As it approached Xiaoshi’s nap time, Shen Zhiyi, fearing he would have nightmares because of the morning’s events, told Pei Yu everything, asking him to comfort the baby properly.

Pei Yu had a social engagement at noon and when he came back the child was already asleep. His eyelids were a bit swollen from crying in the morning, and he was sleeping sprawled out with his little blanket, seemingly without any psychological trauma.

He quietly watched him for a while, not wanting to disturb him, but Xiaoshi woke up on his own. Seeing his father, he was very happy, rolling towards him and crawling into his arms, crisply calling out, "Daddy!"

"Hmm," Pei Yu said, lifting the child by the bottom. The child, spoiled, didn’t like to sleep with clothes on and now his bare bottom, plump and exposed.

He grabbed some pants for Xiaoshi to wear and asked in a low voice, "Were you scared today?"

Xiaoshi pursed his lips, unhappy and feeling embarrassed, "A little."

"Did you cry too?"

Xiaoshi pursed his lips tighter and remained silent.

Although he knew crying wasn’t a bad thing, he still felt embarrassed because his mom wasn’t actually injured.

Pei Yu stroked his head and said gently, "Xiaoshi did great, you remember what dad told you, right?"

He had once told him to seek his help immediately if he encountered something he couldn’t handle, whether he was nearby or not.

Xiaoshi clearly remembered.

The child looked up, thought for a moment, and said earnestly, "It’s very important, Mom, find dad."
