Chapter 684 - 684 682 Ancient Dragon of Freedom
Chapter 684: Chapter 682 Ancient Dragon of Freedom Chapter 684: Chapter 682 Ancient Dragon of Freedom “This is… Fairy Saiban’s voice!”
Russell exclaimed in surprise. Ever since the fairies had entered the Amber Dreamscape and merged with it, they had not returned to the Dragon Sleep Continent.
He never expected to hear Fairy Saiban’s voice here.
He quickly realized that Saiban’s voice was emanating from the woods at the base of the northern foothills of the Starlight Volcano. So he bid farewell to the Starlight Refugees and rode Unicorn Polly, flying straight into this diverse forest.
“Saiban, where are you?”
“I am everywhere, Russell. It was the voice of the Starlight Refugees that let me hear the call of free will,” said Saiban’s voice, cheerful and clear. “That call allowed me to cross the barriers of time and space and return here.”
“So now, how do you exist?” Russell looked around the entire forest, unable to find any trace of Saiban.
“I don’t know; perhaps I am a breeze, maybe the will of freedom, or perhaps just a fleeting thought of the Starlight Refugees that distracted me here.” Saiban was unclear about its state, but it understood that its return to the Dragon Sleep Continent was not so simple.
It whirled around Russell’s ear like the wind: “I need your help, Russell. I come from freedom and seek to exist beyond freedom.”
“I don’t understand; simplify it,” Russell responded.
“Rules… For freedom, I became one with the Amber Dreamscape, and now, I desire to transcend freedom. The will gifted to me by the Snow Forest and the body by the Amber Dreamscape are not free enough!”
“Noble self-sacrifice?” The thought suddenly flashed through Russell’s mind.
But he quickly grasped something else, “Rules… transcendence… Saiban, could it be that you’ve touched upon new rules, or rather, you now embody a new rule?”
“I don’t know, but it seems that fragments of something are flowing within my body and will… that is… freedom, collective existence, luck… I don’t know, maybe they are, maybe they aren’t. I need your help!”
“Freedom, collective existence, luck!” Russell was so shocked he opened his mouth wide and roared in his mind, “Polly, did you hear that!”
“I did.”
“Freedom, collective existence, luck, these are rules, they must be rules!” Russell wiped the inexplicable sweat from his forehead, “Ice Cream’s rules are dreams, hope, and future. Young Lord Darimu’s rules are vengeance, loss, and corruption!”
At that moment, Russell realized what the future might hold for Saiban, or rather what kind of existence this group of fairies might be.
They were not independent entities but represented a certain rule.
And the embodiment of that rule was the Ancient Dragon, meaning that the collective of these fairies could potentially give birth to an Ancient Dragon, following the Dreamscape Ancient Dragon and the Revenge Ancient Dragon…
The Ancient Dragon of Freedom!
The thought was insane, but Russell firmly believed it, “Dragons are the embodiment of elements, tangible and with mass; Ancient Dragons are the embodiment of rules, whose physical shells can no longer contain them, which is why their existence is an enigma.”
The Dreamscape Ancient Dragon was a seed of the cosmic tree, a nascent world called Amber Dreamland.
The Revenge Ancient Dragon, on the other hand, was a fusion of the Lost Dragon with Sigruft, and all the Knights of Vengeance throughout the ages, including the current one, Young Lord Darimu. Together, they formed a complete Revenge Ancient Dragon.
Therefore.
The Ancient Dragon of Freedom, a collective of fairies, was also comprehensible.
“I will help you, Saiban!” Russell responded loudly, “And I already have an idea: since you heard the call of the Starlight Refugees, it shows that when the people in despair start to regather hope, they can summon you!”
The Starlight Duchy was just one of eleven annihilated Duchies.
In the battles of the Snow Soul Sacrifice, including the Mountain Fire Duchy that Russell supported, all suffered heavy casualties. The work of relocating refugees was being carried out, but the trade routes across the Snowfield were too cold, and many refugees still refused to relocate.
Prepared to stay put and await death.
“I will instill hope in the survivors from all the countries, so that they will call upon your name, Fairy Saiban.”
“It’s Saiban Nia.”
“Alright, Saiban.”
In the days that followed, Russell traveled to all of the fallen Grand Duchies. The survivors there were, in theory, people abandoned by the Amber Council, so there was no need to voluntarily assist them in rebuilding their lives.
But Russell brought with him numerous resources, helping these survivors reestablish order, continuing to farm around the cooling, dying volcanoes.
He told them to hold hope for life, emphasizing that if they lost hope, no one could save them.
“In the name of Russell Amber Dream, I solemnly tell you that as long as you hold hope in your hearts, you will surely survive.” To inspire them, he often gave speeches, “You will not be abandoned, never!”
Under Russell’s guidance,
The survivors from all the nations ended their chaotic end-of-days existence and restored a new order, starting anew with farming, holding on to hope.
Even when Russell left, a group of Knights stayed behind to continue supporting this group of survivors, helping them to live on their own.
And so,
In the Molten Fire Duchy, Russell heard Saiban’s voice; in the Ice Ridge Duchy, Russell heard Saiban’s voice; and in the Loess Grand Duchy, Russell also heard Saiban’s voice.
Wherever the survivors raised hope, there Saiban existed.
For more than half a year, Russell traversed between the cooling volcanoes, aiding the revival of the survivors, and helping Saiban continually grasp the rules, tirelessly striving toward the goal of becoming an Ancient Dragon of Freedom.
In the blink of an eye, the Warm Season passed and the Dragon Sleep Continent entered another icy period.
Cracking of the land worsened, and the Dragon Sleep Continent developed twelve massive fissures along with countless smaller ones.
The largest of these fissures was near the Mountain Fire Duchy, with a width of over a hundred kilometers. Flying into the depths of the fissure, it was almost impossible to reach the end, even after days and nights of flying.
And like the Gang Wind Layer in the sky,
Deep within the fissure, there was a Black Maelstrom Ocean, a turbulent convergence of Magic Power. Even if a Dragon Knight fell in, they would be eroded by the Black Maelstrom Ocean, suffering heavy damage within moments, and if they lingered longer, they would never return.
“This is equivalent to the Shattered Sea beneath the Frost Star, under which lies the planet’s Origin Power.” From the information Russell gathered through Tepp from the Giant Trolls, he knew what the Black Maelstrom Ocean was, “Frost Star chose to blast open the Shattered Sea to mine the Origin Power.”
To this day,
That Eternal Frost Star was hiding under the Frost Star’s Shattered Sea, waiting for the day it could see the light again.
“The Black Maelstrom Ocean has been exposed, and Frost Star will sooner or later make a big move. You must keep a close watch. At the first sign of activity, report to me.” Russell stressed at the Amber Council meeting; as for himself, he had more important work to do.
He was to bring a third Ancient Dragon to the Dragon Sleep Continent.
“Saiban, are you up to this?” Russell watched as the survivors from eleven Grand Duchies had successfully called forth Saiban.
Yet Saiban had still not evolved, and Russell couldn’t help feeling impatient.
“Soon, I feel it’s very soon. Free will is now inseparable from me; I just need the opportunity to transform into the rules!” Saiban replied, stirring up a gust of wind that rolled leaves toward a certain direction.
Whispering, “There, the last collection of free will has not yet merged into the Amber Dreamland, not yet merged into me!”
“There?” Russell followed the direction pointed by the leaves, raising an eyebrow, “It’s in the direction of Blizzard Volcano, huh, seems like it’s time for me to visit Blizzard Dragon again!”
