-nothing, scared even of pain, wishing for death, deserves to suffer.”
Qingya sighed, “It’s just a pity for Lady Qinghe, her heart, already wounded once, is now injured yet again. Qiao Yuanzhen is really inhuman.”
Muniang pursed her lips, “This must also be the tribulation she was fated to endure, I suppose. Only by understanding the past can she comprehend what she truly ought to possess in the future.”
Qingya, tilting her head, said, “I don’t understand these words you speak, Lady.”
Just then, Zeng Gang arrived in a rush, drenched in sweat, and quickly said upon seeing Muniang, “I hear you had trouble; what exactly happened?”
Muniang slightly curled her lips and said to Qingya, “You’ll understand later.”
Then, looking up at Zeng Gang, she said, “She’s inside. Go and have a look at her.”
“And Xi’er? Is Xi’er still okay?” Zeng Gang asked eagerly.
“Xi’er is fine too, just a little scared. Don’t worry,” she reassured.
Zeng Gang then hurried in to see for himself.
Muniang sighed helplessly. Zeng Gang was more reliable than a real father; she wondered when Qinghe would finally see the truth of matters.
In her heart, Muniang was actually quite worried, not knowing whether Yu Ze was doing well at the border. Although he had only been gone for a day, it felt as long as a year, constantly worrying whether he had met with trouble or not.
Once she started worrying with wild thoughts, she couldn’t stop, so she decided to go out for a walk to clear her mind.
But she was suddenly brought back from her thoughts by a delicate voice.
“Mu.”
Looking up, Muniang saw it was Qingmei, and she immediately smiled, “Qingmei has grown tall, becoming a young lady.”
Looking at the clothes the girl was wearing, although they were not of fine material, they were neat and tidy, without any severe wear, which suggested that Mrs. Liang was indeed not daring to treat her harshly anymore.
Qingmei said with some worry, “Mu, did something happen to you a few days ago? Are you alright?”
Muniang ruffled Qingmei’s little head, “I’m fine, doing well.”
Relieved, Qingmei said, “That’s good. I was really worried about you but didn’t dare to casually visit your house, for fear of being seen by my mother.”
Muniang smiled, “Is your mother treating you well?”
But Qingmei’s expression turned strange.
