FALLEN ANGEL: MARRIED TO THE DEMON KING -
Chapter 129: GOING BACK HOME (2)
Chapter 129: GOING BACK HOME (2)
"Then, what questions are you willing to answer?" Arella laughed, feeling that his reactions were immensely cute.
"I don’t wanna answer any."
He was acting like a petulant child, but she found that she quite did not mind it. "Then, tell me about mates." She finally said. "I think I need to at least know about that, seeing as we are mates and all."
"I guess I can tell you about mates." He was still hesitant to speak which was made clear with the way he ground his hips against hers in an attempt to distract her. Both of them moaned.
"Nuh-uh." Arella pinched his ear, "we need to talk first. You won’t distract me this time." She could feel how breathless her voice was, but she refused to go another day without having at least one of her questions answered.
"What do you want to know exactly?" His voice seemed to make her whole body vibrate with need, especially with how close to her ear he was speaking.
"I have not found any books in the library Velmoria showed me that speaks about mates and bonds in the demon realm."
King Varziel chuckled, "I am not surprised at that, the story of mates is one that is passed down to every demon as they grow up, as such there has never been a large need for books that tell the story of them. I will have Velmoria send you a few that I know exist."
Arella was glad he was taking initive to let her do some research at the very least.
"That would be perfect. Then, tell me, answering either option A, which is yes, or option B which is no, are we mates in the sense of demons."
He nodded against her neck.
"No. Speak to me, your highness."
"Option A, which is yes." he parroted her earlier words.
"I know that a bond strengthens a demon, and balances your power. I do not think I am capable of giving you that." She was plucking at his hair absentmindedly by this point, but he did not seem to mind.
"On the contrary, my queen. Your very presence is a balm to my soul. I can assure you, that at least our bond is working normally." He wrapped a hand around her waist loosely, "You calm me just be existing."
"Does my holy power not hurt you in the slightest?"
"Hurt me?" He laughed as if that was the silliest thing that he had ever heard.
"Yes, although I have not used it on you to harm you on purpose, an holy power still seeps through my pores seeing as I am alive." She sent some power to the halo that hovered above her locks, "my halo can only do so much to regulate my power after all."
"The halo of an angel regulates their power?" He asked. Arella could feel that he was looking for a way to change the topic, but she was not going to let him get away from her grilling.
"More like it prevents my holy power from going out of control. But that is not the point. I do not dislike you terribly, so I doubt that I want you to die at this moment, so do tell me what I can do to make your power balanced, on the count of us being mates."
King Varziel’s body visibly froze, and he hesitated for a second before finally pushing his body up and looking down at Arella. "Do you really mean that?"
"That I wish to make your power balanced?"
"No, the other thing."
"That I do not dislike you?"
If he were a dog, and he had ears and a tail, they would swish with how excited he seemed with this information, "So that would mean that you like me, correct?" He asked, that dimpled smile resting on his lips.
Arella laughed, "Of everything I say, is that what you are taking out of this conversation?"
"It is an important matter that I would like to confirm." His eyes were literally sparkling with how he was looking at Arella.
"Yes," she sighed, "I guess we can say that I do like you just a little bit."
He lowered his head to give her a kiss on the lips. "That is wonderful."
She pulled their lips apart, knowing that if they continued, she would get swept away by him again, "Now that I have answered your question, answer mine."
"Oh yes," he perked up as if he had forgotten that she had asked him a question, "In my family, the male and female usually mark each other."
"Mark?" Arella was confused. She had no recollection of such a thing.
"Of course, I do not wish for us to do it if you are against it." He blushed from the base of his neck all the way to the tips of his ears.
"I did not say that I am against it, I just do not know what it entails."
"Well, it is quite simple really," he ran a finger down her neck, rubbing at the juncture where her shoulder and neck met, "I would need to bite you here, really hard enough to draw blood, and you would do the same to me."
Arella blinked twice.
She had read some novels back when she was bored up in the human realm. Some of them were about werewolves and how they would brutally bite each other to mark each other as mates. It was usually described as bloody, disgusting and overall dark.
They were not something that Arella had ever thought that she would be a part of, but here she was, discussing it with her demon husband.
How time flies.
"How much blood would we need to draw from each other’s necks?" She asked after a long period of silence. "Will I be alive after it?"
**PART 2**
King Varziel softly chuckled, his fingers tracing soft patterns over Arella’s skin. His touch made her shiver slightly every time. "You will absolutely be alive, my queen. It is not as... savage as I think you might be imagining." As if to prove his point, he took a light nip of her shoulder, "The bite will not drain any blood to any dangerous extent, just enough for our energies to merge together. It will also be a mark of permanence. I will not get another partner for as long as I live. I am not sure if the same will apply to you, seeing as you are an angel."
Arella tilted her head, processing his words, "Symbolic? How does that work exactly?"
"It forms a bond, in our case, your holy power and my demonic energy will merge, and in turn our bond will be deepened. Those who have the ability to see auras or sense bonds may very well be able to see the bond better though."
Arella’s shut her eyes, as an uncertain feeling washed over her. Did she really want to be bonded to this demon for the rest of her life?
Marriage was different. She could kill him and run away from him if she ever got tired of him or if he ever showed that he was different than what he was showing her at that moment. It would very well cause her to get forever attached to a demon who may be using her for something she did not know yet.
Just the thought of it made her want to bash his head in although he had not even done anything wrong.
"Will it hurt?" She asked finally. "At the very least, I would not want it to hurt."
"Ah, I do not know the specifics, but I heard that the pain is brief before it gives way to some sort of euphoria." Arella could nto see his face, but she could tell that he was blushing. That made her want to tease him even more.
"So you experience with this?"
He stiffened visibly before shaking his head. "Like I already told you, you are my only mate, my queen. No other living being will ever get in the way of that."
Her chest tightened at the sincerity in his tone, "So you mean that if we do this, mark each other, it is forever, we will be bound together forever."
He raised his head, and searched for her eyes in the dim light. "Yes. Forever."
Silence stretched between them as Arella considered his words. Her fingers toyed with the fabric of his tunic, and her mind raced with thoughts. Forever felt like such an immense and daunting concept. Angels lived for millennia, and if he died before her, would she still be able to survive without his presence?
Still, she could not deny the strange pull she had felt towards him the entirety of her stay with him, the one week she had stayed with him.
"Alright," Arella finally whispered, "I am willing to think about it seriously and consider it."
