Chapter 1181: 【1181】Learning from a female boss

Before arriving, the respiratory department’s teacher had gotten her phone number and called her a day in advance to greet her.

"Xie Wanying, I’m Doctor Xin Yanjun from the Respiratory Department. Welcome to our department for your internship. Arrive a bit earlier tomorrow, and I’ll take you around our department so you can get familiar with the environment."

The female voice on the phone sounded warm, accompanied by an adorable laugh.

Oh, it’s a female teacher.

After six months of internship here, she’s finally going to learn from a female "boss." Xie Wanying’s heart brimmed with excitement.

As great as Senior Tao is, could he be as captivating as Teacher Xin, who’s like a fluffy marshmallow?

(Tao Zhijie: Little junior sister, you—)

She arrived at the Respiratory Department an hour early to report in.

Walking into the ward area, she spotted a refined female doctor standing in the corridor. She looked about thirty years old, wearing a ponytail. Her rosy cheeks were like a pair of sweet dates, and her smile exuded warmth.

Seeing her, Teacher Xin waved, "Come over quickly, Yingying."

Her affectionate tone made Teacher Xin feel like a big sister. Xie Wanying’s eyes sparkled as though in a dream, recalling how the first department she entered, General Surgery Department Two, had been akin to the gates of hell.

Perhaps the teachers planning her internship intended to give her some bitter medicine first and then reward her with a sweet date.

Thump thump thump—Xie Wanying dashed toward the big-sisterly teacher.

Every medical student wishes to encounter a teacher like the sweet date.

"Yingying, have you had breakfast yet?" Xin Yanjun gently patted her on the shoulder, her warm and caring double-lidded eyes looking at her.

"I did." Xie Wanying, like the obedient top student she had been the previous evening with Doctor Song, nodded fervently.

"Let’s go, I’ll take you on a tour," Xin Yanjun said as she walked around the ward with her.

Senior Tao was kind, but he had never personally taken her on a ward tour. Senior Cao had also been good to her—yet it was impossible for Senior Cao to match Teacher Xin’s meticulous care in her work. There really was a difference between male and female teachers, between senior brothers and senior sisters.

"Our Respiratory Department has a total of forty-five beds," Xin Yanjun introduced the department as they walked. "Do you know what is special about our department?"

Before entering a new internship department, medical students need to prepare beforehand to prevent being caught off guard by a teacher’s questions on the first day. Xie Wanying immediately answered with the prepared homework: "Guoxie’s respiratory department is equipped with bronchoscopes and ventilators, primarily treating respiratory system diseases—simply put, diseases related to the lungs."

"You’re good at hitting the key points; it looks like you did your homework on our department," Xin Yanjun complimented her, then added, "This afternoon, a patient will be undergoing a bronchoscopy, and I’ll take you to observe."

As they stepped into the ward area, Teacher Xin explained to her that their group was designated as the first group, working under Respiratory Department Director Li, responsible for beds 1 to 6, as well as single-bed room 21.

Teacher Xin was the attending physician of Director Li’s group. This arrangement, where she was assigned to learn under Teacher Xin, was directed by Director Li. Xie Wanying could distinctly feel how seriously this department regarded her, which added a bit of pressure.

In the single room, there stood the department’s only invasive ventilator.

"If you’ve been to the ICU before, you’ve definitely seen ventilators," Xin Yanjun said to her.

Ventilators are most commonly found in ICUs because they are expensive, space-consuming, and noisy. Regular patients in general wards don’t usually use them. Those who require them are typically critical care patients needing ICU rescue and monitoring.
