Chapter 23: Chapter 23: Leopard!

The Second Princess frowned, "But where is the wild fruit tree?"

Li Yuzhu pointed to the dense forest in the south and said, "Let’s head south and look over there, see if there are any mushrooms or bamboo shoots."

The Second Princess looked puzzled, "Third Sister, why are we heading south?"

Li Yuzhu said, "It’s just the start of spring, the north slope is still very cold, the grass there has only just begun to sprout, while the south slope faces the sun, most of the trees have grown leaves and the grass is thicker. If we’re lucky, we might catch some wild chicken in the grass."

"Oh..." the Second Princess said understandingly, "By the way, Third Sister, is wild chicken meat tasty?"

She was really hungry.

"Pluck the feathers, clean it, add salt, and roast it over a fire, it’s quite delicious," Li Yuzhu said with a smile.

"But we don’t have any salt," the Second Princess sighed.

Wild chicken without salt wouldn’t be very tasty, would it?

"I have a little salt," Li Yuzhu took out a small paper packet from her bosom.

The Second Princess was surprised, "Where did you get the salt?"

"Borrowed it from Granny Qin’s house," Li Yuzhu replied.

People can go a little hungry, but salt and water cannot be missed for a day, so she borrowed some salt, and she would return it when she had money in the future.

The Second Princess was pleased, "It’s great to have salt, meat is inedible without it."

Second Young Master Li and Li Xing’an both gave Li Yuzhu a thumbs up, "Third Sister, you’re really considerate, more resourceful than your brothers."

The Princely Heir looked at Li Yuzhu, surprised, "Third Sister, how do you know so much? I never saw you study at the Prince Mansion."

She actually knew to ask for a little salt back.

Getting smarter is a thing that needs to be explained, and Li Yuzhu had already thought of a story to tell, "I wasn’t dull originally, the nannies around me taught me a lot. You just didn’t notice, I learned everything secretly. Besides, with the elder brothers and sisters being so outstanding, why would I need to show off? It’s not my turn."

Everyone liked hearing this.

Second Young Master and Li Xing’an laughed heartily, "So you were being lazy before."

Li Yuzhu sighed, "Yes, I was being lazy before because I am the youngest, I didn’t need to take the lead in anything. But now that the family is like this, if I stay lazy, I’ll starve."

As they spoke, the siblings already walked into a dense patch of grass.

Suddenly, the Second Princess said tremblingly, "What... what is that?"

"Where?" Li Xing’an got interested.

"Over there..." the Second Princess pointed into the grass.

Li Yuzhu gently squeezed over to look, it was actually a wild chicken.

"Wild chicken!" Li Xing’an yelled happily, rolled up his sleeves and went to catch it.

But the wild chicken was very clever, squawked once, and flew away.

It vanished into the grass, disappearing without a trace.

Li Xing’an was dumbfounded, "It just flew off? Frustrating!"

"Old Third, can’t you move more gently?" Second Young Master complained.

Li Xing’an sighed, "I was moving gently."

"Ah... what... what is that again?" the Second Princess said tremblingly again.

Li Xing’an was impatient, "Another wild chicken, right? Might as well not bother if we can’t catch it, wish we had bows and arrows."

"No... it’s not, it’s a... big... big..." the Second Princess stuttered, unable to finish her sentence.

"What’s got you so scared?" Li Xing’an mocked.

"It’s a leopard! Everyone be careful!" the Princely Heir said in a low voice.
