FALLEN ANGEL: MARRIED TO THE DEMON KING
Chapter 42: THE DISASTROUS MEETING (2)

Chapter 42: THE DISASTROUS MEETING (2)

Another demon with dark hair turned to the first demon, "This is not the time or the place, Morvath." He was clearly chastising, the first demon, "We welcome you to the demon realm Your Highness. I hope you find it to your liking."

Arella squinted her eyes so slightly. The demon looked familiar, but she could not place a finger on where she had seen him before, "Thank you. You may all continue as if I am not here." She waved a hand.

"I think it important for us to introduce ourselves before we go on," the second demon spoke once more, "If you will allow us, your majesty," he bowed his head to King Varziel.

"As you wish." King Varziel took the seat next to Arella. His scent was even stronger now, making Arella dizzy.

The second demon rose from his seat, and placed a gauntleted hand over his chest. His long dark hair had been tied in a ponytail at the top of his head. He gave a bow, "I am General Kaelzarin, Your Highness. I command the Vanguard. My forces guard the borders of our kingdom from monsters who threaten the lives of the demon folk." His eyes were a deep oceanic blue which were a bright contrast with his dark hair. A tail swished gently behind him. It was thick, more like a lizard’s tail. It was then that Arella realized where she had seen him. He was the demon that had handed King Varziel his rings at the wedding.

The first demon, who had a frown etched onto his face, spoke up next, "General Morvath," His bow was as lazy as his demeanor, "I lead the Shadow Legion." His dark brown hair was short, cropped close to his head. His golden eyes studied Arella as he raised back up from his bow, "We specialize in covert operations. There is nothing in this realm that we are not aware of."

"Except the deaths of the demons in the South." A female voice coughed out.

Arella found herself snickering.

"We are getting to the bottom of that." General Morvath rolled his golden eyes.

A female demon was next to stand. Her hair was silver and cold. She bowed slightly. The edges of the armor she wore were tinged with a light layer of frost and there were runes that glowed blue etched to the center of the armor. "I am General Lilithia. I lead the army of sorcerers. " Arella immediately knew she was the one who had thrown shade at General Morvath. She already liked her.

The next demon to rise was a hulking figure. The demon was so big that he did not quite fit in his chair. His skin was a pale shade of Ashen gray, and scars crisscrossed his face. Arella could not help but stare at the two towering horns which poked out from the sides of his head, "General Thaluzar. My men and I are the first line of defense against any thing that threatens our realm." Despite his hulking frame, the presence of this demon was a silent almost non existent hum.

The next general to rise was a striking contrast to Thaluzar. She was much much shorter in stature, and her presence seemed to reverberate in the entire room when she stood. Her hair was pale white and she had let it flow down her back all the way to the backs of her ankles. Her armor was light, and her movements as she gave a bow to Arella were graceful and almost dance-like. "I am General Nyssa." Her voice was just as soft as she looked. She enunciated the ’s’ in her name, reminding Arella of a snake. "I lead the palace knights. My battalion would willingly die to protect this place."

Arella was surprised upon hearing this. She looked too pretty, yet she was leading an army of her own.

The last of the generals stood. His height was average of all of them. His aura was unsettling, making up for what he lacked for in stature. His black robes hung loosely around his frame, and his cold gaze fell on Arella before he bowed. His hair, a red shade that Arella had never seen up close before, hung over his eyes as he bowed. His hands, which were clasped in front of him, were encased in black gloves. "General Seraphon. I lead the poison army."

Arella would have gasped out loud if she had not caught herself in time. She knew of the Poison Army. She remembered her brother getting injured once many years before. Her mother had worked tirelessly for a whole month to get him back into shape.

General Seraphon was clearly a demon of few words. He took his seat, then looked at the demon king.

Arella looked at the others who had not introduced themselves, however, they made no move to introduce themselves to her. "It is a pleasure to meet you all." She gave a soft nod.

"Now that introductions are complete," King Varziel stood up once more, "Shall we return to the matter that has brough us here? The response to what Malrick saw in the South. Continue with your report, Morvath."

"As I was saying," Morvath spoke without standing, "One of my soldiers was in the area that day. However, they were unable to get to the village until the next day. By then the shroud and those who were the cause of it were gone." He took out a small piece of fabric from his cloak, "He was, however, able to get this from the site."

The material was quickly passed up over to the King. King Varziel picked it up and rubbed his fingers through it. Once he was done studying it, he gave it to Arella.

A little surprised that she was actually being included in the discussion, she took the fabric from him. It was a light shade of blue, and slightly tough. It was nothing like any of the fabric she had ever touched and encountered before. She rubbed it in between her fingers. The rough material almost looked like a naturally woven texture. The surface had a distinct coarseness and the fibers poked out from the edges.

She traced the uneven threads, noticing how tightly they were stitched together. Although the material was sturdy, it was not as stiff as burlap or canvas. She pulled at the edges, testing how resilient it was. It did not tear nor did it stretch, the material was clearly made to hold its shape and last for a long time.

Having nothing to do with it, she passed it back to King Varziel who was listening to more of the report from General Morvath.

"I have sent a few of my men to look into the source of this fabric. If we can find the source, then we can find those who caused the strange magic."

"That was a good decision." King Varziel said as he took the fabric back from Arella. "I also sent out a few demons from the department of special demons to the site. If the magic has its roots in the demon realm, they will figure that out."

"How do we know it is not an angel who sneaked into our realm. Who is to say that they did not breach the treaty?" General Nyssa’s words were unexpected.

"She speaks the truth." General Morvath added, "If the magic has no roots in the demon realm, it may very well have its roots in the angel realm. It is not like all the magic that they have is clean." He scoffed, "Perhaps some of the angels decided to dabble in dark magic and decided to come to the demon realm to hide their tracks."

Their words simply made Arella raise a brow, "To begin with, that fabric does not belong to the angelic realm." She pointed at the fabric that King Varziel still held in his hands, "Angels would not wear such coarse cloth. All our clothing are made of soft material like silk, cotton or velvet and that," she placed her arm on the table, and rested her chin on her knuckles. "is nothing like any material I have ever seen."

"What about the human realm?" General Thaluzar spoke up.

"How would humans make it to the demon realm though? I doubt the magic they were gifted with is strong enough to make a door between the realms." General Kaelzarin tapped a finger on the table as he spoke.

"You seem to forget that some humans have the power to summon demons as familiars. If a human is strong enough they can even summon our king!" General Morvath countered.

"There has never been a human that strong before." General Seraphon offered. His words were ignored as General Morvath continued.

"If a high ranked demon was summoned by a human, they could have gotten the demon to open a portal to the demon realm!"

"What about the fabric then? Does it come from the human realm?" General Kaelzarin’s tapping was faster now. "Do you have proof that it comes from there? Have you even done enough research before coming here with what ifs?"
