FALLEN ANGEL: MARRIED TO THE DEMON KING
Chapter 99: THE WRATH OF THE DEMON KING (2)

Chapter 99: THE WRATH OF THE DEMON KING (2)

"Your highness, only General Nyssa and General Thaluzar are in the palace right now." Velmoria, the ever-trusty help answered him as she bound a rope, only the lands knew where the rope had come from, around the intruder’s wrists. The shadowy restraints of the king remained, but she still needed something solid to grip.

"How are they not here? Get the high lords to safety, and have someone escort the queen and her brother into the palace." The tension was palpable, visible from the way he spoke. Not even Velmoria had seen the demon king that furious before.

"Your majesty, before I leave, do you see the things that are glowing above their heads."

Varziel turned to her, "The golden ones?"

"Yes, your majesty." Velmoria visibly hesitated, before answering, "I believe I can read them."

"You can what?" Varziel’s eyes widened slightly, "Those are words?" He asked again.

Before Velmoria could respond, the ground trembled beneath them again. There was another shift in the air, and the rift in the sky grew larger this time. It was obvious that the incantation that Lady Seraphine and Lady Immera were doing was not being of much assistance anymore. The sky itself pulsed, sending a ripple of air throughout the realm. A crack sounded, loud and deafening, and from the sky, figures dropped.

Their bodies shimmered with an unnatural energy, landing with grace on the palace ground, while others landed just outside the palace ground. They did not seem like any army Varziel had seen, with the way they did not wear the same uniform or bear the same insignia.

In fact, there was no insignia that he could see. Their weapons varied wildly—some carried sleek, unfamiliar blades, while others held devices that pulsed with some glowing blue light. Some were clad in bulky armor, while others wore skintight suits made of material that could only be leather. It did not look comfortable to fight in.

Varziel stood straight, Vhalgrith, his weapon, pulsing with demonic energy.

Behind him, Velmoria dished out commands, showing Castiel where to go, with the help of the Shadow Hound, and getting the help of Young Lady Darvia to carry the captured intruder.

"We will help you fight, your majesty," Lady Immera spoke up, as she continued to struggle with the incantation.

"She is right. We must find a way to get that rift close, else I fear something larger and much more dangerous will come through it." Lady Seraphine added. She warily eyed the figures that were stretching on the battlefield, worried that they would launch an unexpected attack.

Lady Seraphine had just barely finished speaking with a horn blared, the sound echoing through the palace walls. Varziel turned his head slightly, to look up at the battlements where Lady Nyssa stood. Her short figure stood tall, with her pale hair the only thing that made her immediately recognizable.

She had tied her white hair up in a ponytail, and she wore black armor that must have taken her a few minutes to don. She held a serpents spear in her hands, a spear with a coiling and segmented shaft that only she could use. She turned back to face the courtyard after she was done blowing her horn, and a pair large silver wings, which she normally hid were stretched out.

With a powerful gust of wind that tore through the courtyard, she descended from the battlements, her black armor glistening in the sunlight. The tip of her spear glowed with a red light, as it drank in the power of her demonic energy.

"Your Majesssty!" General Nyssa called, her voice sharp as steel. "We ssstand ready!" Just before she landed, one of the intruders also unfolded a pair of wings, and jumped to attack her. General Nyssa did not hesitate to strike him down with her spear, causing the golden letters to appear above his head, before he burst into rectangular fragments of light.

Varziel’s eyes flicked to the golden letters that momentarily hovered above the vanishing enemy. The symbols shimmered, melting into each other, shifting slightly before dissolving into nothing.

Velmoria had just told him she could read them.

He wanted to turn to her, to ask her what those characters meant, but she had gone to the palace to do as he had instructed. Varziel gripped his weapon, irritated at himself.

The eerie glow of the golden letters had barely faded before a deafening roar shattered the air.

General Thaluzar had arrived.

The ground shook violently as the massive demon general descended onto the battlefield, landing with enough force to crack the stone beneath him. Blue flames burst from the seams of his black armor, licking at the air with hunger. The tip of his two horns were ignited in a blue flame that matched the flames on the rest of his body.

"I apologize for being late, your majesty," he said as he struck down one of the intruders who tried to attack him. "There were some pests that needed to be taken care of first." His weapon was large, a hammer that looked as if it had been forged from the bones of a great beast, with its surface etched with glowing red runes. The weight of it alone should have made it unwieldy, yet in General Thaluzar’s hands, it moved with a terrifying speed.

Varziel watched as the hammer crashed into another intruder, the force sending a shockwave through the air. The enemy’s body shattered like brittle glass, the golden letters appearing for a mere moment before fading.

"There were attackersss on your end asss well?" General Nyssa asked as she continued to strike down more and more intruders. They continued to fall from the sky as pests.

"Glad you could join us Generals." Lady Immera called out. There was a sheen of sweat on her brow.

"Couldn’t misssss it." General Nyssa answered.

General Thaluzar simply gave her a small bow, before crushing another attacker with the weight of his war hammer.

Where General Nyssa fought with speed, General Thaluzar fought with brute strength.

Varziel was perplexed. Compared to the first three who had attacked him, these ones seemed weaker. With one flick of his weapon, they had disintegrated into particles, and they barely even put up a fight.

It is as if they were inexperienced.

Just as that thought crossed Varziel’s mind, a voice rang out behind him. "Your Majesty!"

Velmoria had returned. With her, was Malrick. Both the Incubus and Succubus held whips in their hands, throwing anyone who got in their way. Velmoria’s eyes locked onto his the moment he turned, her expression grim. Malrick, at her side, was also focused on the enemies, his whip coiling around the throat of an attacker before he yanked it tight, watching the invader burst into golden fragments with a detached expression.

"The queen is safe, Lord Castiel is treating her wounds." She answered the question Varziel wanted to ask. He gave her a nod.

"Your majesty, there are more of them in the town." Malrick was breathing heavy at this point. He was not an incubus meant for fights. "I saw more of those... things fall into the town."

"I have sssent sssome of the knightsss from my sssquadron to protect the townssspeople." General Nyssa said as she passed by them.

"As did I."

Varziel held out his hand, stopping an attacker with his palm. His entire palm fit over the attacker’s face and he crushed it inward. "Then the main issue is the rift in the sky that keeps bringing more of them." Like all the others, she disappeared in motes of light.

Varziel wasted no time. "Velmoria!" he barked. "You said you could **read** those golden symbols, translate them Now."

Velmoria stepped forward, her eyes flicking to the battlefield, where another of the invaders was struck down. The golden letters appeared above his disintegrating form, flickering in and out of existence.

She narrowed her eyes, lips moving as if sounding the words out silently. "It says minus 800 hp. Wasted."

Varziel’s grip on Vhalgrith tightened. His expression remained impassive, but the weight of what Velmoria had just said settled like a stone in his gut. He had no idea what it meant, but it felt like it did not bode well.

"Minus 500 HP?"

"What in the abyss does that mean?" General Thaluzar growled, his hammer resting against his shoulder. Blue flames flickered along its runes as he crushed another invader beneath his boot.

Velmoria’s tail flicked behind her as she struggled to piece together what she had just read. "I am sorry, I do not know." She said finally. The words melded into each other in golden light, before more appeared, "Respawn in 30 seconds," she subconsciously read.

S/T:

Fun fact

Lady Immera used to be one of the 6 demon generals. She worked for the previous demon king and was the first female ever to become a general. Her husband married into the family and loved to spoil her. However, he died a few years before Varziel became king, leaving Lady Immera alone to care for their children. She loves them, but they are untrustworthy with the title, hence why she is still Lady of Immera.
