Chapter 327 - 327 326 Cant Be Pulled In
Chapter 327: Chapter 326 Can’t Be Pulled In Chapter 327: Chapter 326 Can’t Be Pulled In At this moment,
Russell had successfully advanced to a second turn high-ranking Mythical Beast Knight. From the sprouting of the Qi Seed to his current realm, his ascent could be considered as swift as a rocket.
Of course,
the most important factor was his heartfelt bond with Unicorn Polly, their mutual affinity allowing for a rapid completion of perfect soul synchronization.
The following synchronization with Hape might not go as smoothly, though.
Of course, Hape was highly intelligent, and perhaps, after spending more time together and fully opening up, they too could synchronize as swiftly as Polly did.
Everything was still unknown.
But at least for now, Russell, with his newfound strength, was wholly satisfied, filled with ambition and grand aspirations for life and the world.
…
The following day,
Russell, having ascended to a second turn high-ranking Mythical Beast Knight, did not widely publicize his advancement. After all, the way of life for the Fluorescent Fungi Family was to keep a low profile.
He simply had people prepare a series of supplies for setting up the camp, and after leaving Katie to watch over the home, he, accompanied by Eric and Grove, ventured deep into the vast snowfields.
Most of the items were placed on the back of Bill, the wind blade brown bear.
It must be said that although Bill was not fast, he had strong endurance, and his wide back was very suitable for carrying loads.
Two small bundles were also hung on the back of Kevin the Gold and Silver Wolfhound.
As for Unicorn Polly and Pseudo-Harpy Dragon Hape, being the contracted partners of a lord, naturally they weren’t required to do the grunt work.
“Sir, where are we going?” Grove was still completely in the dark.
Russell, taking on the role of the sphinx, answered, “You’ll know when we get there.”
A distance of over fifty kilometers wasn’t considered far for Mythical Beast Knights, so it took only a few hours to reach their destination.
Glimpsing the large pit under the ice cap and the flickering red light within, Grove’s eyes widened in shock, “Sir, that, that… what is that?”
He dared not articulate his conjecture, but he had a strong feeling that beneath lay a Bipedal Flying Dragon. On the battlefield of the Second Cometfall, he had witnessed the magma fissures under a Shadowflame Dragon.
The light that flickered from the lava fissures was just like the light from the crevasses within the large pit.
Only, the magma fissures under the Shadowflame Dragon were much more exaggerated than those under the ice cap’s large pit.
“It’s just as you’re thinking.” Russell smiled faintly, “Grove, this will be our campsite for the next few days. You and Eric will protect this place for me, this… birthplace of the Flying Dragon, our future hot spring!”
“Ah!” Grove exclaimed.
Eric, standing to the side, glanced at Grove somewhat smugly, as he had known about the Black Oil Dragon Ross’s existence for a while.
A promise had also been made by Russell to bestow him with the first lordship!
Of course, Eric wasn’t the type to express his inner feelings verbally. He simply responded with a quiet, “I shall protect Lord Ross to the death!”
“Lord Ross?” Grove, with widened eyes, looked back and forth between Russell and Eric and then at the pit.
“Inside is the Bipedal Flying Dragon Ross, whom I’ve contracted.” Russell said with a calm smile, “Soon, I will become a Flying Dragon Knight. No need for surprise, Grove, let Eric tell you the full story later. For now, let’s set up camp.”
The temperature in the large pit, dozens of meters in diameter underneath the ice cap, was in the teens.
Thus, setting up camp here would be much more comfortable than on the snowfield.
Eric and Grove set up camp while sharing the origin of the Black Oil Dragon Egg named Ross, while Russell wandered nearby.
Having just bonded with Hape, he needed to strike while the iron was hot, to get in sync with Hape.
Moreover, he needed to quickly familiarize himself with the development and utilization of Second Turn Primordial Breath. He also had to slowly master the two types of magic he gained from Hape—Wind Wall Skill and Hurricane Skill—to make them his combat trump cards.
Polly was excellent in all aspects except that her magic was supportive and couldn’t be used for bombardments in battle.
Now, Hape’s magic perfectly made up for this shortfall, with the Wind Wall Skill providing Russell strong defense, and the Hurricane Skill allowing for relentless assaults.
If he were to battle Marcus again, he would not need to dodge the other’s Magic – Stone Assault, as he could fully counter it.
And Stone Assault could only be used on open ground, whereas his Magic – Hurricane Skill was powerful, effective in the air and on the ground alike.
Even the ice cap could be torn apart; coupled with his swordsmanship, tearing through a few Phantom Beast Knights would be a breeze.
…
Thus a day passed.
By nightfall, with no watch duty, Russell snuggled early into his sleeping bag to sleep.
Eric and Grove, likewise without watch duties, slept—there was no need to worry about Black Oil Dragon Ross’s safety; during the hatching phase, the earth itself offered the best protection, impervious even to the Snow Demon’s disturbance.
Under the power radiated by the Shadowflame Dragon, unless the Snow Giant Da launched a nocturnal attack, every Bipedal Flying Dragon could be born normally.
But now, the Snow Giant Da, licking its wounds beneath some ice cap, dared not show its face.
Once it did, the Torrential Flood Dragon could arrive at any time to provide support.
“Ga!”
The Little Dream Dragon, accompanying the descent of the Gloomy Dreamland, once again approached Russell, awaiting him to mount before going to call Polly.
After fetching Polly, it was ready to set off towards the snowfield to search for traces of the Snow Ghost.
Russell, however, signaled it to wait, “Ice Cream, we now have a new companion called Hape. How about we call Hape too?”
“Ga?” The Little Dream Dragon tilted its head.
Russell gestured for it to fly over to the magic outline of Hape, “This Pseudo-Harpy Dragon, it’s also become my contract Fantasy Beast. Come on, Ice Cream, call it over too; who knows, there might be some unexpected surprises.”
Polly’s presence added a touch of reality to the otherwise Gloomy Dreamland.
If they also included Hape, perhaps more possibilities would open up.
But the Little Dream Dragon looked at Hape, then back at Russell, and quickly shook its head, “Ga.”
“What do you mean?” Russell was puzzled.
He thought he could bring Hape into it just like the three Amber Worms and Unicorn Polly, once he had made the contract with the Fantasy Beast.
“Ga.”
“You mean you don’t want to bring it in?”
“Ga.” The Little Dream Dragon shook its head.
“So, you can’t bring it in?”
“Ga!” The Little Dream Dragon nodded.
“I see.” Russell was slightly disappointed, but out of that disappointment came contemplation. He wondered why Polly could be brought in, but Hape could not.
Clearly, it was not because Hape lacked a Primordial Spirit form—Primordial Spirit form was more akin to a spiritual force existing in a magic form. As long as there was magic power, a Primordial Spirit form was likely possible.
“So, the issue must lie with Polly herself.” Russell glanced at the little pink pony, “Polly’s default magic allows her Wraithwalk, which is intricately related to the Gloomy Dreamland. Ice Cream must have used that connection to bring Polly in.”
Having realized this, Russell could only look at Hape with resignation.
He silently apologized.
“Let’s go, Ice Cream!”
“Ga!”
The Little Dream Dragon took flight.
Russell looked back at the large pit, where besides the Magic Light of Fantasy Beasts and Phantom Beast Knights, there was also Magic Light like cracks on the ground. Those were emanated by Black Oil Dragon Ross. However, what lay deeper underground, no one could glimpse.
Just how Ross evolved from a Black Oil Dragon Egg into a Bipedal Flying Dragon was a process anyone could only guess at.
Especially the way its power radiated into the soon-to-be-born Warm Enclave was also an unknown.
“Regardless, I’m going to have a dragon, a real dragon I can display openly!”
