Chapter 290 - 290 289 Cold Spring Point in the Snow Forest

Chapter 290: Chapter 289: Cold Spring Point in the Snow Forest (Added for Alliance Leader Hu Yifan) Chapter 290: Chapter 289: Cold Spring Point in the Snow Forest (Added for Alliance Leader Hu Yifan) Lucky Whisper!

Ever since the Fantasy Beast’s whisper evolved into a Lucky Whisper due to the Lucky Four-leaf Clover, Russell rarely heard those strange whispering voices.

And the last time he heard the voice of a Fantasy Beast was Bill the Windblade Brown Bear under contract with Grove.

“What Fantasy Beast could this be? Likes to catch mice at night to eat?” Russell’s thoughts wandered, pondering which Fantasy Beast would enjoy eating mice, “Could it be a cat, a wildcat perhaps? Or maybe a lynx, or an ermine, there are quite a few ermines on the snowfield.”

Lynxes and ermines are cold-loving feline animals, very common in the snowfields around the Shadowflame Duchy.

Russell’s uncle Roson’s contracted Fantasy Beast was a Golden Lynx.

“Polly, I heard the voice of a Fantasy Beast, it’s right in this Snow Forest. Let’s go, we should look for it carefully!” Russell said excitedly.

An explorer and his beast began their search in the Snow Forest.

The location of the Snow Forest was near the edge of the Shadowflame Dragon’s power radiation, with half inside the boundary and the other half outside. It can be said that this was the southernmost point of the Shadowflame Duchy, previously unexplored by anyone.

If it had been explored, the Snow Forest would have been marked on the family’s map.

“The snowfield is so vast and monotonous that even Flying Dragon Knights must fly cautiously, for fear of getting lost in the expanse,” Russell mused, especially when a blizzard hit, making it impossible to discern directions.

And it was only because the Flying Dragon Knights could sense the Cold Spring Point that they were not much stronger than flying types of Fantasy Beasts.

As one delved deeper into the Snow Forest, the temperature kept rising, and the tree species increased, moving beyond just the monotony of the fir trees.

Furthermore, the snow on the ground gradually reduced to a thin layer.

“The temperature here is close to zero degrees, it might even rise above zero if we go deeper,” Russell marveled.

Unicorn Polly also admired in her heart, “Russell, it’s really warm here, I like this Snow Forest. If I had lived here from the start, I wouldn’t have needed to go to Cold Spring Point to warm up.”

“Haha, but if you hadn’t gone to Cold Spring Point to warm up, I might never have met you,” Russell laughed.

“That seems to be true.”

They chatted while searching through the Snow Forest.

Suddenly, that strange whispering voice reached Russell’s ears again: “Mice, plump and tasty, why are there so few mice now, I do miss tearing them apart, shredding them into strips of flesh and swallowing them down.”

“Hmm, there it is again!” Russell’s eyebrows raised as he looked around.

He did not find the location of the Fantasy Beast, and it seemed that the beast had not detected him and Polly, which meant they were still at a distance.

However, Russell had plenty of patience.

Unknowingly, they made their way deeper into the Snow Forest and stumbled upon a peculiar area with no snow cover, lush and green.

“It’s really warm here,” Polly said comfortably in her heart.

“This place…” Russell observed the scene before him, feeling as though he had stepped from a coniferous forest into a small garden, not only with rich flowers and trees but also various small creatures rustling about, “it’s as warm as spring, it couldn’t possibly be Cold Spring Point, could it?”

“A Cold Spring Point in the Snow Forest?” Polly curiously asked.

“Yes, it feels just like Four Seasons Flower Sea and Reed Green Ripple Cold Spot, all have that spring-like aura.”

Their intrusion caused the small garden to stir rapidly.

Many small creatures scampered in panic, quickly darting into their burrows, while birds flapped their wings and flew away, or hid in the treetops to peep.

That odd whispering voice reached Russell’s ears once more, “Eh, strange creatures have intruded, they seem to be humans from the warm lands, riding a big white horse, and such a strange horse it is, with a horn on its head, tee-hee!”

He looked around sharply, yet could not spot the Fantasy Beast.

But he had his own means to deal with that; taking out an Ice Pellet Pearl from his pocket, he immediately activated the Quiet Dream Gaze skill.

In an instant, the view underwent a dramatic shift; the lush little garden ceased to exist, and instead, countless dim lines sketched out the contours of the Snow Forest.

Then.

Around him, Russell saw many magic lights, their faint illumination outlining peculiar shapes. These shapes crouched on the trees like some sort of bird, yet they appeared odd.

“They seem to have streamlined bodies… but their heads resemble a cat? An owl?” Russell found it hard to describe the specific forms of these silhouettes.

Soon he was astonished, “These strange owls, with such dim magic light, are clearly not Fantasy Beasts but rather like farmed Primordial Beasts… No, no, these are wild Primordial Beasts, or very likely successors to the Pseudo-Dragons like the Goose-like Dragon or something similar!”

At that moment, Russell could almost be certain that these owl-like silhouettes were the False Dragon Heirs.

The Goose-like Dragons appeared at the Four Seasons Flower Sea Cold Spring Spot, and the Goose-like Dragons surfaced at the Reed’s Green Wave Cold Spring Point.

And now in this Snow Forest, there seemed to be a Cold Spring Point too, home to a group of wild Primordial Beasts. All signs were indicating that these small creatures outlined by the dim magic lights that Russell witnessed were the Illusionary Beast Pseudo-Dragon Successors.

However, the immediate priority was not to study these False Dragon Heirs.

He continued to search around the little garden, and soon, on the branch of a large tree, he spotted a brighter magic light.

The magic light outlined the figure of a Fantasy Beast with exceptional clarity.

It was a Fantasy Beast that resembled the suspected Pseudo-Dragon successors around it, owl-like in overall shape but longer in form, with a special streamlined design that brought to mind the great creatures known as dragons.

“This…” Russell gasped in surprise.

Suddenly, he thought of a possibility. If those dim magic lights were emitted by Primordial Beast Pseudo-Dragon successors, then what kind of Fantasy Beast might be giving off this bright magic light that looked so similar, and what was its relationship to the Primordial Beast Pseudo-Dragon successors?

“Could it be a Phantom Beast Kind False Dragon Heir?” Within a few moments of staring, Russell’s mind raced with thoughts.

The Quiet Dream gaze dissipated.

Russell’s eyes remained firmly fixed on the trees ahead, and through the dense branches, one could faintly see a large bird of snowy white color.

Evidently.

This large bird was the Illusionary Beast Pseudo-Dragon Successor he had conjectured.

“Russell, have you found anything?” Polly asked in his mind.

Although it could slip into the Gloomy Dreamland, it was unable to see within the Gloomy Dreamland; its vision remained that of the real world. It stood with one foot in the Gloomy Dreamland and the other in the real world, straddling the line between the two.

“I found the Phantom Beast Kind Pseudo-Dragon Successor.” Russell replied in his mind, “Polly, I swear I will capture this Fantasy Beast!”

Pseudo-Dragon!

While not as mighty as the true Great Dragons, it was at least not much inferior to the Bipedal Flying Dragon, equally capable of creating a Warm Enclave.

And the Phantom Beast Pseudo-Dragon Successor, carrying the Pseudo-Dragon bloodline, had a much higher chance of becoming a Pseudo-Dragon than the average Fantasy Beast.

However, capturing this Fantasy Beast was not going to be a simple task.

Russell quickly racked his brains for a strategy. From the information gleaned through the Lucky Whisper, he knew that this Fantasy Beast enjoyed eating rats.

“Rats, I have plenty!” A plan rose in his mind, calming him, “Jerry, oh Jerry, now is the time for you, as the Rat King, to demonstrate your spirit of sacrifice!”

Then.

Towards the tree where the Fantasy Beast resided, Russell shouted loudly, “Hey there, Fantasy Beast that likes eating rats, hello, my name is Russell Fluorescent Fungus. There’s not much in my house, but I have an abundance of rats, how about I treat you to some?”
