Chapter 305 - 305 306 More Grievous than Dou E_1
Chapter 305: Chapter 306: More Grievous than Dou E_1 Chapter 305: Chapter 306: More Grievous than Dou E_1 Manager Qian was momentarily stunned but followed Wu Haoli’s gaze to realize who “she” was.
“Right, Second Boss just came by, you—”
“I know,” Wu Haoli’s face was devoid of any expression, showing no sign of anger, but Manager Qian knew that he must be feeling down right now.
Wu Haoli had also just arrived in the Capital City and happened to witness the scene where Liu Yueman and her party were causing trouble with Muniang, which inexplicably weighed heavily on his heart.
Manager Qian said with some difficulty, “Although Miss Liu’s family is not exceptionally prominent, taking such a small argument to the authorities might not be a good idea.”
Wu Haoli snorted coldly, “Who said it was just a small argument? They bullied the ordinary customers in the shop, smashed their table, and made an incessant fuss.”
Manager Qian was instantly stupefied, “But—no smashing occurred!”
Wu Haoli gave him a sidelong glance, “You don’t know what you smashed?”
Manager Qian’s legs went weak, and he almost collapsed. Did the boss mean to blatantly frame those young ladies from affluent families?
“Now go take care of it!”
“Yes, yes, I’ll do it right away!” Manager Qian didn’t dare delay any further and hurriedly ran off.
Wu Haoli’s expression turned slightly dark. Remembering the mocking words Liu Yueman had hurled at Muniang, Wu Haoli clenched his fists in his sleeves. Muniang, is this the life you followed him for, traveling thousands of miles? Even if Chatu Town was small and Tupo Village was poor, who would dare to look down on you so disdainfully?
“Master, what’s wrong?” The servant by his side noticed Wu Haoli’s unusually troubled expression and tentatively asked.
Wu Haoli said indifferently, “Nothing, let’s go in.”
Liu Yueman and the three famous ladies were unceremoniously sued with a complaint at the Capital Prefecture by Dongxing Building, which instantly caused a stir throughout the city, leading to everyone inevitably discussing it.
“Isn’t that Assistant Minister Liu’s daughter? The other two must also be of no small repute, and Dongxing Building really isn’t afraid of power, daring to sue like this.”
“What’s so surprising about that? Once, Prince San blatantly caused trouble at Dongxing Building and was directly thrown out. Dongxing Building isn’t that easy to shake, and this time it’s because those young ladies went too far, smashing tables during a small dispute and turning the restaurant upside down. Could Dongxing Building not get angry?”
“My goodness, this is not something a lady of good standing should do! They’re outright bandits! It’s outrageous to smash tables over a trifle; it’s a disgrace to their families. Who would dare marry such a woman in the future?”
The discussions among the people were lively, but Assistant Minister Liu was so infuriated he almost smashed the table, especially after hearing these rumors.
When Assistant Minister Liu rushed to the Capital Prefecture, Liu Yueman and the others were already being tied up and kneeling in the hall. As soon as Liu Yueman saw Assistant Minister Liu, she immediately started crying out, “Father, save me, father, I—”
But before she could finish, she heard a crisp slap. Assistant Minister Liu directly slapped Liu Yueman’s face, bellowing, “I have no such shameless daughter! You call yourself a lady, what kind of daughter of a respected family would commit such ridiculous acts!”
Liu Yueman was stunned by the slap and felt even more aggrieved, “Father, I didn’t! I didn’t smash the shop.”
Assistant Minister Liu’s anger grew even more intense, “You dare to argue! I truly do not know why I fathered such a daughter, a true disgrace to our family!”
Liu Yueman was even more wronged than Dou E. She was already upset by Muniang’s provocation and was just planning to go have a meal when she was directly taken away by Manager Qian’s men and delivered to the authorities. Only then did she learn that she had allegedly wrecked the restaurant. What in the world was this all about? And there was Assistant Minister Liu, not willing to believe her at all, leaving her no choice but to cry her heart out in utter misery.
In the end, Assistant Minister Liu managed to suppress the incident involving Liu Yueman, but her reputation was utterly ruined.
When Muniang heard about this incident, she was idly hanging around the Embroidery House, gathering some intelligence. She didn’t connect the incident to herself, assuming Liu Yueman had taken the anger caused by her out on someone else, resulting in this mess. She hadn’t even considered that Wu Haoli was manipulating things from the shadows.
No, she hadn’t even thought that Wu Haoli was now in the Capital City.
But just because Muniang didn’t know, didn’t mean Yu Ze was in the dark. Wu Haoli had scarcely arrived in the capital when Yu Ze received the news. With the incident at Dongxing Building occurring shortly after, he’d have to be the fool he once was not to realize who was behind it.
As far as Yu Ze was concerned, it didn’t matter how Liu Yueman, who disrespected Muniang, was to be dealt with. But when the person behind it was Wu Haoli, that got under his skin. He immediately abandoned what he was doing and rushed off to find Muniang.
By then, Muniang had finished her rounds at the Embroidery House, having purchased quite a few samples for research, and was just about to head back with Xiangtao in the carriage.
Just as they boarded the carriage, a figure leaped in. Muniang was startled and, upon closer inspection, saw it was Yu Ze. She asked in surprise, “Aren’t you dealing with matters in the palace? How do you have leisure time to roam the streets?”
Yu Ze gave Xiangtao a look, and she wisely climbed out of the carriage to walk back to the residence alone.
With Xiangtao gone, Yu Ze immediately sat next to Muniang and wrapped his arms around her, “I missed you.”
“Don’t start with me. Have you finished dealing with the palace affairs?” Muniang could only think of this possibility.
“Hmm, almost,” he said, although there were actually a ton left.
Yu Ze directly asked, “I heard Liu Yueman was taken into the Capital Prefecture. Do you know about this?”
“Hmm? I just heard about it too. She made a scene at Dongxing Building, right? Actually, I had encountered her there before. I had left her feeling a bit aggrieved, and it wasn’t long after I left that I heard the news about her being taken to the Capital Prefecture by Dongxing Building. She must have taken out the anger she had on me on someone else,” Muniang said with a malicious glee.
Listening to her words, Yu Ze realized she had no idea it was Wu Haoli’s doing, and she wasn’t even aware that Wu Haoli had come to the Capital City. He felt a sense of relief inside.
Seeing that she was in a good mood, Yu Ze smiled and said, “How come you’ve started to frequent places like the Embroidery House again?”
Muniang blinked mischievously and smiled, “How can I let such a juicy piece of the Capital City go? I’m planning to open an Embroidery House here, and I also plan to buy some farmland to sell my hybrid fruits and vegetables directly to the Capital City.”
Yu Ze smiled and teased, “You do as you please, then. Do you want me to help?”
“No need. You’re so busy, don’t worry about my affairs. I have my own plans,” she said.
Yu Ze knew that Muniang had her own ideas and didn’t say much more. However, if he knew that Muniang’s idea of “having a plan” involved getting help from Dongxing Building, he would probably be hopping mad.
