Chapter 764: Chapter 764: Concordance (1)_1

The two had little time to spend together and even fewer opportunities to meet, as Xiao Ruiyuan was occupied with official duties that prevented him from accompanying Mo Yan for long.

Although Mo Yan felt a tinge of regret, she wasn’t truly a teenaged girl who needed her beloved to be constantly by her side. Thus, they went to Huixian Residence, ordered a few dishes, and after having lunch together, they parted ways—one headed to the Government Office for work, and the other to the rice shop to find help.

After a year of operations, thanks to the high quality and variety of the grain, Mo Family Fragrant Rice Shop had made a name for itself within Jing City. It had almost wooed half of the upper middle class families in the city, with daily sales of grain reaching over three thousand catties. As such, delivery of grain from Liu Yang Village to the shop was necessary every other day.

When Mo Yan arrived at the rice shop, Lizhong, Tie Tou, and Wang Pangtou, who had been busy all morning, were eating lunch in a small room.

Seeing Mo Yan come at this moment, the three men thought she hadn’t eaten. Wang Pangtou put down his utensils, rolled up his sleeves to head to the kitchen to fry a couple more dishes but was stopped by Mo Yan, "Please, sit down and eat. I’ve already had my meal."

Lizhong, sitting nearby, laughed and said, "Brother Fat Head’s cooking isn’t bad. Why not add a little more, Yan girl?"

"What a pity. If I hadn’t just come from Huixian Residence, I really couldn’t eat another bite. I would have insisted on trying it!" Mo Yan said with a smile as she declined.

Upon hearing this, Lizhong did not insist.

Mo Yan told them to continue eating while she took the account book and started reviewing it at the counter outside.

With the rice shop doing well, the daily income was high. Earning seven or eight hundred silver in a month was not a problem, which was much better than Mo Yan had previously anticipated.

Once the three men in the small room had finished their meal, and Mo Yan had finished looking through the account book, she kept Lizhong in the room and sent Tie Tou and Wang Pangtou out to attend to customers.

With the door of the small room closed, Mo Yan’s expression became serious. She spoke to Lizhong, "Grandfather Li, there’s something I can’t handle personally, so I must ask for your help."

Seeing her like this, Lizhong also became solemn, "Yan girl, please tell me."

Without hesitation, Mo Yan made her request, "Could you please go to the Ministry of Justice’s Prison tomorrow to pick someone up, find a reliable Escort Agency to take the person to my hometown, and then there’s no need to bother with anything else. Also, don’t mention it to anyone in the family."

Having saved Mrs. Du this time, Mo Yan felt she owed her nothing. To send her back to be cared for by her own family was the utmost kindness. Mo Yan didn’t want to see Mrs. Du again nor did she want her to know her savior’s identity. She certainly wouldn’t tell her family either.

"Yan girl, this matter is manageable. Don’t worry, Grandfather Li will ensure it’s done properly." It wasn’t a difficult task, so Lizhong readily agreed.

Lizhong felt puzzled, but he wasn’t one to pry. He never asked questions that were not his business, which was exactly why Mo Yan sought his help. Aside from being a suitable choice, he was strictly confidential and would absolutely not breathe a word to the family.

"Thank you, Grandfather Li! The day after tomorrow is my father’s birthday. Let Brother Tie Tou and Brother Fat Head take care of the shop while you go home and rest for a couple of days!"

With business at the rice shop booming, envy was inevitable. However, out of respect for the power of Duke Wu’an’s Mansion and the status of Lord Mo Yan, no one dared to openly harm Mo’s Fragrant Rice. But to guard against any underhanded plots, Lizhong and the other two stayed in the shop.

This arrangement also spared them the trouble of commuting, especially now with the severe cold, when getting up in the morning was hard enough. Staying in the shop was much more convenient.

Upon hearing this, Lizhong slapped his forehead in annoyance, "If you hadn’t reminded me, I would have once again forgotten that the day after tomorrow is your father’s birthday! Alright, I will head back tomorrow afternoon."

Mo Yan said with a smile, "With Grandfather Li busy spinning around every day, it’s normal to forget."
