Falling For My Accidental CEO Husband
Chapter 20: Honeymoon

Chapter 20: Honeymoon

"I can’t believe it. You actually agreed to go on a honeymoon," Serena said, glaring at Aiden as she tore her gaze from the window.

"For grandma’s sake," Aiden replied, sparing her a quick glance.

Serena snorted, her eyes narrowing in disbelief. "Oh, please! You’re such a perv and you are even using grandma’s name to justify it. You could’ve come up with a thousand reasons to postpone this trip if you really wanted to. I mean, you’re the CEO of a multinational corporation! How on earth do you have so much free time to waste on a honeymoon with a wife who isn’t even really yours? And don’t drag grandma into this. She’s not that unreasonable! If you’d told her you had business, she would have excuse you. So don’t say anything about that"

Silence filled the car when Aiden didn’t retort, deepening Serena’s frustration as she glared at him. "Why aren’t you saying anything?"

"You’re the one who asked me not to say anything," Aiden pointed out, watching forward as he imagined steam escaping her ears, while he suppressed his smile. Aggravating Serena had certainly become the highlight of his days, giving him as much satisfaction as winning an acquisition or even a multi billion dollar contract.

"Aiden Hawk, I swear, you are going to die at my hands someday!" Serena glared at him, already having seen him suppressing his smile. He was having fun at her expense!

"You can try..." Aiden shrigged," But for now, I think you need to worry about the honeymoon... and what we are going to do there."

Serena gave him a stare at that and retorted," The only one you are going to have this honeymoon with is yourself! Don’t get any ideas, okay?"

"Ideas? What kind of ideas?" Suddenly, Aiden slowed the car, pulling over to the shoulder of the road and leaned over the gearbox, close to her. Her eyes widened at the sudden movement and change in the atmosphere and she stared up at him. He gave her a slow smile and asked in a low voice,"Ideas like what, Serena? Hmm? What kind of thoughts do you think are swirling around in my head?"

Serena blinked, trying to form coherent words as he was so close that she could see the pores on his skin and stuttered," That..."

Aiden’s lips curled into a slow, mischievous smile. He brushed a strand of hair from her face, his fingers brushing against her cheek deliberately. "Or maybe," he murmured, his eyes locking with hers, "those ideas are in your head, and you’re just itching to share them with me. Is that it, Serena? You want to tell me all about them? Share your imagination?"

As they stared at each other, the tension in the car seemed to thicken. Aiden watched as she suddenly moistened her lips, sent a jolt of attraction through him, making him want a taste.

Before he could make a move on his errant thought, however, the back of Serena’s seat suddenly moved backward, and Serena glared at him. To give himself a moment to recover, he tapped her nose and teased her," scaredy cat" before moving back to his seat. This battle round had been in his favor as well. Perfect...If only all their battles would be so easy...

But his triumph was short-lived. Just as he settled back into his seat, Serena moved, leaning over him with a confident smile as her fingers traced his jaw, "The ideas in my head?" she murmured, her voice a sultry whisper. "You wouldn’t be able to handle them, Aiden. So, it’s better if you drive...But maybe someday, I’ll share them with you."

Aiden blinked, disarmed by her boldness and swallowed hard, trying to maintain his composure, then turned back to the steering wheel. He’d lost another battle... again. But it was better to back off than engage the enemy when losing so he quickly started the car.

Silence reigned between them then, as Serena moved to stare out of the window, while he continued to drive, his thoughts preoccupied by the one on his side. She was...interesting...

After a few miles, Serena broke the silence. "So... where exactly are we going?"

Aiden glanced at her, his expression unreadable. "A small town on the edge of the shore. I think that is where your accident might have happened."

That caught her attention, and she turned sharply to look in his direction,"My accident?"

"Yes. If we’re going with the idea that you’re not a Thompson but only knew them, then I thought we should check where the Thompsons were living before they moved to the city with you. This town is a tourist spot with flea markets and other tourist traps. It seems this is where they were before."

"But how can you be sure this is where my accident happened?"

"I am not sure. It’s more of a hunch. The Thompsons were living here. And rainstorms are a common occurrence here which causes many accidents, and there was a massive pile-up last year with many casualties. You were injured around that time, too."

Serena’s excitement grew. The idea of finding something familiar or even being recognized by someone in the town made her heart pound with anticipation. "If I was there, I might even remember something if I saw it. Or maybe someone in the town might recognize me. And the sooner I know my real self, I can return to being me..."

"You mean you’re not your crazy self already?" Aiden asked with a look of mock horror

Serena snorted at that, not affected by his snide comment," No! I think you are the one responsible for my craziness. I am very sure I was as serene as my name before I met you."

’Ha! I bet you were so different from being serene that your parents probably names you that just hoping that you would calm down!" Aiden muttered but was only met with a dazzling smile from her.
