Falling For My Accidental CEO Husband
Chapter 152: An Agreement

Chapter 152: An Agreement

"You’ve changed."

Serena glared at Sidney Price, hating the casual, almost mocking way he looked at her, like he knew her better than anyone else. She bit back her response, attempting to stay professional, but the scorn in her voice leaked through.

"Can I please get a break from you, Sidney? I’ve done what you asked of me, so can you just take that smug, self-satisfied face of yours and get out of my office?" She gestured toward the door. "I really don’t want to see you any longer than necessary."

Sidney only grinned, clearly unfazed by her irritation. He was happy today! He’d accomplished two things today! Serena was going to be free again. And her asking Aiden for a divorce was a win that would surely crush him!

He crossed his arms and leaned back, making himself more comfortable, as if he had every intention of staying. "Touchy, touchy," he said, his voice laced with amusement. "So, did he sign the divorce papers? You can hand them over now, and I’ll have them sent to the courthouse on your behalf. Nice and easy." He held out his hand expectantly.

Serena felt her stomach twist at the thought of Sidney, of all people, handling this. She let out a short, mirthless laugh. "I’d rather handle that myself, thanks. And I can’t afford your ’help’ anyway, Sidney. One favor has already cost me a lot. Now, unless you want to see me actually lose my patience, I suggest you leave. Now."

Sidney didn’t budge. In fact, he seemed to find her threat amusing, his eyes gleaming with the thrill of getting under her skin. "Oh, Rena, don’t be so grumpy. It’s not like you’re heartbroken or anything. I mean, I can tell you’re not exactly in love with him. You’re fine. Look at you. Still composed, still beautiful—like nothing’s changed."

She clenched her hands under the table, the pen in her grasp begging to be flung at his arrogant face. Every word he spoke stoked her anger, that familiar cold fury bubbling up inside her. The ease with which he dismissed her feelings as if he knew her.

He had known her but she had never known him. And maybe the previous her would have not been bothered by this. But Aiden... seeing the coldness in his eyes for those few seconds had made her heart turn cold.

"I don’t need your analysis of my feelings," she said icily, barely resisting the urge to raise her voice. "And I certainly don’t need you telling me how I look or how I should feel. Just... leave, Sidney. I’m done with you."

Sidney sighed, shaking his head like a disappointed parent. "You’re so feisty now, Serena. I miss the old days when you were sweeter... more agreeable." He reached out, as if daring to touch her hand across the table.

Serena’s entire body tensed, her patience wearing thin. She drew a deep breath, forcing herself to look Sidney straight in the eye, her tone as steady as steel. "Sidney, I’m telling you for the last time—get out. You got what you wanted, and I owe you nothing. So, unless you’d like some security escort you out, I suggest you go while you still have some dignity."

There was a flash of something in Sidney’s eyes, a flicker of genuine irritation that he quickly masked. His smile dimmed just a little, but he stood up, brushing invisible dust from his jacket. "Alright, alright, no need for threats. I’ll go... for now. But remember, Serena, you’ve barely fulfilled one condition...I’ll wait for you to finish your part of the bargain."

She didn’t respond, watching him leave with a sense of relief before throwing the pen in her hand down and standing up.

With her back to the door, she looked down at the buildings that looked like tiny little things from up here and let her tears fall. Yes. She looked normal. Because she had refused to let herself cry. Honestly, she had not expected she would cry over him. And yet she had. It would have been better to refuse Aiden in the beginning itself and not accepted his proposition. At least then, she would not have known his support...

But she did not let herself dwell on it much longer. It was never meant to be. But what grated on her was that she’d been forced to sever this relationship because of Sidney.

"End things with Aiden. Permanently. That is my payment for saving all your hardwork"

She had laughed at him, her voice laced with contempt. "You think I’d stoop that low?" she had scoffed, looking him dead in the eyes, disgusted. "Unlike you, Sidney, I don’t discard friendships and relationships for profit. Loyalty still matters to me, even if it’s a foreign concept to you."

"You can fight it, but in the end, you’ll come back to me. Because I’m the only one who can help you. Whether you like it or not, Investor Ji is aready interested in your company so he will be getting it. What will make a difference is which way this goes. If you agree, then he will hold the company for you and then later sell it to you for a tidy profit. If not, then he will buy it and sell it tomorrow to the higest bidder who can then tear it apart as they wish."

"Then teat it apart! A company is nothing that cannot be rebuilt again."

"Dam* It! Is Aiden really that important to you? Even more so than your life long dream? Come on, Serena! You had one aim all your life and that was to..."

"I’m leaving. I don’t intend to have this..."

"Fine. You don’t want to leave him to save yuor company? Then leave him to save him."

She stilled. "What do you mean by that?"

"You know the quagmire you are in, Serena. Until now, Aiden has been spared from everything because no one has looked into who you’ve married. But what happens when I make it known that your husband is also a threat? Who do you think they will eliminate. Aiden is not invincible, you know."
