Chapter 241 - 241 240 Epic Battle

Chapter 241: Chapter 240: Epic Battle Chapter 241: Chapter 240: Epic Battle Above the vast snowfield, shades of teal and black intertwined.

The teal belonged to the Snow Demon Legion—though calling it a legion was a stretch, as Snow Ghosts and Snow Demons simply swarmed together without any organization.

Their combat approach was akin to a swarm’s reckless charge, randomly swinging axes, broadswords, and long spears—not only did they deliver heavy blows to the knights clad in black but were equally ruthless towards their own kind.

“Roar!”

A five-meter-tall Snow Demon, as robust as a muscular titan, and with deep blue skin, flailed a giant ice crystal-spiked maul with both hands.

Before the Knight Regiment could even charge, it swung its ice crystal-spiked maul, sweeping away a large number of Snow Ghosts that had gathered around it. The massive kinetic energy of the maul burst Snow Ghosts upon impact and exploded Ghost Beasts upon contact.

Even when the ice crystal-spiked maul hit the ground, it crushed several Snow Ghosts’ skulls, and Ice Pellet Pearls fell out on their own.

“Charge!”

In front of the brawny Snow Demon, the Knight Regiment, like a steady and resilient black torrent, forcefully pushed through all the Snow Ghosts, finally arriving before the musclebound creature.

They didn’t wait for the brawny Snow Demon’s maul to come crashing down.

The Knight Regiment split in two, maneuvering around both sides, while countless sword glows weaved into a large net, wildly slashing at the Snow Demon’s body.

The tough hide of the brawny Snow Demon meant that the sword glows, which could slice through Snow Ghosts, did little more than tickle it, barely cutting through the outer skin.

But this was just an appetizer.

Knights in the rear erupted with Battle Qi, thrusting long knight spears into the joints of the brawny Snow Demon. They couldn’t inflict significant damage, but successfully restricted its movements, making it easier for the knights at the back to proceed.

Boom!

A magic cloud blossomed on the upper body of the brawny Snow Demon, blasting a large hole directly through its chest.

The body of the brawny Snow Demon shook violently. Its leg joints were filled with knight spears, unable to bend. It staggered and retreated backward.

But the fight was still far from over.

The two Phantom Beast Knights at the very back of the Knight Regiment unleashed their Fighting Spirit Armor and Beast Fusion Shadow skills respectively—one transformed into a mountain-high savage bear, the other into a tank-like giant elephant—both fiercely ramming into the brawny Snow Demon.

The brawny Snow Demon could no longer control its body and fell heavily onto the snow.

“Change formation, pivot!”

After making a round, the Knight Regiment, like a black torrent once again, rushed toward the fallen brawny Snow Demon. Each knight, with a single sword, removed the brawny Snow Demon’s limbs and head before swarming over it again, each with a hammer, chiseling open its body.

“Roar…” The roar of the brawny Snow Demon was cut short mid-cry by a fierce hammer blow to the head, splitting the skull, silencing the roar.

The knights had now transformed into miners.

“Found one!” a knight shouted loudly, holding up an Ice Soul Pearl with both hands.

“Here too, and here!” another knight also raised an Ice Soul Pearl. This particular brawny Snow Demon was clearly a double-yolker.

“Regroup, reorganize, and move out!” the face of Baron Roman emerged from under his helm, riding atop a Nightmare Specter Horse.

Coiled around his waist was the King of Ebony-waisted Snakes, flicking its tongue at the cold snowflakes.

Above him, a Silver-Winged Wind Fox soared through the air, occasionally grinning and relaying information about the surroundings to Baron Roman.

Rumble!

The pounding of hooves on ice echoed with a massive rumble.

The knights, while hunting down scattered Snow Ghosts, moved forward without looking back. Soon, the rear support squad also passed by.

On the back of Unicorn Polly, Russell bent down for a glance at the shattered pieces of blue ice on the snow, which, just a quarter of an hour ago, were part of a ferocious and massive Snow Demon but now could only be guessed at from the patterns in the ice.

The maul that seemed like a bulldozer was now broken into more than a dozen chunks of ice, mingled with the blue shards.

“If there were no Snow Giants, Snow Demons and Snow Ghosts would hardly be a match for humans,” Russell thought silently.

Snow Ghosts were reanimated from the dead, having no brains, while Snow Demons came from another world, and it was unclear why they too lacked intelligence.

Even Grand Scholars believe that Snow Demons are not creatures from another world but monsters spawned by the magic of Snow Giants—similar to the underlings of a tiger, with Snow Ghosts being the most inferior and Snow Demons one level higher.

Otherwise, it’s hard to explain why Snow Ghosts on the Snowfields are killed off endlessly, and so are the Snow Demons, both lacking any intelligence.

The most important point is,

that upon their death, they all leave behind a crystallization of their power, the Ice Pellet Pearl and the Ice Soul Pearl.

Shaking his head, Russell no longer pondered these unanswered questions—after all, he wasn’t a scientist and had no need to delve into these matters. He would leave it to the Grand Scholars of Red Castle to ponder the ultimate mystery of where the Snow Demons came from.

Warhorses charged.

Only Unicorn Polly’s hooves did not touch the ground, but she still strode forward in large steps, blending seamlessly with the warhorses of the Knight Regiment.

Stylish as it may be, but at least within a large military force like the Knight Regiment, it was difficult for individuals to stand out. No matter how special Russell and Polly were, in the Glowing Valley Knight Regiment, they were just regular mounted soldiers.

Even Baron Roman was no exception.

The sky was filled with snow, with flakes larger than goose feathers, and the heavy, near-black clouds rendered the entire Snowfield battlefield into an apocalyptic scene.

Twenty black Knight Regiments, like twenty bayonets, plunged fiercely into the azure-colored Snow Demon Legion.

Bipedal Flying Dragons either circled high, connecting the battlefield, or they dove from the sky, showering Dragon Breath on the Snow Demons entangled by the knights. While their power was formidable, they were only minor characters in such large-scale army battles.

“Mr. Roman, to the right, lead your knights and continue charging to the right,” said a new command from a Bipedal Flying Dragon with a knight above the Glowing Valley Knight Regiment.

“Understood!” Baron Roman nodded.

He immediately issued the order, “All units, turn right!”

Immediately behind him, knights followed up, “Command, all units, turn right!”

“Command, all units, turn right!”

“Command, all units…”

The battle continued, and the Snow Demon Legion had already been shattered into pieces, drawn in several directions by the Knight Regiment, and gradually moving away from the area where the Snow Giant Da resided.

By evening,

a battleground suitable for the Shadowflame Dragon to fight the Snow Giant Da had astonishingly taken shape.

“Regroup on the spot, tally the casualties!” Baron Roman, leading the Knight Regiment, had escaped the chase of the Snow Demon Legion and, with the surveillance of Mr. Ross and the Silver Winged Wind Fox, confirmed the temporary safety of the Knight Regiment and immediately issued the order to regroup.

The knights dismounted one after another, using their warhorses to form a circle to block the cold winds blowing from all sides.

No one built a fire; they simply pulled out dry rations for a hasty meal and fed their warhorses a feed mixed with Magic Elixir to replenish their strength. Then, they all sat cross-legged on the ground, beginning to meditate to restore their Battle Qi.

“Three from the left wing formation are killed, and we’ve crushed their bodies,” Lord Utreras said indifferently.

Uncle Rosen sighed, “We lost five on the right wing.”

“Eight from the vanguard,” said Baron Marcus.

“Two from the rear,” Lord Sally promptly added.

Finally, Russell spoke, “The support unit hasn’t lost anyone, but we have seven injured. I will arrange them to stay at the back.”

As soon as he finished, the other lords breathed a sigh of relief.

The reason being nothing else but that the knights from the support unit were special, with shapes including Lord Rosen’s brother-in-law, Lord Sally’s grandson, and Lord Utreras’s nephew… Like Baron Roman wanting to protect Russell, everyone had someone they wished to protect.

Eating dry rations, drinking ice-brew.

Uncle Rosen suddenly grinned and said, “Gentleman, this is truly an epic battle! I missed the Battle of the Fallen, but to be part of this battle, I have no regrets in life!”

“What about me and Utreras?” Lord Sally took a sip of ice-brew and retorted, “We’ve missed both major battles; should we be happy or should we cry? Twenty-one years, the Knight Regiment has changed to a new generation, only leaving the two of us old ghosts.”
