Chapter 363 - 363 362 No Escape with Just a Hand Covering
Chapter 363: Chapter 362: No Escape with Just a Hand Covering the Sky Chapter 363: Chapter 362: No Escape with Just a Hand Covering the Sky Traveling eastward from the Blackflame Plains, Russell had flown more than fifty kilometers, spotting quite a number of Snow Ghosts along the way.
Perhaps due to eating too many Ice Pellets before being born, Black Oil Dragon Ros didn’t seem overly enthusiastic about hunting Snow Ghosts. As long as the Snow Ghosts didn’t encroach on the Blackflame Plains, Ross would be too lazy to hunt them on the snowfields.
Unlike Ros the Clay Dragon, who could be called a natural enemy of the Snow Ghosts, he would stroll around the snowy areas near the Glowing Valley every day to hunt them.
It can only be said that humans have thousands of personalities, and dragons have different ones as well.
“Sword Control Technique!”
Russell softly chided and immediately threw out the Green Ceramic Sword, guiding it forward with the Fighting Spirit Sword Control while he rode on Unicorn Polly, stepping onto the Green Ceramic Sword and advancing rapidly with its speed.
However, after flying only a few hundred meters, he detached from the Green Ceramic Sword and the speed plummeted back to normal flying speed.
“It’s still not working, Russell,” Polly sighed in their minds.
They were working on an advanced version of the Wind Walking Skill — the Sword Control Technique, but developing magic was no easy feat. Currently, the Sword Control Technique was not only crude but also heavily flawed, succeeding only once in about ten tries.
But as long as there was one success, it indicated that the direction of the Sword Control Technique was correct. Russell encouraged her, “Don’t be discouraged, Polly. We already successfully flew several hundred meters just now. With patience in development, we will eventually fly continuously!”
He paused and then laughed, “And did you notice? The speed of the Sword Control Technique nearly reached a thousand kilometers an hour!”
This was a magic of tremendous potential.
Once developed successfully, Russell could reach any location within the Shadowflame Grand Duchy in half a day just by using the Sword Control Technique.
The Shadowflame Dragon, at full strength, could only match this speed.
As far as Russell knew, presently, no recorded Phantom Beast or dragon could surpass the speed of sound. Hence, once the Sword Control Technique was successful, Russell’s speed would be among the fastest in the world.
“Indeed, even Hape couldn’t keep up,” Polly echoed in his mind.
Hape leisurely flew in the sky, its speed not slow either, reaching over six hundred kilometers per hour at full speed, which was already faster than that of the Bipedal Flying Dragon.
But Polly quickly added, “Knight Commander Kendall’s Aurora Falcon can also fly at a speed of over a thousand kilometers per hour.”
“Although Knight Commander Kendall’s Aurora Falcon can reach a thousand kilometers per hour, after using the Beast Fusion Shadow, its speed is halved to just over five hundred kilometers per hour, almost similar to Ros’s speed,” Russell said.
“But when we both use the Sword Control Technique, we don’t have to cut our speed in half; we can maintain a speed of a thousand kilometers per hour!”
“That’s true too,” Polly replied.
“Alright, let’s continue and strive harder!” Russell immersed himself fully in their training.
When Polly grew tired from training, he would switch to practicing with Hape, since their mind link wasn’t strong enough yet, even the Fighting Spirit Armor was somewhat stumbling.
Out of five attempts, it succeeded perhaps twice.
However, after succeeding, the Origin Breath Armour that Hape transformed into was equally stunning and flamboyant, a set of white armor similar to Polly’s Snowy Unicorn Armor. The difference lay in the feathers that added an aesthetic layer to this Origin Breath Armor.
“Snow-colored Harpy Armor!” Russell named this set of Origin Breath Armor, “Both sets of Origin Breath Armor have roughly the same defensive effects and are similarly flamboyant… next we’ll see whether Polly or Hape’s transformed Yuan Breath Weapon is more powerful.”
Upon reaching the 2nd tier of higher Phantom Beast Knights, there are two Contracted Phantom Beasts to transform.
One can transform into Origin Breath Armor, and the other can extend a Yuan Breath Weapon from the basis of the Origin Breath Armor.
This is the combination of Fighting Spirit Armor and Dou-Qi Metamartial!
Unfortunately, his mind link with Hape was still insufficient, so he couldn’t yet use the Dou-Qi Metamartial and had to continue adjusting slowly.
“A Snow Ghost is coming, Russell. I’ll go kill it; you continue practicing with Hape.” Polly leaped into action, going to hunt the Snow Ghost. Its helical horn pierced into the body of the Snow Ghost, and the Yuan vibration could shred a Snow Ghost.
“Polly, wait a moment, let me try a spell with Hape — the Hurricane Skill!” Russell, clad in the Snow-colored Harpy Armor, hovered in mid-air.
He then connected with Hape mentally and began to enact Hape’s signature Magic – Hurricane Skill.
Flapping his hands.
In an instant, a whirlwind burst forth from both hands, forming countless wind blades that swooped down upon the group of Snow Ghosts below. The Snow Ghosts, known for their strong iron-like defenses, could not withstand the storm capable of tearing glaciers apart and were soon reduced to fragments.
Only two large green-skinned Snow Ghosts barely resisted the attack of the Hurricane Skill, crouching on the cracked ice, their mouths silently roaring.
“Use this move sparingly,” Russell clicked his tongue, “The Snow Ghosts are blown to bits, but so is the Ice Pellet Pearl.”
The sight of Russell, looking like a Holy Knight and disregarding them, provoked the massive Snow Ghost to rise and charge at Russell, heavily striking with its ice-sculpted weapon.
Then.
The ice weapon seemed to slam into a wall, unable to smash through whatsoever. This was another of Hape’s fixed Magic – the Wind Wall Skill.
Immediately after, Russell flicked his right hand, unleashing two blades of light which decapitated the massive Snow Ghost, then crushed its skull to take the superior Ice Pellet Pearl within. The entire process was easy and breezy; the once formidable Snow Ghost now seemed no more troublesome than an ant.
“I’m really strong now!” exclaimed Russell as he gently landed on the fractured ice, looking up at the sky at a forty-five-degree angle.
The sky was filled with white clouds that blocked the sunlight, making the snowfield seem even colder.
This cold, even the Dragon Breath within Russell couldn’t withstand, as he gradually felt a piercing chill.
“Huh?”
“Cold?”
“I can actually feel the cold!”
Russell suddenly startled, then leapt up, bellowing, “Polly, catch me!”
“Russell!” Polly, who was far off clearing Snow Ghosts and collecting Ice Pellet Pearls in a thrifty manner, also sensed the anomaly.
She quickly ran towards Russell.
But it was already too late.
With a booming sound.
The ice, already torn apart by the Hurricane Skill, completely shattered into fragments as a gigantic pale hand, as enormous as the Five Fingers Mountain, enveloped with an unmatched brutal aura, viciously grabbed at the leaping figure of Russell.
In the blink of an eye, Russell threw the Green Ceramic Sword, attempting to perform the Sword Control Technique by himself but failed.
The Green Ceramic Sword shot towards the sky while he failed to follow it ascending on the sword.
Relying solely on passive Magic – the Wind Walking Skill, he struggled to leap towards the sky in an attempt to dodge the immense pale hand.
But the hand was too big, too fast.
Almost instantaneously, it closed in on Russell, its massive fingers beginning to close together.
“Polly!”
“Russell!”
Unicorn Polly charged over at top speed and then, just as the enormous pale hand was about to seize Russell, launched the Magic – Ethereal Dream Escape Skill.
In that moment, Polly and Russell’s powers successfully synchronized and the powerful, mysterious effect of the magic quickly activated, preparing to whisk Polly and Russell away into the Gloomy Dreamland, their figures even beginning to blur.
But the immense strength of the pale hand twisted space, and even time, delaying the Ethereal Dream Escape Skill by a step.
A tenth of a second, maybe even only a hundredth.
The fingers of the pale hand heavily smacked Russell, a tremendous force overwhelming him. Russell felt nothing as his body began showing signs of splitting, blood not even having a chance to spurt before he was blown apart.
The Snow-colored Harpy Armor that Hape transformed into instantly crumbled, turning into a beam of white light falling from the sky, reverting to the form of the Pseudo-Harpy Dragon, unconscious.
And as Russell’s body was on the verge of splitting, a thought barely had time to flicker through his mind: “Made it!”
