Evil dragon has a warm heart -
Chapter 340 - 340 339 The Miracle of Life
Chapter 340: Chapter 339: The Miracle of Life Chapter 340: Chapter 339: The Miracle of Life Russell didn’t stay long at Fluorescent Castle.
After enjoying a lunch, he took two fantasy beasts and rode the Black Oil Dragon Ross back to Wuyao Snake Manor.
“Sir, you’ve returned!” Butler Morris, seeing Russell riding upon a massive shadowy bipedal flying dragon descending from the skies, was so excited he nearly had a heart attack, “Sir, your pose riding the dragon is really too, too… mesmerizing!”
“All right, Morris,” Russell said with a smile, “if you can’t flatter, then flatter less.”
Morris gave an embarrassed laugh.
However, Russell didn’t linger in the Cigar Courtyard but left Polly and Hape there, remounted the Black Oil Dragon Ross, and left stylishly once more.
Charles, who had just received the news and immediately rode over on horseback, could only watch the shadow of the Black Oil Dragon fly over his head.
“Sir… wait for me.”
Whoosh!
Flying high through the skies, for a bipedal flying dragon, a distance of over fifty kilometers was but a moment.
Moreover, with the expansion of the Warm Enclave, the distance to Glowing Valley had already shrunk well below fifty kilometers.
“It’s a bit too close,” muttered Russell, stroking his chin, “not convenient for future expansion… but it doesn’t matter, bipedal flying dragons aren’t just picked up at random, territorial expansion isn’t so easy… a territory like Tributary River Mouth is not common.”
Tributary River Mouth is a Warm Enclave jointly created by three bipedal flying dragons.
Only one of them, the Manganese Steel Dragon Mercedes, was found by the Rainflower Family, while the other two bipedal flying dragons were retrieved by knights sent from Red Castle – among them was the Blue Crystal Dragon Medica Loren, who was later brought back as part of Kuna Shadowflame’s dowry.
If the Rainflower Family can marry another princess in the future, it might be possible to bring back the third bipedal flying dragon as well.
Gathering his thoughts.
Russell, riding the Black Oil Dragon Ross, circled high in the sky and quickly saw the full view of his Warm Enclave.
In just a few days, the Warm Enclave had expanded quite a bit.
But to truly expand to its limits would require at least a year’s time, as Glowing Valley was originally stabilized after being washed by snowmelt for a year.
Of course.
All this information was provided by his grandmother, Lady Ingrid, and considering the artistic embellishment of the elderly, it couldn’t be entirely trusted.
And those families who found bipedal flying dragons in the snowfields, either have already completed their territorial expansion or are scrimping and keeping secrets. In any case, there are very few records about bipedal flying dragons and the formation of Warm Enclaves, and those that exist are vague.
“However, looking at it now, although the territory hasn’t expanded too much, the basic shape seems to have stabilized, it’s a… triangle,” Russell observed the Warm Enclave from above, “Hmm, the hot spring is right in the middle of the territory.”
The area of the hot spring was already completely bare, the snowmelt had receded from there, revealing the sprouting of green vegetation.
The snowmelt surrounding the territory continued to flow unabated.
Blocked at the edges of the territory, surging back and forth, finding no effective outlet.
“But just from the exposed land, my initial choice really wasn’t wrong, this is indeed a vast plain!” Aside from the hot spring area which was like a hilly highland, the surrounding lands were flat.
This also led to the snowmelt being blocked at the edges, unable to flush out.
At places like Glowing Valley, where the terrain slopes from high in the north to low in the south, snowmelt could easily create a river channel, then rush into caves and ice caps, disappearing into the unknown.
“I hope there can be a river in my territory too, to drain the melting snow and ice,” thought Russell silently.
Then he patted Ross’s neck, “Let’s go down.”
“Roar!”
The Black Oil Dragon descended rapidly, landing near the hot spring like a meteorite in a blink of an eye, stirring up a large cloud of dust and countless splashes of water.
“Sir!” Eric, Katie, and knight attendants such as Tom and Jack, who were patrolling the territory, rushed over to greet Russell when they saw him arrive.
“How is this territory, any distinctive discoveries?” Russell dismounted from his dragon and asked.
“The territory is vast, we haven’t patrolled every corner; it’s a big plain,” Eric responded in a muffled voice. “We were hoping to find black oil mineral, but so far there’s no sign of it, it might need time to form.”
“Hmm, that makes sense, I’ve asked my father about it before,” said Russell. “The clay mine of our family also took three years to form after acquiring the territory. You don’t need to keep looking; Black Oil Dragon Ross will sense it when the black oil mineral is ready.”
Naturally, the Black Oil Dragon Ross would be able to vividly feel the location of the black oil mineral, as it was a source of his power.
And now,
there was nothing beneath this land.
Next, Russell switched to a warhorse and, accompanied by Eric, Katie, and others, began strolling across the territory.
It was still the hot summer season, and thus the land of the territory dried up quickly.
This piece of land that had been ice-bound for countless years, miraculously sprouted numerous weeds and even some small saplings in such a short span of time.
It must be said that the miracles of life on Dragon Sleep Continent were far more resilient than on Earth.
After all, this was a world with extraordinary powers. If Earth had been ice-bound for millions of years, it would take another million years to recover, if at all possible.
Suddenly,
he looked down and saw an ant crawling out on a blade of grass under his feet. Following the ant’s trail, he quickly spotted an anthill.“Tsk, tsk,” Russell couldn’t help but marvel, “It’s one thing for grass to grow, but to see insects birthed as well!”
This scene overturned his common sense.
“Where did these ants come from?” Russell queried his subordinates.
Everyone shook their heads, with Eric saying in a low voice, “Sir, is it strange to have ants?”
“Is it not?” exclaimed Russell, surprised. “This Warm Enclave was only recently established, and it used to be a barren land. The emergence of vegetation is odd enough, though that might be explained away by seeds being trapped in ice. But what about insects? Can insects be ice-bound for millions of years too?”
Eric couldn’t help but look at the others.
At this point, Katie voiced her doubts, “Sir, is it strange for insects to have been ice-bound for a million years?”
“Is it not?”
“Not at all, Sir,” Katie earnestly replied. “The Snowfields can produce so many Snow Ghosts, so isn’t it normal for the Warm Enclave to nurture insects? The power of the land and the dragons’ might are protecting us.”
“Uh,” Russell found himself at a loss for words.
Eventually, he accepted Katie’s explanation, “Maybe you are right, the miracles that occur in the land of warmth surely have the power of the earth to vouch for them.”
Just as Russell’s many wonders were habitually credited to the “Great Dragon’s gaze,”
so too were the unusual happenings in the Warm Enclave simply seen as a brewing of the land’s power in everyone’s eyes.
Maybe there was a force of the land that enveloped ant eggs from a million years ago, and only now did the eggs successfully hatch.
With this in mind,
Russell felt appeased and continued leading his subordinates around the Warm Enclave. They walked until they reached the muddy land churning with snowmelt water, gazing at the vast stretch of water in front of them, and the ice chunks at its edge slowly melting and breaking apart.
“In the future, we will build our new homeland on this land!”
“Swear to follow you to death, Sir!” Katie was the first to speak.
Following her lead, Eric, Tom, and others started to beat their chests fiercely while on horseback, “Swear to follow you to death, Sir!”
Russell laughed heartily.
In the sky above, the Black Oil Dragon Ross circled and, echoing Russell’s laughter, let out successive roars of dragons.
