Chapter 202: Hot

After sending her uncle off, Serena walked back to the small room she had turned into a makeshift bedroom. The door creaked softly as she pushed it open, her steps slowing as she froze in place.

"Aiden..." she said, her voice barely above a whisper.

He was there, lounging in the chair like he belonged to the space, yet his presence consumed it entirely. His gaze met hers, dark and intent, a heat simmering in his eyes that sent a shiver down her spine. Her heartbeat quickened and she took a hesitant step forward, as if compelled, her lips parted as she struggled to find her voice. "Why are you looking at me like that?" she finally managed, her tone tinged with curiosity and a flicker of unease.

Aiden smiled—a slow, knowing curve of his lips that only deepened the intensity of his stare. He didn’t answer her question. Instead, with a fluid motion, he reached out, his fingers wrapping around her wrist. Before she could react, he tugged her gently but firmly toward him, and she stumbled into his lap.

Her breath hitched as she found herself straddling him, her knees pressing into the worn cushion of the chair. She placed her hands on his shoulders instinctively. Only then did he speak, his voice low and rough, tinged with something almost primal as his hand slolwy traced its way upward over the middle of her back. "Do you have any idea," he murmured, "how hot you look when you threaten people?"

Serena blinked, momentarily caught off guard by his words. "What?" she stammered.

"I mean it," he continued, his grin widening slightly as he looked at her confusion. "That fire in your eyes, the way your voice gets low and firm—its’ all mesmerizing.

Serena chuckled at that. This guy... She shook her head. He would find everything she did sexy! She tilted her head, her hair falling slightly over her shoulder as her lips curved into a playful smirk and watched as his glance shifted to her neck. She felt a thrill at that.. He loved to lick and bite her there and she loved it when he did that too. "Perverted, much?" she teased him and though her voice was light it had just enough edge to challenge him.

Aiden’s grin widened, unfazed by her jab. His hand continued its slow ascent, his fingers tracing delicate patterns along the curve of her spine, tracing the line of her bra as he echoed, "Perverted?". Pretending to be considering her words, he cocked his head in thought before shaking it. "Maybe. But I call it... appreciating the finer things in life."

Her laugh bubbled up again, more genuine this time and more breathless. His hands and gaze could do wonders to her. "So threatening people is a ’fine thing’ now? Maybe I should start worrying about what is wrong with your head."

But before she could say more, her voice broke as his hand slipped under her jacket and shirt, undoing the clasp of her bra, "Aiden. You need to stop."

Her words were fragile, a plea wrapped in restraint, but Aiden shook his head, his eyes blazing with a fire she hadn’t seen in a long time. "I don’t want to, Serena. I want you."

Without waiting for her response, he leaned forward, his hand slipping to cradle the back of her neck. His lips found hers in a kiss that was urgent and consuming. His touch sent a jolt through her, and for a brief, dizzying moment, she let herself get lost in it as she kissed him back.

It wasn’t until the need for air became unbearable that they finally broke apart. Serena drew back slightly, her breath uneven, her lips tingling. She stared at him, wide-eyed, as if trying to make sense of what had just happened. "What has gotten into you, Aiden?" she whispered, her voice unsteady.

Aiden cursed softly, dragging a hand through his hair before pulling her into his arms. His hold was firm yet desperate, as though he was afraid she’d slip away. "Our divorce was finalized today," he admitted, his voice rough with barely contained emotion. "I don’t like it. I don’t like this feeling of losing you. It’s like...

"You won’t lose me, honey," Serena murmured, her heart aching as she cupped his face. Her thumb brushed gently across his cheek and she leaned in and kissed him softly this time, a kiss meant to comfort rather than ignite. "You won’t lose me."

It was a promise she made to him and to herself. She would not lose him. This separation was only temporary. But the words felt hollow, even to her. They had both agreed to this divorce—it was part of the plan. However, now that it was done, he reality of it felt unbearable. It wasn’t supposed to feel like this.

He stared into her eyes and she stared back, letting him see that she belonged to him as much as he belonged to her.

Aiden stared into her eyes, the words so long buried in his heart, almost coming to his tongue. He wanted to tell her that he loved her but somehow the words were stuck in his throat as he tried to speak them up. Helpless at his own weakness, he leaned forward and kissed her again, wanting some kind of a connection to her that would anchor them both.

And as she moaned into his mouth, they deepened the kiss. He pulled her close to him and her hands went to work on his shirt as she got rid of the buttons and traced his warm and strong shoulders. Her nails dug into his shoulders and he groaned, his fingers tightening on her bu**.

"I don’t think I’m ever going to get enough of you." Serena murmured as he pulled her hair back, so that he would gain access to her neck and as he lightly bit there, he trheatened," You better not. I’m not letting you escape."

But fate sometimes has other plans. And while each of them meant that they would be holding onto each other through the storm... some things were inevitable.
