Chapter 473 - 473 472 Tri-Dragon Sacrifice Method
Chapter 473: Chapter 472 Tri-Dragon Sacrifice Method Chapter 473: Chapter 472 Tri-Dragon Sacrifice Method The direct distance between the Grand Duchy of Shadowflame and the Scorching Torrent Kingdom isn’t very far, just about one to two thousand kilometers.
However, the terrain over the Snowfield is complicated and rugged with several mountain ranges abruptly rising from the ground, directly cutting off the path and forcing merchant caravans to take long detours. This results in trade exchanges between the two nations only being able to occur two or three times a year.
Flying also has its obstacles.
The fierce winds in the sky are far more tempestuous than those on the ground. Facing severe storms, even dragons have to retreat significantly and fly close to the ground to avoid them.
“The Dragon Sleep Continent is made up of eight ancient lands.”
Russell was admiring the mountain ranges below when suddenly the voice of King Ares resounded by his ear, as clear as if King Ares were speaking right beside him.
But in reality, the two men were far apart.
This was undoubtedly a unique skill of Dragon Knights; to Russell, it seemed like the Whispering Wind from martial arts novels.
He couldn’t do it, so he could only passively listen to King Ares saying, “They are the Northern Ice Fields, Tundra Lands, Jing Ji Lands, Dark Mist Forest, Dragonspine Mountains, Magma Lands, Whispering Forest, and Southern Desolate Desert.”
This information was not recorded in books.
Or rather, many books in the Grand Duchy of Shadowflame didn’t contain this information.
King Ares continued, “The region we are in is Ancient Jing Ji Lands, which contains ten human nations. Our two countries are at the very southern end of the Ancient Jing Ji Lands; further south, and it’s the Ancient Magma Lands.”
He paused.
King Ares said, “The Ancient Magma Lands are more barren than the Ancient Jing Ji Lands, but there lies the Pyro Lykin Kingdom, which I visited once. Redfire, Lustre Star, and Russet Gold, each of these three giant dragons has a knight, representing the pinnacle of humanity.”
Russell looked at the back of the Fiery Dragon.
He didn’t quite understand why King Ares was telling him all this, even wondering if it might be due to the boredom of the journey.
But soon.
King Ares disclosed something that astonished Russell, “Young man, do you know that the Pyro Lykin Kingdom is seeking to promote the Redfire Giant Dragon? They are fully supporting the Redfire Giant Dragon to achieve its hope of returning to ancient times.”
“Ah?” Russell exclaimed.
His expression of astonishment was quickly swept away by the fierce winds.
But King Ares seemed to have anticipated his surprise and continued, “Don’t be surprised, all dragons wish to return to ancient times, and the older the dragon, the stronger their hope becomes.”
Russell really wanted to ask, what exactly it meant to return to ancient times.
But he didn’t know how to Whispering Wind.
So, he could only continue listening to King Ares saying, “The King of the Pyro Lykin Kingdom, Debuloye Firelight, is learned and wise. He discovered a method from the ruins of the Holy Glint Empire, called the Tri-Dragon Sacrifice Method.”
All three giant dragons possess the hope of returning to ancient times.
But if two of these dragons are willing to sacrifice their own hopes to fully support the other dragon, then that dragon has a great chance of returning to ancient times.
“Quite interesting, isn’t it… but it’s worth trying,” said King Ares, his calm voice containing a hint of zeal, “The Frost Giant has already appeared; can the Frost Titans be far behind? We humans must respond, and returning the dragons to ancient times is the best way to deal with this.”
He then said, “Russell, you are the most promising young man in the Grand Duchy of Shadowflame, and I have great confidence in you!”
Russell was already frowning.
King Ares, like a devil skillfully tempting, continued, “We must unite closely to face the dreadful crisis of the Frost Titans’ arrival. Russell, for the great cause of humanity to overcome Snow Demons, someone must step forward.”
By then, Russell didn’t know what expression to make.
In his previous life as a corporate slave, he was overly sensitive to workplace manipulation; he had been enticed by too many attractive promises from leaders and ended up with countless fruits of ‘996’ labor.
And now, as if in a daze, another pie was being slapped across his face.
“Shadowflame has suffered consecutive severe damages; theoretically, it has no hope of returning to the past. Torrent is too feeble and lacks the potential to travel back. Now, only the Fiery Dragon holds a glimmer of hope for attempting to return to ancient times. Do you understand?”
He paused.
King Ares sighed, “The Tri-Dragon Sacrifice Method is perilous and unpredictable. As a predecessor, I and Scorching must take the risk. However, should we fail, Russell, I hope that, as a standout of the younger generation, you will continue to strive!”
The Fiery Dragon slowed down a bit.
The head of the dragon was level with Black Oil Dragon Ross, from atop his throne in the Ares Kingdom, facing Russell with a smile.
But he didn’t know that, framed by swirling black smoke, this smile appeared particularly sinister through Russell’s eyes.
“If I fail, hope will fall on you young ones. By then, I will devote all the resources of the kingdom to supporting your ascent… In any case, once the Frost Giant arrives, we humans must have someone to resist it!”
“In the Pyro Lykin Kingdom, this responsibility unquestionably falls on Debuloye Firelight, here, I, Ares Sundazzle, bear it unescapably! Should I, Ares, fail, you, Russell Fluorescent Fungus, will bear it just as unescapably!”
Russell turned his head with difficulty towards the Ares Kingdom.
Not knowing how to respond, he awkwardly squeezed out a smile which the fierce wind plastered across his face, making it hard to even keep his eyes open.
But to the Ares Kingdom, this demeanor looked more like the excitement of a young man’s blood boiling.
“Compose yourself, Russell, this is the mission our era bestows upon us, this is the heavy expectation humanity places on us,” King Ares waved his hand and the Fiery Dragon immediately sped forward, the Whispering Wind gradually faded, “Think about it well, I expect you to take up this responsibility!”
A session of Whispering Wind.
It left Russell somewhat bewildered.
“King Ares can’t seriously think I will become a Shadowflame Dragon Knight,” Russell said to himself.
Polly responded, “Perhaps he does, nobody knows about Ice Cream, so they can only speculate about your… hehe, unspeakable relations with the Shadowflame Dragon.”
Russell glanced at the Shadowflame Dragon.
The Shadowflame Dragon was flying diligently, seemingly unaware that King Ares had just tried to seduce Russell with his words.
Of course.
If it had known, it wouldn’t mind, because the truth was not what King Ares thought; no matter how much brainwashing Russell went through, it couldn’t shake the will of the Shadowflame Dragon—they were simply not in a knight and dragon relationship.
“But Polly, do you think this Tri-Dragon Sacrifice Method can really allow dragons to return to ancient times?”
“I don’t know.”
So far, dragons were simply dragons, except in some fabricated epics like “Song of the Volcano,” all dragons on the Dragon Sleep Continent were elemental embodiments birthed by the earth.
Thus the hope of returning to ancient times was also unknown to the dragons themselves; its meaning was unclear.
From their birth, they had harbored this hope, and then hoped that one day they could realize it.
Many dragons, for this hope, ventured deep into the Snowfield, never to be heard from again.
The volcanoes that birthed the dragons also cooled.
“Although King Ares was just painting me a rosy picture, some of his words made sense. Once the Frost Giant emerges, ordinary Elemental Giant Dragons simply cannot resist… Maybe returning to ancient times is our only hope.”
Russell looked up at the sky; the sky was gloomy, the wind and snow howling.
At that moment, his left palm suddenly warmed, and he lifted his hand to see the M-shaped mark slowly burning.
This roused Russell’s spirits, “Right, I still have Ice Cream. Even if it’s the end of the world, Ice Cream and I will face it together!”
