Chapter 129: Chapter 129: Slightly Drunken.
"I’m serious, Brother Pei has really crossed the line, got himself a wife and forgot all about his buddies. Count the days—we haven’t hung out together in ages," Qin Fang tilted his head back and downed a glass of alcohol, drowning in sorrow, "We’re not even truly together now. If he gets married and takes her home, where do we stand?"
After replying to the message, Fu Songzhi put down his phone and looked at Qin Fang’s weepy face with a hint of disgust, "Why are you acting like a nagging wife? What’s this about ’where do we stand’? Are you planning to be sisters with Shen Zhiyi?"
"I’m heartbroken," Qin Fang felt that no one in the world understood him, "I never expected Brother Pei to be totally wrapped around someone’s finger like this. You wait and see, once he gets married, if Shen Zhiyi says no, he certainly won’t come to our gatherings anymore."
Every other word was Shen Zhiyi, steeped in jealousy; anyone who didn’t know better might think he was her rival in love.
Fu Songzhi thought he was overthinking, "It won’t come to that. Brother Pei is getting married, not having a lobotomy— if he doesn’t hang out with us, it’s not because Shen Zhiyi doesn’t allow it, but because he finds you annoying."
"Ha," Qin Fang poured himself another full glass, "You still don’t get it. Brother Pei’s heart is completely tied to Shen Zhiyi. Do you think there’s still room for us?"
Fu Songzhi wanted to say something but spotted someone coming their way and couldn’t help but chuckle. He pushed the wine glass forward, prepared the drink and said maliciously, "Let’s see if you have the guts to say that to Brother Pei’s face."
The drink was ready, and Pei Yu came over, slumping into a seat and lazily looking up, "What is it?"
"He’s very jealous," Fu Songzhi joked, summarizing the conversation they just had, then indulged the still brooding Qin Fang, "See, Brother Pei still came, didn’t he?"
"Didn’t you go to find Shen Zhiyi?" Qin Fang asked with a tinge of sourness.
"She’s shooting a scene," Pei Yu lifted his glass casually, "I’ll pick her up later."
"You see!" Qin Fang lamented to Fu Songzhi, tearfully, "We’ve already become his second choice."
"Enough," Fu Songzhi was thoroughly annoyed, "Why don’t you find yourself a wife too?"
Pei Yu was in a good mood and chimed in, "I can introduce someone to you."
"Don’t bother," Qin Fang had no intention of getting married; he had thought he and Pei Yu would stay bachelors together, but now it seemed he was doomed to be abandoned early, "Drink up, drink up, no one’s holding back today. Everyone drink more."
Past 11 PM, Shen Zhiyi’s filming wrapped up, and she got a call from Secretary Qin—Pei Yu was at a gathering with Qin Fang and Fu Songzhi, had had a few drinks, and she was asked whether she wanted a car to pick her up first, or to wait for Pei Yu to get away from those two good brothers.
"I’ll go myself, just give me the address."
Upon arrival, not wanting to be recognized, Shen Zhiyi put on a mask for a bit of disguise and went looking for the private room number Secretary Qin had given her.
"Where’s Brother Pei?" A drunken Qin Fang noticed Pei Yu was missing and immediately inquired, "How long has he been gone? Where did he run off to?"
"He hasn’t left," Fu Songzhi, the best drinker among the three, reached out to move the glass from his hand, "He went to the restroom. Slow down with the drinking; you’ll feel terrible tomorrow if you keep this up."
Shen Zhiyi, standing a few steps away, heard Fu Songzhi and didn’t move any closer. She gave him a silent wave and then went looking for Pei Yu in the restroom.
To prevent intoxicated guests from getting into trouble, there were staff members stationed outside the restroom. As Shen Zhiyi approached, she was stopped by a very young man who asked her business.
Because she was wearing a mask and dressed in ordinary casual clothes, the man didn’t recognize her. After seeing her a few times casually, he said dismissively, "The restroom here is out of service."
Shen Zhiyi paid no attention to his scrutinizing gaze, "I’m looking for someone."
"Looking for someone?" The man clearly didn’t believe her, gave her a few more looks, and showed a knowing expression, "If you’re trying to pick up men, at least choose the right place. The clients here aren’t for you. Move along, or I’ll call security."
Really, he had no idea how she managed to get upstairs.
Having worked here for a while, he had encountered many women who came specifically to ’fish’. Although Shen Zhiyi wasn’t dressed as flashy or glamorous as those women, he could still tell she was good-looking and had a nice figure, so he categorized her as one of them without a second thought.
Because of what he said, Shen Zhiyi took a serious look at him, frowning slightly.
A few steps away, the door to the restroom opened from the inside, and Pei Yu stood at the doorway looking over here. Being drunk, his reaction was much slower, and he didn’t speak right away.
The young man quickly went up to him, "Mr. Pei,"
Seeing Pei Yu looking at Shen Zhiyi, he thought he was upset about being disturbed and hurriedly said, "I’m sorry, I’ll get rid of the person—"
"Pei Yu."
Shen Zhiyi asked, "Aren’t you coming over?"
When she called his name, Pei Yu sobered up a bit, came over and took her hand, his tone languid, "When did you get here?"
"Just now," Shen Zhiyi saw the faint blush on his neck and knew he must have drunk quite a bit, "Do you always drink so much at every gathering?"
She had just come in from outside, bringing with her a coolness. Pei Yu, holding her hand, quickly warmed her icy fingertips to his own temperature. He took two seconds to answer, "Not necessarily."
He squinted slightly, as if recalling something, chuckled softly, and whispered, "Happy today."
After a while, he changed his statement, almost complaining, "Qin Fang kept urging me to drink."
"Then remember to refuse him next time."
Shen Zhiyi knew that Qin Fang got even drunker than this, silently marking him as someone to be wary of. Next time, if Qin Fang called him to drink again, she had to remind Pei Yu not to drink so much.
"Alright."
Pei Yu agreed.
After greeting the two people inside the box, mainly the sober Fu Songzhi, Shen Zhiyi turned back before leaving and said something offhandedly.
"That waiter at the restroom door," she didn’t elaborate, "Could Mr. Fu please relay a message to him for me?"
She said indifferently, "Whether it’s prejudice or stereotyping, he has offended me."
After pondering for two seconds, Fu Songzhi probably understood what she meant, nodded with a smile, meaningfully, "He will regret it."
Pei Yu was drunk and not as sharp as usual, not quite understanding what she said.
"What?"
"Nothing," Shen Zhiyi led him outside, curious to what extent he was drunk, "How drunk are you now?"
"Hmm," once they got into the elevator, Pei Yu held her in his embrace, "Seven or eight out of ten."
Shen Zhiyi nodded, "Have Secretary Qin take you back to Huating for a good rest."
"Huh?" Pei Yu furrowed his brow, not falling for the trap easily, "Not going back to Huating."
He said in a low voice, "Staying with you."
Shen Zhiyi then understood, seven or eight out of ten drunk meant he still knew where he wanted to go back to stay.
