Evil dragon has a warm heart
Chapter 280 - 280 279 Sword Control Technique

Chapter 280: Chapter 279 Sword Control Technique Chapter 280: Chapter 279 Sword Control Technique Russell stayed at Heiting Castle for a full two weeks, keeping his sister Rolin company until she gave birth to a healthy boy.

“Kuso, Kuso Tian Purplegrass!” Cooper cradled his own son, bestowing upon him the name they had prepared in advance.

The name had no special meaning, just like the names of most people on Dragon Sleep Continent, it was merely a common designation. What truly had special significance was the noble surname—named after elves or great dragons.

The newborn infant spent his days eating, drinking, and sleeping; there was nothing fun about it.

Once Russell made sure his sister and nephew were healthy, he planned to take his leave. Apart from cultivating, there was basically nothing for him to do during this time.

The deep freeze of the ice age meant that the entire Warm Enclave of Blackgarden Mountain was almost completely encased in ice.

Only at night would Russell take Little Dream Dragon out, rushing at speeds over fifty kilometers per hour beyond his domain, hunting groups of Snow Ghosts for a bit of excitement.

Beyond that, he didn’t find any treasures, but he did manage to become fully acquainted with all the amazing creations of Heiting Castle.

If necessary, he was ready to share this knowledge of the estate with his sister, to give her peace of mind.

On the evening before his departure, he once again scoured Blackgarden Mountain with Little Dream Dragon and unexpectedly discovered an in the process of being nurtured Spirit Insects.

“Gah?” Little Dream Dragon curiously looked at this luminous insect plant blooming with Magic Light.

From its outline, it was clear this insect plant was essentially a large tree. Spirit Insects like shrubs and trees that impacted the vegetation were rarely used to distill Magic Potions. Most were treated as magic materials, used for crafting.

For instance, the birch Spirit Insects in Russell’s domain affected the magic birch trees, which could be crafted into magic arrows, magic carriages, magic houses, and more.

Magic materials can be seen as the most premium of woods, imbued with Magic Power.

“Can it mature naturally?” Russell looked at the nurturing Spirit Insects, not willing to let Little Dream Dragon breathe Dragonflame.

Little Dream Dragon shook its head, then nodded.

Ever since the horn split into three prongs, its intelligence seemed to have increased; it was now capable of basic communication.

“So there’s an even chance of it successfully maturing,” inferred Russell, “That’s good enough. I’ll tell my sister about the location of this tree later, so the Tian Zicao Family can decide whether they want to cultivate it or not.”

If the Tian Zicao Family meant Rolin had the final say, Russell might have considered using a bit of Little Dream Dragon’s origin to help this Spirit Insect mature—nowadays, Little Dream Dragon could exhale one or two breaths of Original Dragon Flame without much cost.

But it would be many years before Rolin would take charge of the family.

So, Russell wasn’t inclined to be too generous.

When the next day came, upon his departure, he informed Rolin and Cooper of the tree’s location, “I happened upon it, felt the nurturing presence of a Spirit Insect, but I can’t guarantee its success… Sister, brother-in-law, this is goodbye!”

Watching the retreating figure of Russell,

Cooper couldn’t help but remark, “Everyone wishes each other to be watched over by the Shadowflame Dragon, but only Russell is truly the one under its gaze… Just stepping outside, and he discovers the nearby trees nurturing Spirit Insects!”

Rolin felt reluctant to see Russell go, but still smiled and said, “Of course, who else could my brother be!”

She then asked, “What are you planning to do with this Spirit Insect?”

“Give it plenty of nutrients, watch over it day and night, use some of Mr. Aine’s droppings, and irrigate the surrounding area with Magic Elixirs… The rest is up to the luck of this Spirit Insect. We can’t expect Mr. Aine to expend his Origin Dragon’s Breath just for a Spirit Insect.”

“Hmm, just handle it as you see best,” Rolin snuggled happily into her husband’s arms.

“Bill, you can do it!”

Entering the icy wilderness of the snowfield, Grove began to cheer on his contract partner, the Windblade Brown Bear, Bill.

“Roar!” Bill roared, continuously expelling wind blades to carve out a path through the ice and snow.

Unicorn Polly, lightly treading on air, found that flying no longer required any effort.

Meanwhile, Russell, riding on her back, found time to practice his Fighting Spirit Sword Control.

Fighting Spirit Sword Control, Fighting Spirit Armor, and Beast Fusion Shadow were the three major stages of Phantom Beast Knight training, each more difficult than the last. However, Russell was quick-witted, and didn’t find training too difficult to handle; he had already mastered Fighting Spirit Sword Control with proficiency.

Prime Breath kept bursting out; Russell’s Prime Breath and Polly’s Prime Breath created a unified resonance around their bodies.

This made the Prime Breath even more powerful, enhancing the reach of Fighting Spirit Sword Control – he could now handle the sword at will within three meters around him.

“Swift!”

Russell aligned his middle finger with his index finger, pointing forward, and the fine steel longsword, drawn by the pull of Prime Breath, shot forward like lightning toward the front.

Its speed was so fast that sight couldn’t keep up.

Boom!

Prime Breath burst forth, blasting the piled snow before him and leaving a large hole in the ice cap on the ground.

Its power was indeed startling.

As Polly ran forward, nearing the three-meter distance, Russell activated Fighting Spirit Sword Control and summoned the fine steel longsword back to him as if pulling it through the air.

He then furrowed his brows, deep in thought.

“Russell, your Fighting Spirit Sword Control is getting more impressive,” Polly praised him in her mind, “That big dumb bear hasn’t even managed to master it yet.”

The big dumb bear Polly referred to was Grove.

It’s worth mentioning that for Grove to have become a Great Knight in the dungeons was definitely within the realm of a genius Knight, yet he couldn’t grasp the essence of Fighting Spirit Sword Control – it might be because the Prime Breath fused with his Wind Blade Brown Bear was too clumsy.

Unlike Russell and Polly, who, after merging their battle qi and Prime Force into Prime Breath, could wield it as easily as using their own limbs.

Of course.

Though the Prime Breath fused with the Wind Blade Brown Bear was a bit clumsy, it was also robust, ensuring that once Grove completed the Fighting Spirit Sword Control, its power would undoubtedly be immense.

“Just average, number three in the whole country, no, number one,” Russell boasted in their telepathic connection.

But he quickly switched topics, “Polly, I’m thinking, what if we could combine Fighting Spirit Sword Control with the Wind Walking Skill and then develop an advanced version of the Wind Walking Skill… Imagine, if the Wind Walking Skill combined with Fighting Spirit Sword Control, wouldn’t the speed skyrocket to the limit?”

Even when Polly used the Wind Walking Skill at her fastest, she could only reach speeds of two hundred kilometers per hour – a respectable speed, but ultimately a bit slow.

Many common birds could fly as fast as Polly.

Some birds adept at flying could even reach speeds of four to five hundred kilometers per hour.

As for Flying Beasts like the one Knight Commander Kendall had contracted, the Aurora Hunter Falcon, it could fly at full speed reaching thousands of kilometers per hour, maintaining half that speed even after performing Beast Fusion Shadow, allowing Kendall to patrol Glowing Valley.

The speed of Bipedal Flying Dragons was also no slouch, easily reaching four hundred to five hundred kilometers per hour.

In comparison, Polly’s speed wasn’t quite impressive.

“How should we go about it?” Polly was intelligent but not keen on racking her brains.

Russell narrowed his eyes, his fingers waving gently, and the fine steel longsword flew around his body continuously, moving agilely through the air.

“The Wind Walking Skill has become a passive instinct, so if we stand on the fine steel longsword, using the Wind Walking Skill to reduce our weight, and then maintain the longsword in a state of high-speed sprinting… this way, we could perpetually sprint and fly!”

It sounded simple in theory, but it was complex in practice.

Yet Russell saw the feasibility in it and made a decision without hesitation: “Let’s settle on that. Polly, the first magic project we’ll develop will be an upgraded version of the Wind Walking Skill – the Sword Control Technique!”
