Chapter 108 My dad is Pei Yu.
Chapter 108: Chapter 108 My dad is Pei Yu.
At the first ray of morning light, the preset alarm sounded, gradually dispelling the drowsiness. Shen Zhiyi wanted to reach for the alarm clock on the bedside table just as usual. She moved a bit but felt as though she was restrained and couldn’t turn over.
She became more alert slowly, opening her eyes gently and blinking away the mist of sleep in her eyes, only to see a pale chest in front of her. She was nestled in someone’s arms, her usual sleeping position, with one hand resting on his chest instinctively.
Such a posture was not unfamiliar to Shen Zhiyi; on many nights cuddled in sleep, Pei Yu always liked to hold her like this.
Still not fully aware, she actually didn’t realize something was wrong for a moment and subconsciously snuggled deeper into his embrace. Only when she felt the warm touch in the palm of her hand did she suddenly come to her senses.
How did she end up in Pei Yu’s arms?
Struggling to look back, she saw that the other side of the bed was empty, and she had no idea where Duan Jiaze had been taken by him.
As soon as she moved, Pei Yu pulled her back into his embrace. He had gone to bed very late and was still not rested enough. He nuzzled into the nape of her neck and his lips brushed against hers, which felt like an accidental kiss.
Shen Zhiyi pushed him away forcefully, her hands were initially pressing against his chest. He was shirtless, and the touch was so warm it made her blush, hurriedly, she moved her hands to his arm, somewhat annoyed, "Pei Yu!"
Being called by his name, Pei Yu half-opened his eyes, lifting his head from her neck with a hoarse voice, "Hmm?" his hand still around her waist.
The two were extremely close, and after Pei Yu lifted his head, Shen Zhiyi became even more flustered. Her gaze flickered between his lips and the slight movement at his throat, unsure where to look.
All she could do was cover her eyes with one hand and push Pei Yu away with the other, "Let me go."
Pei Yu, who had been pushed back, moved slightly. Languid with sleepiness, he lay back on the bed and watched her getting out of it. It took him a few seconds before he sat up.
After she had finished washing up, Shen Zhiyi came out only to see him sitting on the bed, shirtless, with the covers around his waist, his eyes bleary and posture lazy, resembling someone after a reckless night.
She turned her face away, taking the cellphone from the bedside table, not even wanting to ask how he had pulled her into his arms, "Where’s Jiaze?"
She went to the living room to check and, seeing no one on the sofa, thought surely he hadn’t made the kid sleep somewhere else.
"Hmm?" Pei Yu rubbed his hair, then remembered not only the two of them had slept on the bed; leaning over, he indeed saw Duan Jiaze on the carpet beside the bed, "Here."
Supposedly, he had fallen off the bed during his sleep, with half his body under the bed.
Shen Zhiyi: "..."
She gave him a stealthy glare, lifting the kid up. Just then, Duan Jiaze woke up, surprised to find himself sleeping on the floor, "Why am I sleeping here?"
Pei Yu reached out to take him, he was so heavy that Shen Zhiyi had a hard time holding him. She placated the child evasively, "You thought it was comfy to sleep on the floor."
The carpet was thick, indeed not a bad place to sleep, Duan Jiaze asked puzzled, "How come I don’t remember anything?"
"You told me in your sleep talking."
Shen Zhiyi took out the clothes Duan Jiaze was to wear. Pei Yu took them casually and helped him put them on.
"Really?" Duan Jiaze accepted the explanation, but soon his attention was diverted to something else, "But uncle, why aren’t you wearing a shirt?"
He moved his little hands, looking at his belly and then at Pei Yu’s and asked with envy, "Uncle, do all adults look like you?"
With very pretty muscles.
Pei Yu arched an eyebrow, setting him down on the floor, "Of course not."
Taking the kid to wash up in the bathroom, Pei Yu scooped up a handful of water and splashed it on his face, completely waking up. Thinking of something, he asked Duan Jiaze, "Do you still want to change uncles?"
He thought Huo Heng was going to settle scores after the fall, so Duan Jiaze shook his head guiltily in quick succession, "I’m not changing, not changing."
He felt this uncle of his was quite good, too.
"Really?" Pei Yu looked at him expressionlessly, "You don’t want Meng Qiming to be your new uncle anymore?"
"Don’t want to, don’t want to," Duan Jiaze hung his head and said dejectedly, "I know I was wrong, Uncle, please forget about this incident."
"I’m not here to settle scores with you," Pei Yu said mildly, "I’m just reminding you, if you don’t want to switch uncles, then you better watch over Zhizhi well."
Duan Jiaze blinked, "Are you afraid Zhizhi might get kidnapped?"
Thoughtfully, he said, "Uncle Meng is indeed very good, tall, with a handsome smile, the type Zhizhi likes—uh-uh!"
His mouth was covered again, as Pei Yu gave him a glance, "All you need to do is nod."
Alright, Duan Jiaze nodded obediently and promised, "I will look after Zhizhi well."
True to his word, he wasn’t only cautious of Meng Qiming but also of other men, since there were really quite a few handsome guys around Shen Zhiyi.
"Ah," Duan Jiaze sat on a small stool and sighed deeply, "Too many."
With all those handsome guys, some even younger than his uncle, he truly couldn’t guard against them all.
"Why the sigh," Xiaodong snagged half his packet of chips, "Why hasn’t your uncle taken you back yet?"
It had been so many days since he stayed at Sister Zhiyi’s place.
The child spoke mysteriously, "I have a mission to complete."
With that, upon seeing a strange handsome guy talking to Shen Zhiyi, he ran over immediately.
"Mom," he looked up, innocently, "Who is this uncle?"
Shen Zhiyi: "...Don’t call people randomly."
She genuinely suspected that Pei Yu had secretly taught the kid all sorts of nonsense.
The unfamiliar handsome guy was the assistant director from the neighboring crew. Their crew had an actor who fell ill and couldn’t perform, so they wanted to ask Shen Zhiyi to fill in temporarily. The part was small; if all went well, it could all be shot in half an hour.
After getting the director Meng’s permission, Shen Zhiyi took Duan Jiaze along, originally not intending to bring him, but he insisted on following.
Upon reaching the crew, he was surprised to find Xu Xia, whom he hadn’t seen for a long time.
After Huo Heng announced his withdrawal from the industry, the drama he and Xu Xia were shooting had to be recast and shot again. Not finding a suitable replacement would delay the shooting greatly, significantly affecting Xu Xia, perhaps that’s why she joined another crew, though not as the lead.
This time, Xu Xia didn’t come over to strike a conversation, instead, she watched from a distance, waiting until Shen Zhiyi started shooting before approaching.
Eyeing Duan Jiaze, she remembered hearing him call Shen Zhiyi "Mom," "Is your dad Huo Heng?"
Shen Zhiyi had known Huo Heng for so many years; although they were never truly together, she wouldn’t be shocked if they actually had a child.
Duan Jiaze looked up, the name unfamiliar to him, but that didn’t matter, since Pei Yu had already told him how he should respond to this question long ago.
He puffed his little chest out, proudly saying, "My dad is Pei Yu."
