Chapter 620 - 620 618 Hape and Shuang Da
Chapter 620: Chapter 618 Hape and Shuang Da Chapter 620: Chapter 618 Hape and Shuang Da “No, I won’t,” said Russell softly.
Sullivan looked up, slightly surprised, and did not understand where Russell’s confidence came from.
Russell did not care to explain further and just stated calmly, “Once Frost Star arrives, it won’t be leaving. Even the Frost Titans can’t stop it—I said so.”
However, over the past few years, the glory Russell had brought had already shone into the hearts of every person in the Shadowflame Duchy, including Sullivan. Hearing what Russell said, he immediately believed that the frost giants were nothing to be feared.
“Continue to observe Frost Star. All national observatories must collaborate to lock onto its trajectory as soon as possible and predict Frost Star’s next move.”
“Yes, Your Highness.”
After leaving the national observatory, he quickly teleported back to Cigar Manor.
The harpy Hape was not in the oak forest; she was still in Greentown Snow Forest and hadn’t come back. It was still early and Russell couldn’t sleep, so he simply flew to Greentown Snow Forest as well, to the campsite cabin, to accompany Hape in search of an opportunity for evolution.
“Gu’er.” In the night, the owl-like dragons occasionally made a call or two, hunting in the darkness.
There were many rats here.
Because Russell often sent people to release rats to provide a rich source of food and grow the population, hoping to cultivate another Pseudo-Harpy Dragon. The same was done in Qinqiu Province where a group of owl-like dragons were being raised.
Besides, at Cloud Dream Ranch, there was already a large herd of like-White Horse Dragons, along with a few Black Horse-like Dragons.
As the name implied, the Black Horse-like Dragons were phantom beast pseudo-dragon successors infected by the Nightmare Beast Sonbra.
But so far, only primordial beast kind pseudo-dragon successors had appeared in the territory, and not a single phantom beast pseudo-dragon successor, resulting in Baron Roman’s fourth phantom beast contract slot remaining empty, as he was hesitant to initiate the fourth turn.
“Gu’er.” Hape also let out a meaningless call.
Ever since it started its outdoor training, its schedule gradually returned to being nocturnal, returning to its most primitive cycle of rest and activity.
Inside the cabin.
Russell yawned, “Hape, you’re busy; I’m off to sleep.”
“Mm, go to sleep,” Hape replied. It didn’t really need Russell’s company. After all, if Russell came over, he could only sit idly by—Russell couldn’t help it with anything. All the epiphanies, all the contemplation, had to be done alone.
That night, Russell slept soundly.
Even in the midst of the snowfields, he could sleep peacefully, not to mention Hape was guarding outside. Above his forehead, Sacred Unicorn Polly and Nightmare Beast Senbula were always alert—as marks, the pseudo-dragon and phantom dragon needed no sleep.
“Good morning, Hape,” Russell greeted after waking up.
“Gu’er,” Hape responded softly.
“You keep busy, I’m heading back, and I’ll come over to accompany you tonight,” said Russell, waving his hand, and in the next second, he appeared in Cigar Manor.
After breakfast, his figure flashed again, and he reappeared at Red Castle.
“Alright, I don’t need to go out for a while, Sonbra, you can get some air,” Russell said.
The purple lightning mark on his forehead immediately flew out, transforming into the Nightmare Beast Sonbra, which nodded slightly at Russell and then flew off, trotting on air and circling around Red Castle.
It was different from Polly, who could merge with Russell for 24 hours straight, observing the world through his eyes. Sonbra couldn’t do that; it needed to rest. Being in mark form for extended periods could make it depressed.
Day after day.
Before long, it was mid-April. The number of human states joining the Thunder Voice Conference had increased, spreading to the Ancient Dragon Ridge Mountains. Ancient Thornland, Ancient Magma Lands, Ancient Northern Snow Plains, along with the Ancient Dragon Ridge Mountains—twenty-six human nations were now sharing information through Thunder Voice.
However, merely sharing information was clearly not enough to counter the invasion of the Twin Snow Giants’ Army; on the contrary, it increased the fear among the states.
With the Frost Star drawing closer, more and more frost trolls and snow trolls gathered.
After destroying five Grand Duchies in the known areas, and that was just the five Grand Duchies of Dragon Sleep Continent’s eight territories. The news from Ancient Tundra, Ancient Dark Forest, Ancient Whispering Forest, and the Ancient Southern Wasteland Desert had yet to be heard.
Fortunately, with the rise of the Shadowflame Duchy as an example, it strengthened the confidence of other nations.
The Thunder Voice Conference went on continuously from morning till night. Scholars from various nations were learning from Shadowflame Duchy’s experience, attempting to push toward industrialization. This was well demonstrated in Scorching Torrent Kingdom, as they too had found a newborn bipedal flying dragon.
“Industrialization has indeed bolstered the power of the Fiery Dragon,” King Ares shared at the Thunder Voice Conference. “There is no doubt about that.”
“Clearly, compared to the Tri-Dragon Sacrifice Method and the path of the Phantom Dragon Knight, the industrialization plan is practically feasible!”
The kings and grand dukes of various countries were heartened by this.
“If it weren’t for the distance being far too great, and the snowfield being too dangerous at this time, I would assuredly make the journey to the Shadowflame Grand Duchy myself to witness the Industrial Age that Grand Duke Russell has inaugurated!” One reassured grand duke exclaimed amid the thunderous discussions.
There were also grand dukes who were anxious: “I wonder if we can wait for industrialization to take effect. Outside our borders, Frost Snow Giants are looming menacingly!”
Five grand duchies had fallen in succession.
Without the protection of dragon knights, every grand duchy felt imperiled.
“Then let us resolutely push forward with industrialization, to enhance the strength of dragons, even if it’s just a little,” said Russell during the Thunder Voice Conference. “Even without a bond with the Shadowflame Dragon, I still repelled Shuang Da’s invasion!”
“Grand Duke Russell, you are a Phantom Dragon Knight, the strongest knight in our country. I am merely a Flying Dragon Knight and haven’t even been promoted to a Dragon Domain Lord.”
“I have summarized a set of practice experiences for the Dragon Domain Lord and Phantom Dragon Knight and will disseminate it. With time, someone will catch the opportunity. Even the promotion of just one Dragon Domain Lord would slightly boost the strength of dragons. If we promote a Phantom Dragon Knight, in alliance with a dragon, he could sufficiently protect the Volcanic Oasis.”
“I hope so, but alas, the Way of the Knight seems even more arduous than industrialization.”
“Enough, gentlemen, let’s not complain at the Thunder Voice Conference and use up resources. Let’s leave the thunderous resources for use at the Thunderous Industrial Conference,” King Debuloye spoke up, quite displeased with the kings and grand dukes who idly chatted and farted around day after day at the Thunder Voice Conference.
Soon, the Thunder Voice Conference quieted down.
Meanwhile, another channel, the Thunderous Industrial Conference, continued to vibrate vigorously, as countless messages were briskly transmitted amid the thunder.
…
At night, as usual, Russell went to rest in the Greentown Snow Forest.
He had promised to accompany Hape in search of an opportunity for advancement. Even if he couldn’t help, he had to show his presence so Hape would know it wasn’t fighting alone, like an owl in battle.
“Gu’Er.”
“Hmm?”
“You sleep first, Russell. I’m going to wander around the snowfield for a bit, get some fresh air,” Hape’s voice conveyed through their mental link.
“Be careful.”
“I grew up on the snowfield; no one can hurt me.” Hape was full of confidence; it wasn’t a phantom beast born in the Warm Enclave but one that had lived and roamed in the icy and snowy wilderness since its birth.
Soaring out of the Greentown Snow Forest, Hape flew into the vast, limitless snowfield.
At night, the starry sky was bright, and the dazzling stars composed the vastness of the universe. However, Hape felt nothing of that sort. It just flew through the air, then sought out Snow Ghosts and Snow Demons, descending to engage in combat upon finding them.
All the frustration of not finding an opportunity for advancement was vented on these creatures from other worlds.
Suddenly, while unleashing furious winds and tearing apart a Snow Demon, Hape turned its head to the south. Guided by starlight, it saw a massive figure trekking. “It’s Shuang Da!” Hape’s eyes sharpened instantly, recognizing Shuang Da’s broken fang and the missing middle finger, “It has grown even larger, sixty meters. After being gravely injured by Russell, it has managed to become stronger?”
Seeing no Snow Giants following behind Shuang Da, Hape understood: “It must have absorbed that half of a Snow Giant!”
Shuang Da seemed somewhat distracted, plodding ahead with its head down.
It hadn’t noticed Hape nearby, who was engaged in slaughtering the Snow Demon, or perhaps it had noticed and simply disregarded it.
As Shuang Da was about to depart into the distance, Hape lightly flapped its wings. In that moment, it suddenly felt a surge of ferocity.
Hape closed and opened its eyes.
It was as though a divine light erupted from them, and then it forcefully flapped its wings, shooting towards Shuang Da. It was choosing to fight for its life.
Without having ever undergone a true Life and Death Dragon Tribulation, Hape decided that tonight would make up for it.
