Exotic Battlefield: I Can Activate Dual Talents
Chapter 72 - 70, finish this bowl of chicken soup, and you’ll be mine.

Chapter 72: 70, finish this bowl of chicken soup, and you’ll be mine.

Zhao Lei and his companions were stunned.

Listening to the names and positions Lu Lin recited, they all felt a sense of unreality.

There were quite a few Black Shark Society members lurking within the Federation. Not only were there operatives like the artist, who employed ’Thunderbolt Means,’ but there were also others dedicated to accumulating wealth, gathering information, and expanding membership. On the surface, these people were all law-abiding citizens of the Federation. Some were even CEOs or founders of large companies or important members of certain associations. Secretly, however, they provided various kinds of support and assistance to the Black Shark Society.

What was frightening about the Black Shark Society wasn’t how powerful its martial strength was, although strength was one aspect. But ever since humans discovered the Exotic Battlefield, consider every battle fought. Against every exotic beast, against every One Clan—which one wasn’t terrifying and fraught with crisis? Yet, the Human Federation could still withstand them and emerge victorious.

Power wasn’t the ultimate standard for measuring a faction. The terrifying and insidious aspect of the Black Shark Society lay in its secrecy. The legendary, unseen God of Black Shark was like a Super Quantum Computer, able to process and analyze countless pieces of intelligence, resolve and judge countless events, and hide and conceal countless crimes. That was how the Black Shark Society had established its fearsome and notorious reputation.

"Lu, Lu Lin, could you please pause for a moment?" Even the seasoned Zhao Lei, who had weathered countless storms, found it overwhelming and asked Lu Lin to stop.

"Is everything you’re saying true?"

"Of course."

"Boss, I’ve never seen these people, and I haven’t even heard of most of them. How could I just make things up about them?"

"It was all ’told’ to me by the artist."

Lu Lin spoke calmly. He didn’t yet know that this intelligence was equivalent to three years, or even more, of work by a 300-member intelligence processing organization in the Star Investigation Office. Since the establishment of the Star Investigation Office, no one had ever obtained so much Black Shark Society member intelligence at once, as Lu Lin had.

"Alright."

"Xiao Li, stay here and work with Lu Lin to record the list. I will contact headquarters."

Zhao Lei acted decisively, leaving Xiao Li behind and departing quickly with Xiao Yan. He flew out of the hospital building, soaring straight above the cloud layer to contact the Star Investigation Office Headquarters.

「On Alien.」

The Star Investigation Office Headquarters attached great importance to Zhao Lei’s communication and immediately began screening and analyzing the list of personnel he provided. Within just twenty minutes, detailed analysis reports for each person on the list were rapidly produced. The Level 9 Star Core Warrior stationed at the Star Investigation Office Headquarters reviewed the reports and determined the intelligence to be authentic. On one hand, they reported to the Titled Kings in the Exotic Battlefield. On the other, they mobilized the highest authority to contact Star Investigation Office advisors scattered throughout the Federation. These advisors would cooperate with local authorities on various planets to arrest the target personnel.

「In the hospital.」

Lu Lin continued to recite the names of the people ’told’ to him by the artist. Xiao Li’s expression was cold, and Xiao Yan also put on a serious and solemn face. At that moment, they had established a miniature intelligence center right there in the hospital room, directly connected to the Intelligence Department at the Alien headquarters. Upon receiving the intelligence Lu Lin provided, the other side quickly analyzed, researched, and reported it. The Star Investigation Office Headquarters continuously issued orders.

The list included Federation managers on various planets, such as City Guards in various cities. It also included unemployed drifters who, on the surface, appeared unambitious and dependent on their parents, but were secretly evil agents of the Black Shark Society. The entire Federation was in turmoil due to the intelligence Lu Lin had provided. Countless people were taken away for questioning and investigation, while many more could be directly judged and sent to the Star Investigation Office Headquarters on Alien.

"Oh my goodness, when is this going to end?" Meng Yu muttered discontentedly outside the hospital room. "The chicken soup I made for my son is getting cold."

Lu Ping, beside her, remained silent, moodily puffing on his electronic cigarette.

"Old Lu, say something," Meng Yu urged. "Our son hasn’t eaten all day, and that Mr. Zhao still won’t let him out, saying it involves important matters related to the Federation’s safety." He’s just a high school graduate, hasn’t even started university yet, and he’s already involved in the Federation’s security? Meng Yu looked unconvinced.

"Alright, you, quiet down a bit. You’re giving me a headache," Lu Ping said. But under Meng Yu’s wide-eyed stare, he still chose to back down. Now, he was just an ordinary middle-aged man, ranked third in the family hierarchy.

The door to the ward pushed open.

Zhao Lei walked out, looking embarrassed. "Lu Lin’s mother, I’m so sorry. I got a bit carried away and forgot that Lu Lin hasn’t eaten yet." He had left Lu Lin’s parents outside the ward and instead had a recently awakened patient working for the Star Investigation Office. "You can’t go in just yet. How about this, I’ll take the chicken soup in for Lu Lin, is that alright?"

Zhao Lei had overheard Meng Yu’s words from inside and felt rather sheepish. Seeing Lu Lin’s mother, he knew he had to be considerate of her feelings.

"Oh, it’s fine, it’s fine. We all work for the Federation; it’s all important," Meng Yu managed a smile. "Mr. Zhao, let Lu Lin focus on his work. Don’t let him worry about us." Meng Yu, knowing her son was about to attend Iron Blood University, thought it wise to curry favor with the Dean. "If he finishes this chicken soup, call me, and I’ll go back and make more. Oh, you all haven’t eaten either, have you? I can make something for you when I go back."

To Lu Lin’s parents, Zhao Lei’s current identity was the Dean of the Iron Blood College Fight Academy.

"No need, I’ve already ordered a meal from the Junsheng Hotel. You can join us later," Zhao Lei said. "I’ll go in first. By the way, Lu Lin has fully recovered, so you can rest assured."

Fearing Meng Yu would say more, Zhao Lei quickly added these reassurances and hurried back into the ward. He handed the chicken soup to Lu Lin. "Xiao Lu, have some chicken soup first. Your mother stewed it all morning."

"Okay, thank you, Boss." Lu Lin took the chicken soup, opened the lid, and a rich aroma wafted out.

"Wow, that smells amazing!" Xiao Yan exclaimed, looking pitiful. "Lu Lin, can I have a sip too, please?"

Lu Lin nodded and poured a bowl of chicken soup for Xiao Yan, adding a chicken leg. This was a rare delicacy. Saturn was suitable for growing crops but less so for raising livestock. Meng Yu had bought this chicken for more than five hundred at the market that morning; it was a fresh old hen, very nourishing.

"Drink my chicken soup, and you become mine," Lu Lin said suddenly, watching Xiao Yan gulp it down.

Xiao Yan nearly spat the soup she was drinking back at him. "Lu Lin, you..."

Zhao Lei chuckled. In his team, Xiao Li was usually quiet, while Xiao Yan was more vivacious. Now, with Lu Lin’s arrival, this was the second time Zhao Lei had seen Xiao Yan flustered. The first time was when Lu Lin had taken the room card; Zhao Lei, with his excellent hearing, naturally knew what had transpired then. It seemed the team was in for some fun.

"Boss, you’re bullying me too," Xiao Yan pouted.

"No, no, I’m not," Zhao Lei said without any airs, his face perpetually cheerful. "Xiao Yan, although you’re a bit older than Lu Lin, it’s well within an acceptable range. After all, you’re not even thirty yet. Lu Lin, I’m rooting for you. Win Xiao Yan over and make her your wife."

Xiao Yan glared at Zhao Lei, but her eyes couldn’t help darting towards Lu Lin, curious about his reaction.

"Hehe, no need for all that trouble," Lu Lin said. "Sister Xiao Yan, don’t go back tonight. I’m all alone in this hospital room, so lonely and cold. Please, be kind and keep me company."

Xiao Yan was stunned. Lu Lin, you’re too direct!

"PFFT." Even the usually stoic Xiao Li couldn’t hold back a laugh.
