Farm Tough Girl -
Chapter 300 - 300 301 Jealous Arent You_1
Chapter 300: Chapter 301: Jealous, Aren’t You?_1 Chapter 300: Chapter 301: Jealous, Aren’t You?_1 Yu Ze was pulling Muniang along, ready to leave. As they passed by Liu Yueman, Muniang suddenly stopped and whispered in her ear, “Actually, seducing a man really does require some tricks, which you haven’t learned. So you can only watch with envy as Yu Ze dotes on me alone, jealous, aren’t you? You see, it’s better to learn the art of seduction than those useless things you’ve been studying. Like now, don’t you have to kneel before me and beg for mercy?”
These words were dripping with sarcasm, instantly causing Liu Yueman’s face to flush with anger as she glared at Muniang, “You!”
Muniang arched her eyebrows, “What do you want to do?”
Liu Yueman caught Yu Ze’s warning glance and had to forcefully suppress the anger in her belly, almost biting her lips through.
With a smug snort, Muniang turned and left. She couldn’t stand these self-righteous young ladies who thought themselves noble — were girls born to a farming family not proper? How proper could they possibly be, then?
Yu Ze’s purpose for coming today was also accomplished. Staying any longer would just add to the discomfort; on one hand, a group of officials were fawning over him, and on the other, Muniang was being “bullied.” It was better to leave early.
He directly asked the Emperor for permission to leave. The Emperor had only arranged this banquet to rid himself of a headache. Now that Yu Ze decided to retreat quietly to a small town, why would the Emperor refuse? So with a wave of his hand, he agreed.
The court officials had clear scales in their minds by this time. Even if the Emperor didn’t look favorably upon Yu Ze, they wouldn’t dare touch him. Even though a decree had now “exiled” Yu Ze to a remote town, his status was not shaken in the least because he was the one and only War God of the Daqian Dynasty. This was well understood by the Emperor and even clearer to the court officials.
The banquet, clearly meant to welcome and purify Yu Ze from his travels, had him as the main character, yet he could take his leave as he wished without the Emperor saying a word against it. From this, it was evident that Yu Ze’s status in the court had not decreased but increased significantly after today’s event, probably beyond the reach of anyone else.
Assistant Minister Liu’s heart was in knots. Looking across at his daughter, who had let him down, he was filled with anger. If Yu Ze decided to pursue today’s matter, their family would be done for!
Liu Yueman also realized the seriousness of the situation and began to feel afraid. She couldn’t eat any more and just sat there blankly in a daze.
By now, almost everyone was aware of the true reason behind Yu Ze’s defiance of the decree. He Suxue suffered a great loss of face and naturally could no longer stay, hurriedly asking to leave.
The Emperor, displeased, said to the Empress, “Is this the daughter that your He Family has raised? So ill-mannered, eagerly following Yu Ze as soon as he leaves?”
The Empress’s face showed embarrassment. Indeed, He Suxue had been too impulsive today. At such an event, with the Emperor still present, how could she just leave? Did she think she was on par with Yu Ze?
Muniang and Yu Ze arrived at Jing’an Gate where their carriage was waiting. The coachman, clearly taken aback by their early departure, seemed astonished but didn’t dare to ask anything. He swiftly brought down the footstool, waiting for them to board.
Once in the carriage, Muniang couldn’t hold back any longer, “Why did you ask the Emperor for such a reward? Being named a prince in a small place like Qinghua City, isn’t that just like being banished? Although this can dispel the Emperor’s suspicions, could it be too unworthy, degrading your status so much all at once?”
Yu Ze wrapped his arms around Muniang’s waist, “Where’s the unworthiness? Anyway, I don’t want to stay in the Capital City. From now on, we’ll live in Qinghua City. What’s bad about that?”
Muniang elbowed him, “Are you really not going to regret this? Although I don’t want to be a woman confined to a grand mansion, I don’t want to see you give up so much for me.”
Yu Ze gripped Muniang’s hand firmly and said earnestly, “I never thought about having it all, so how can I talk about giving up? If it weren’t for you, I would find even ten years on the frontier too short; I would never stay in the Capital City in this life. Fame and fortune have no value to me; I haven’t given up anything.”
Muniang sighed, “But I still feel it’s not good for you.”
Yu Ze drew Muniang into his arms, a smile playing on his lips, “You feel guilty towards me, don’t you? That’s good. You’d better remember all this forever. If you leave me, see if your conscience can bear it.”
Muniang snorted derisively, “Shameless.”
“When it comes to you, I couldn’t care less about my reputation—shameless or not,” Yu Ze said, and then he kissed those delicate lips.
Muniang was furious, “We are in a carriage, you know. What if someone hears us? It’ll look so bad.”
Clearly aware of the limits, Yu Ze gave her only a brief kiss. His heart, however, was itching unbearably. He found it impossible to endure the desire to touch her enticing form, yet he could not act on it.
Muniang felt the yearning in Yu Ze’s eyes, which seemed to glow with a faint green light, and couldn’t help but shrink back a little.
She quickly changed the subject, “But won’t your father explode with rage over this?”
“He will,” Yu Ze admitted candidly. He had delayed telling Yu Guang precisely because he had anticipated his father’s fury.
“But it’s pointless,” Yu Ze said with a smirk, “The Emperor’s decree has been issued. It’s not like he can defy it, right?” His smile at that moment bore a particularly sinister edge, as it was obvious he had prepared to act first and report later.
Muniang blushed, “That probably means another beating is in store, doesn’t it?”
Yu Ze wrapped his arms around Muniang tighter and chuckled, “What’s a beating for you?”
Muniang pinched him and scolded, “You’re incorrigible!”
Indeed, when Yu Guang heard of Yu Ze’s actions, he was enraged. The table was overturned, and he stormed towards the Bamboo Pavilion with the family discipline rod, but was ultimately stopped by Jian Yue. After all, Yu Ze had already been beaten to such a state; another round might cost him his life.
Upon hearing from the maid that Yu Guang had been pulled back by Jian Yue, Muniang breathed a sigh of relief. Looking at Yu Ze’s relaxed demeanor, she couldn’t help feeling as if the eunuch was more anxious than the Emperor himself.
“I never would have guessed that someone as hot-tempered as your father would be so obedient to your mother,” Muniang remarked with a tsk.
“Don’t be envious. I listen to you too,” Yu Ze said with a grin.
Muniang gave him a sidelong glance, “Stop trying to add luster to your own image.”
After this ordeal, Yu Guang would have to accept the situation, whether he liked it or not. After all, the Emperor’s decree was final—what else could be done?
“Isn’t this just about becoming Prince An? It’s just one betrothal less than before; there’s not much difference,” Jian Yue consoled Yu Guang.
Yu Guang huffed, his mustache bristling and eyes glaring, “Not much difference? Being knighted as a prince in that unknown, far-flung little city and we are supposed to celebrate?”
Jian Yue shrank her neck but ultimately stood up for her son, “Ze’er has his own plans. He never wanted to stay in the Capital anyway. Staying there is better than always struggling in the bloody winds of the borderlands, isn’t it?”
