Farm Tough Girl
Chapter 256 - 256 257 Abnormal_1

Chapter 256: Chapter 257: Abnormal_1 Chapter 256: Chapter 257: Abnormal_1 Yu Ze’s face instantly grew even darker, these rascals!

Muniang couldn’t help but laugh until she doubled over, her gloomy mood brightening up in an instant.

Seeing Muniang happy for the first time in days, Yu Ze felt relieved. As long as his wife was happy, everything was good; however, he still felt somewhat frustrated inside. He couldn’t cheer up his wife, but a few kids managed to make her laugh just by teasing her. It seemed that children really did have a big impact. If he and Muniang were to have a child of their own—

Yu Ze felt joyful just thinking about it and made up his mind right then – he was determined to work hard at creating a baby! However, while the ideal was beautiful, the reality was harsh, and perhaps, faced with some little troublemaker in the future, Yu Ze might regret the decision he made today.

“Is it fun at the academy? What have you all learned?” Muniang asked.

Honghai immediately boasted, “The master taught us to read ‘Thousand Character Classic’, recognize characters, and now I know so many words!”

Not to be outdone, Hongde quickly added, “I know them too, I know them too, and I even taught my sister!”

Muniang raised her eyebrows, “Oh? Which words did you learn? Write them for me, let your brother-in-law see how well you write.” In reality, that last sentence was just a pretext; she actually just wanted to see.

Qingya then went to the inner room and brought out all the necessary writing equipment that she laid out on the table.

Hongde rolled up his sleeves, grabbed the brush, and directly wrote a few characters on the paper. Since they hadn’t been studying for long, Muniang didn’t have any expectations of their penmanship. So, seeing the scrawly, childlike scribbles, she remained quite composed.

But Yu Ze clearly disapproved, frowning unconsciously at the sight of the writing.

“Look, Mu, the characters I learned! How are they?” Hongde proudly presented the paper to Muniang.

Taking a look, Muniang swallowed hard, not wanting to crush the child’s confidence and managed to smile, “Quite good, Hongde is really amazing.”

After speaking, she pointed at a character and asked, “What’s this character?”

Honghai hurriedly replied, “That’s ‘big’!”

Muniang was stunned.

Quickly, Hongde corrected, “It’s not ‘big’. Master said, the ‘big’ character is missing a stroke, ‘dog’ has an extra stroke, this is clearly ‘dog’!”

Muniang was stunned again.

Seeing the two boys arguing, Tianniu also became anxious, “So what exactly is it? Hongde told me it’s ‘dog’ when he was teaching me, is that really true?”

The uninitiated Hongsheng blinked, clearly not understanding a thing.

All the children turned their gaze to Yu Ze, eagerly awaiting his verdict.

Yu Ze coolly said, “I can tell you.”

The kids immediately widened their eyes in anticipation.

But then they saw Yu Ze continue, “But from now on, you’re not allowed to target my wife.”

Muniang almost spit out her tea, wondering if this man had bumped his head recently.

Hongsheng’s eyes whirled around before he said, “If you can teach us to read on normal days, I’ll agree to it.”

Yu Ze actually didn’t really want to do it. Instead of sticking close to his beloved wife, he had to teach this bunch of unruly kids how to read every day, how boring! But thinking of such good terms, Yu Ze still gritted his teeth and agreed.

Muniang stared with wide eyes at Yu Ze, worried he might start a fight if he hung around with these kids.

Yu Ze pointed seriously at the hideously ugly “太” character and said, “This is a ‘太’.”

The little faces of Honghai and Hongde instantly fell as they said somewhat embarrassingly, “We were all wrong then.”

Muniang held her forehead, smiled helplessly, and said, “What’s the big deal? You’ve just started learning. Who doesn’t make mistakes? When your brother-in-law started learning characters, he made even more mistakes.”

“Really?”

Yu Ze said expressionlessly, “I learned to read at three, started school at five. When the Master told me to learn characters, I wrote out the Thousand Character Classic from memory.”

A line of dark marks appeared on Muniang’s face. This man was actually competing with a bunch of children. Did he have any emotional intelligence at all? Could he be any more childish?!

Honghai and Hongde looked dejected: “Sure enough, we’re just too stupid. Our mother worked so hard to save up our tuition, and we can’t study well.”

Muniang kicked Yu Ze hard under the table and gave him a glaring look. Yu Ze then said, “I was lying to you. I couldn’t read at ten, and after three years in school, I still hadn’t memorized the Thousand Character Classic. The Master even scolded me.”

The kids finally cheered up: “Brother-in-law is even dumber than us!”

Yu Ze’s face was lined with dark marks as Muniang quickly tugged at the corner of his clothes and smiled at the children: “Yes, there is no end to learning. It’s too early to draw conclusions. Diligence is the most important thing. Look how terrible he was before, and how awesome he is now, right?”

Honghai and Hongde nodded vigorously: “We want to become as awesome as brother-in-law one day!”

Muniang smiled with relief. The kids were still young; they needed more encouragement to do well. But she suddenly became worried for Tianniu. If Honghai and Hongde could hardly learn themselves, writing characters crookedly and often mistaking them, how could they teach Tianniu well? She hoped they wouldn’t lead her astray.

It seemed that finding a Master for Tianniu was the most important thing, but the key was that they couldn’t brazenly hire a Master to teach at home; otherwise, if the old residents of the Qiao family found out, it might cause an uproar. After all, the Qiao family valued sons over daughters extremely. If they knew that Madam Liu was “wasting silver” to find a teacher for Tianniu, there would probably be endless trouble in the future.

“The brothers say the academy is really fun; I also want to grow up fast and study with them!”

Hongsheng spoke with full yearning.

Muniang laughed: “Really? Do all the students at the academy get along well?”

Honghai said, “They’re quite good, but—”

Seeing Honghai hesitate, Muniang was also taken aback for a moment: “What’s the matter? Is there something that’s not going well?”

Hongde said impatiently, “It’s all because of Shitou, a complete troublemaker. It would be alright if he didn’t come to the academy and just skipped class, then we could have some peace. But whenever he comes, he has to stir up trouble, making everyone uncomfortable.”

Honghai added indignantly, “Exactly, and no one dares to deal with him. He’s so overbearing, relying on his own strength and fighting ability, he doesn’t take anyone seriously.”

Muniang was shocked: “How can that be? Why are the kids at the academy so easy to bully? Why would whatever he says go?”

It wasn’t supposed to be like this; most of the kids at the academy were either rich or noble. Although Qing Mountain Academy wasn’t considered a top academy, the kids who could afford to study there came from good families. Wang Shitou attending school was the Wang family trying to punch above their weight. He was supposed to be the weakest one at the academy; it would be fortunate if he wasn’t bullied by others. Yet it was him, on a relentless spree, bullying others aggressively. That was just too abnormal!
