Chapter 56 - 053. Putri and Randa.
Chapter 56: 053. Putri and Randa.
The long silence made the situation even more uncomfortable for Putri. The girl occasionally glanced at Randa who looked so serious.
’Damn! What should I say?!’ thought Randa who was actually very panicked despite her outward appearance that seemed firm and confident.
’Wait a minute, Reizel came here to negotiate to exchange the system users for that girl, but why is she the only one who isn’t bound?’ thought Randa who was still giving off a calm and tough persona even though she was actually tense inside.
’Who is this cute girl? Why is she -’ Randa immediately fell silent as it seemed she knew what the future would bring.
Randa slightly glanced to the side, at Putri. "Ekhem!"
Putri was slightly startled and her body instantly became as rigid as concrete.
’What is this? Did I do something wrong? Is she doubting me?’ thought Putri who couldn’t even hide her own worries.
"So..." Randa did a quick inspection from bottom to top. "What’s your relationship with Reizel?"
’Come to think of it, she’s pretty cute too,’ thought Randa who was now comparing her body that was so masculine and became a little insecure with the fact that she didn’t look like a feminine girl at all.
However, even so, unlike Putri who was like an open book, Randa showed absolutely no emotional turmoil that she felt.
Putri became nervous and started to break out in a cold sweat. ’Oh right, I have to pretend.’
The awkward girl forced a smile. "I’m Reizel’s girlfriend, Hehe..."
"That’s what it looks like," Randa responded in a flat tone, she didn’t even look at the Putri when giving that response.
’I knew it!’ Randa shouted in her mind.
Despite her outward appearance, Randa was actually very enthusiastic about the information she had just gotten.
’Kyaa!!! Reizel has good taste. This girl is so cute! If he said he wants to be the new village chief, does that mean he’s going to marry this girl? Is that why he brought her here while carrying the system users? He wants to get himself recognized so he can get married now? Kyaa! So romantic!’ thought Randa who was so enthusiastic about her own thoughts even though her outer persona seemed so calm.
"Something like that, Hehe..." replied Putri with an awkward smile.
’What is this?! Why does she seem dissatisfied? Does that mean I’m not worthy enough? Are the standards for their women are higher? Will she kill me if I don’t meet the criteria?’ Putri shouted in her mind.
"Hmn...." Randa responded briefly.
’Ah damn, if that’s the case, I should get along with her. Because she will also become my family. But what do girly girls like her usually talk about?’ thought Randa before she suddenly got a memory of herself as a child and was shunned by her female friends.
Although Randa was very good at hiding her feelings, but that particular memories managed to make her frown and slightly lower both ends of her lips.
’So what if I’m a bit of a tomboy! It’s not my fault that I have a body like this!’ Randa shouted in her mind.
Putri’s eyes widened and she tilted her body slightly away from Randa. ’Why is she angry?!’
The two women didn’t speak anything after that...
Putri was too afraid to make a mistake to avoid suspicion.
While Randa was too afraid to open a conversation that might not be called a feminine topic.
While the two women were having their own inner conflicts, the people sitting at the back were also busy.
"Agh! I don’t like being tied up like a weakling! I’m not weak!" shouted Ignoir who complained about the condition of her bound hands and feet.
Galih sighed. "Stop complaining and shut up, it was that girl’s idea anyway."
Ignoir immediately looked sharply at the man. "You have no right to order me around. A weakling like you does not deserve to give me orders. You’re the one who should be aware of your position, you shrimp brain."
Galih’s right eye twitched slightly and his facial expression changed slightly, becoming a little more serious. "Don’t get me wrong, wolf girl. Yesterday I wasn’t serious about fighting you, even without Zaskia, I could have beaten you."
The situation became even more tense and Ardi suddenly jumped towards them and sat between the two who were arguing.
"Don’t fight yet, remember we’re in a dangerous area and still in an uncertain situation." Ardi explained so quickly that she almost bit his own tongue.
Galih stepped back and immediately averted his eyes from Ignoir. "Ckh."
Ardi put on a forced smile and looked directly at the pale-skinned girl.
"We can’t make trouble now, Putri’s life will be in danger if that happens and Aril will definitely be angry later," Ardi explained while moving his hands as a gesture to reassure Ignoir.
Ignoir’s face became sullen and she puffed out both cheeks. "Hmpft! Alright, but I’m not doing this for you, but for Mr. Aril. I don’t obey weaklings!"
He manage to deescalated the situation and Ardi breathed a sigh of relief right after that.
While the three were grappling with their own problems, Farel and Johan had a more important topic of conversation, so important that they spoke in a tone so low that it was almost as if they were whispering, so as not to be overheard by the woman who was now taking Reizel’s place as driver.
"Johan, I want to ask you seriously. Can you really trust Reizel?" whispered Farel who sat beside Johan.
"I understand your concern, but don’t worry, he’s trustworthy," replied Johan who also whispered.
"Did you know from the start that he had some relationship with them?" Farel asked once again.
"Not at all. Gilbert was the one who found Reizel and for some reason Reizel seems to be very obedient to Gilbert, even beyond reasonable limits."
"Ah, yes, that’s right. That carbon bald guy found him. Unfortunately he never told me anything about Reizel’s origins other than the fact that Reizel from rural area."
"Reizel even seemed to really hate people who don’t have a system, even his sense of superiority over people who don’t have a system exceeds Nabil’s."
Farel tilted his head slightly and raised one of his eyebrows. "Nabil? That boy has a superiority complex like that? He never showed it."
"Of course not. Nabil’s sense of superiority is more like someone who feels that the world should be changed by system users, but Reizel is different," Johan answered swiftly without raising his tone of voice.
"Hmn... What is the different?"
"He seems to feel disgusted with those who don’t have a system, even more so with people who don’t want to obey him."
"So, are you saying he has a grudge with his own people?"
"I don’t know anything about his past, but one thing is for sure, the hatred in his eyes is real. A hatred that was so..."
"...personal," Johan whispered as he recalled the moment he fought his own brother, Johan Smith, the father of Jessica.
