Falling For My Accidental CEO Husband -
Chapter 110: A Friend
Chapter 110: A Friend
"It is you! Rena! Hey, Rena!"
Serena’s heart skipped a beat at the familiar voice, but she didn’t slow down. Instead, she quickened her pace, her footsteps growing more determined with each step. She had no intention of talking to the boy calling after her. She knew exactly who it was, and the last thing she needed was to get involved with him right now. If Ava caught her speaking to this person, she’d blow the situation out of proportion—like she always did. And Serena couldn’t afford any more drama in her life.
Her goals were simple, but the wat to achieving them was not. She needed to become independent so that she would be able to move out of this prison life in the next few years or have something to her name before be ing cast out. She was given a generous allowance but she had no intention of spending it on anything other than absoultely necessary. What ever she spent, she would return before cutting ties with this family when she was older.
And that meant she had no time, energy, or patience for meaningless fights or distractions. Ava had a way of turning every little incident into a battle, and Serena wasn’t going to give her that satisfaction.
Her focus was on one thing: saving enough money to get out of here as soon as she could. Sixteen wasn’t that far away, and if she could manage to put aside enough in the next couple of years, she might just be able to escape this place even sooner. But that plan hinged on one crucial factor—her savings.
And her savings depended on her job. Being late wasn’t an option. So, with her jaw set in determination, Serena pretended not to hear the boy’s insistent shouts. She kept her head down, her gaze locked straight ahead, and let the words roll off her like water. Deaf to his calls, she reached the large apartment building where her babysitting gig awaited. Without a backward glance, she pushed open the door and stepped inside, leaving him at the door. It was only as she turned in the elevator that she mistakenly glanced outside and met his eyes as he stood there staring at her.

Hours later, Serena stepped out of the apartment building with a huge grin on her face. It had been an unexpectedly easy day. The baby had fallen asleep almost as soon as she arrived, and with the house so quiet, she’d finished her homework in record time. On top of that, she’d earned more than she expected because the parents had money to burn. Lol It was one of those rare days where everything was falling into place.
With a spring in her step, she patted the money in her pocket, already planning how she’d deposit this in the bank tomorrow and now spend the extra time at the library studying business management. But before she could bask too long in her good fortune, she nearly walked straight into someone blocking her path.
Startled, she stopped abruptly, but not before the person grabbed her elbow to steady her. Serena blinked and looked up, her eyes meeting the same boy from earlier.
"You?" She pulled her arm away, frowning. "Why are you still here?"
The boy crossed his arms, his face a mix of frustration and triumph. "I knew it. You did hear me earlier!" He jabbed a finger in her direction, his voice sharp with accusation. "You just ignored me, didn’t you? Why did you ignore me?"
Serena rolled her eyes," Are you saying that you’ve been here for the last three hours to ask me why I ignored you?"
"Of course! So, tell me!"
Serena shrugged, even as she frowned at the guy,"I was in a hurry. I didn’t have time for...whatever this is."
He narrowed his eyes, clearly not convinced. "Right. Because you’re too busy to even say hi?"
"Why would I say hi to someone whose name I don’t even know?"
"You don’t know me? Do you have amnesia or something? I am your saviour from last time! You must have really bad memory."
"You are correct. I do have a bad memory! Now please move out of my way..."
With a grin, he stepped aside and let her pass,
but instead of leaving her alone, he fell into step beside her. Serena groaned inwardly. She didn’t have time for this, especially after such a good day. All she wanted was to drop by the library, study, and stay focused on her goal. But apparently, Sidney had other plans.
"You really don’t know my name? You didn’t even ask around after I saved you? It’s Sidney," he said, a hint of irritation in his voice. "Like the place."
"Noted. I’ll try to remember next time." She would definitely not... But no need to tell him.
Sidney grinned, apparently satisfied that she at least acknowledged him, but then he pressed on. "So, where are you headed now?"
Serena shot him a look that clearly said, Mind your own business. But of course the boy had no intenton of taking the hint. Oblivious or just stubborn, Sidney matched her speed with ease.
"Home? Coffee shop? What’s the plan?"
Her grip tightened on the strap of her bag, her patience wearing thin. "Why do you care?"
Sidney shrugged, his tone casual but persistent. "I don’t. Just making conversation."
"Well, don’t." Serena snapped at the boy before stopping abruptly! They’d reached the library. Thankfully, the place did not allow people without membership to come inside and even if he chose to wait here for the next few hours, she would simply leave from the other side of the library...
"Goodbye, then."
He caught her wrist then and she glared at him. Why did he keep grabbing her? He glimpsed into her eyes and seeing the fire there, sighed and let go... "Alright, then. Goodbye Rena! Next time, don’t forget my name and instead of ignoring your friends, just say hi."
