Chapter 126: Seal The Deal

"Rena. Don’t be like this. We are more than just—"

Before Sidney could finish, his eyes widened, and his words trailed off, making him freeze in place. Serena frowned, confused by his sudden silence, but then something—no, someone—moved behind her.

A hand slid around her waist, pulling her back against a solid chest, and Serena stiffened, blinking as she turned her head. Aiden was standing right there, dripping with confidence... and water. His shirt was hanging open, each button undone, revealing his damp skin along with a few old scratch marks. His hair was still wet, clinging to his forehead as if he’d just stepped out of the shower. Hold up, she thought, blinking in disbelief. I just showered... How did he—

Her mind went from shocked to... well, distracted. He looked like he’d walked straight out of one of those steamy romance novels. Wet, rugged, annoyingly hot. Oh no, brain. Focus!

Serena’s eyes flicked back to Sidney, whose face had morphed from shock to full-on confusion and... hurt. She watched as his gaze darted between the two of them, probably putting together the very

wrong picture. Oh great, now it looks like we’ve been showering together.

However, even if it was the wrong picture, she realized that she was satisfied to see Sidney like this. "Wait a minute," she whispered to herself. "How did he do this? And when? "It felt a little right to see him suffer, gave her a sense of satisfaction.... But then she realized exactly what Aiden had done. And the most important question in this was why. Had he somehow discovered her and Sidney’s past overnight?

Even if Ella had mentioned Sidney, she should not have been able to reveal the old details. so, why did Aiden go to such great lengths to present such a picture to some stranger? Unless he already knew something...

Aiden, ever the picture of casual chaos, raised an eyebrow, clearly enjoying Sidney’s hurt expression.

Finally, Sidney seemed to have found his composure as he cleared his throat, stared at Serena, ignoring Aiden and his hand on her as he said," I thought we could have breakfast together. I... I brought your favourite pancakes. But since you have company," I’ll wait downstairs for you."

"I told you I will contact you when I need to be. So, you don’t need to wait."

"Rena! We have things to discuss and I need to take you to the lawyer’s office..."

Meanwhile, Aiden was not the least bit bothered about being ignored or by their ongoing conversation as he simply leaned in close to Serena, sniffing her neck as he said," We need to eat... I am really hungry for you..."

Sidney’s face tightened as his eyes flicked away from the two of them, jaw clenched so hard Serena could practically hear the grinding of his teeth. He inhaled sharply, forcing his hands into fists at his sides before speaking. "I’ll take you to the lawyer’s office," he said stiffly. "Come down when you’re ready."

His gaze lingered on her for a moment, as though he was silently pleading that she step away from him, but Serena remained motionless. Sidney finally tore himself away, walking out with a rigid posture careful not to turn back.

As soon as the door clicked shut, Serena spun on her heel, crossing her arms in front of her as she glared up at Aiden. "What the hell was that?" she hissed, eyes blazing with anger. "What exactly are you trying to pull, Aiden?"

He didn’t seem fazed by her outburst at all as his eyes swept over her in a slow, deliberate once-over that made her skin tingle, even though it annoyed the hell out of her. His lips curved into a knowing smirk. "You look great standing like that, you know," he said, voice low and maddeningly casual. "All that fire. And that posture—it’s doing wonders for your breasts, higlhlighting your curves..."

Serena’s cheeks flamed as she realized where his gaze was and she glared at him with even more intensity. Aiden’s smirk only widened as though her reaction was exactly what he had expected.

She narrowed her eyes, crossing her arms again—this time low enough not to give him any more of a show. "If you want this ’partnership’ to continue, Aiden," she said in a low, dangerous voice as she completely forgot that she had planned to tell him that they would not be partners and continued, "you’d better start coming clean. How do you know about Sid? And what exactly do you think you’re doing, playing whatever game this is?"

"Sid, huh? I know a lot about Sidney.. you see he is my business rival..."

"Don’t try to fool me, Aiden Hawk! I am not asking you about that! I meant what do you know about his connection to me?"

"Honestly? I know nothing about his connection to you. I know that you are special to him. But that is the extent of it."

Serena narrowed her eyes and looked into his eyes. He seemed to be speaking the truth. However, he then continued," I know enough to see that he doesn’t belong in this picture anymore. And from the look on his face just now? I think he knows it too but is not yet ready to accept. The question here is... what does he mean to you, Serena? Do you want him? Because if you do..."

Serena stiffened, refusing to let his words mess with her head. "That’s not the point and none of your business," she shot back. "I don’t need you to fight my battles. And I certainly don’t need you to stage some half-naked, territorial performance in front of Sidney to—"

"Territorial?" He arched a brow, amused. "Is that what you think this is?"

She glared at him, refusing to be swayed by his calm demeanor. "Yes, Aiden. That’s exactly what this is. You marked your territory in the most obvious way possible."

"And I am going to mark it more, Serena... Whether you like it or not, we are partners and there is no way that my partner is going to be in cahoots with the enemy."
