FALLEN ANGEL: MARRIED TO THE DEMON KING
Chapter 119: THE FIGHT BACK HOME (2)

Chapter 119: THE FIGHT BACK HOME (2)

Arella turned her gaze to the demons who had been fighting with her brother.

Her maids, and the demon who worked with the Demon King.

"I cannot leave you to go fight alone!" Castiel was ready to protest to that.

"I did not say I would fight alone." Arella gave him a cool look. "I need you to lend me your power for a little while, just at the right time." She looked past him, to the window that lay on the wall behind the wall that had been broken through. In the sky, a large dark rift swirled. The intruders fell from the sky in large waves.

"I have to close that rift." Arella said in a low voice.

"General Lilithia and her squadron are working on closing the rift your highness." Solenne curtsied, and all the other maids quickly followed suit. Shazirath hurried to bow after they had.

"What Solenne means is that we wish for you to stay and rest. The king will handle everything. You need not worry." Xyra added.

"Obviously. He’s sooner die than let anyone harm you." Lysia snickered.

Arella turned to look at her maids. "You have all fought very hard for me, an angel. I thank you for that."

"You are our queen," Lysia was the one to speak up first this time.

Solenne raised her head slightly, "And even if you were not our queen, I would have still fought to protect you, your majesty."

Arella gripped her staff, "thank you, for seeing me as one worthy of your protection. I believe it is now my turn to protect you all. I will fight next to the king."

The air in the chamber shifted, and Arella’s words seemed to hang over the room. She had touched the hearts of the demons present, though she was yet to know how big of an impact her words had.

Her golden eyes gleamed and her halo seemed to shimmer even brighter. "If you are unable to fight, then I advice you stay here and rest. If you are able to fight, and want to join, please stay in the back. I do not want any of you to get hurt again." She poured out a small amount of her healing power, muttered a spell underneath her breath, and a small flood of light spread from the crystal orb at the to of her staff.

"Ella." Castiel’s voice was soft. He was tempted to ask what had changed her. Why her holy power did not feel the same, why she seemed like a different angel.

Arella tilted her head up to look at him, then a faint, mischievous smile graced her lips, "I am still your annoying little sister Cassie. I need you to clean up after me after this you know, as your little sister. My life is incomplete if I am unable to bother you."

A puff of breath escaped Castiel. A half laugh, and half exhale of relief. "If you think that I am letting you take that rift without backup, you have got another thing coming."

Arella rolled her eyes, "Didn’t I just say that I needed your power Cassie? Did you turn deaf?" She teased, the Arella he was used to shining through her holy brilliance for just a second.

Castiel shook his head. Lowering his hands, he let out a fond sigh, "What is the plan? What do you need me to do?"

Arella looked at the wave of intruders who were falling to the ground outside. She could not even sense the Demon King’s power. The enemies were too many for the demons to deal with alone. This was mainly because of the way they spawned back even after being killed.

The discussion on what to be done was short, and within a few moments, a plan had been formed.

"Solenne, Xyra, Lysia, Shazirath, you have all done more than I would have asked of you. Keep the palace safe until my brother and I return." Arella addressed the demons one last time. It was a better idea for them to stay back and protect the palace while they went to the front lines.

"May the stars light your path, your highness." The demons gave the queen bows.

With that, Arella and Castiel took to the sky, their staffs held in their hands. The churning darkness in the sky was massive, swirling with energy. The forces below were stretched thin. Many of the demons were injured, yet still continued to fight. It was not that the demon forces were such a small number, but that the intruders were such a large number, that the demons were having a hard time keeping up with them.

As they soared through the sky, the demon realm greeted them with dusk-kissed clouds which were a stark contrast to the war that was going on below. The vortex above still churned, an ugly, twisting thing that marred the beauty of the sunset. From the sky, Arella had a clear view of the battlefield below.

There were bodies strewn all over the ground. Bodies that Arella was sure belonged to demons. Castiel’s presence behind her was like a soothing balm. She could feel him behind her, the way his power flared behind her reminded her of all the times that they had fought together.

Varziel stood at the heart of the chaos, and from the sky, Arella could see him clearly. He held a large sword in his hands, slicing down the enemies as if they were nothing. Still, he was terribly outnumbered. He seemed to be holding on with pure will and nothing more.

Then as if sensing her presence, he looked up at the sky. Within mere seconds, he had pinpointed where they were. He was fighting three enemies at once, as if they were nothing but insignificant pests. Within a few seconds, he had finished them off and there was nothing left save for the little blue and green motes of rectangular light.

Castiel, who was still hovering behind her, raised his staff, and a blinding light filled the area around where the demon king fought. Then, a barrier of light covered the demon king. Castiel gave Arella a small smile, "Go to him, Ella. I’ve got your back."

Avella glanced back and gave her brother a grateful smile before slowly descending to the ground.

Varziel looked up at her as she descended from the sky. His eyes were dazed but Arella could see the joy in his eyes. "My Queen!" He called out as she landed. Arella literally jumped into his arms, gripping him in a hug tighter than the one she had given her brother. His scent immediately quelled the worries that had been swimming in her chest.

He gripped her tighter than she was gripping him, pressing her tightly onto his form. If she had been human, she was sure that he would have broken a few of her ribs, if not all of them.

His hand moved to her hair patting it gently, as if afraid that she would fall or disappear at any moment. "You have no idea how worried I was. How terrified I was when I saw you lying on the ground like that. You are not allowed to scare me like that ever again, my queen."

Arella thought back to the vision she had seen of him lying dead on the ground.

"I think I might have an idea of just how scared you were." She muttered as she nuzzled into his chest. Her halo hummed with her contact to the demon king. Arella was tall for a female, but Varziel still towered over her height, and she fit quite snugly into his chest. She took in deep lungfuls of his scent, which calmed her in ways that she could not explain.

The air he exuded quelled the fear that Arella had gotten from the vision that had been shown to her. One of the last visions that she had seen of him had been of him dying. She had been afraid that her vision was going to be an actual reality for her when she was transported back by the Vixiante Para. How glad she was that it was just a vision and that he was alive and well. If it had been an actual prediction of events that were to transpire in the future, then at least it had yet to happen, and she could stop it.
