Chapter 465: Chapter 374 Qin Taoran’s Gift_2

Thinking about her own current situation with Jiang Ning, Huo Miao felt an endless bitterness and regret welling up inside her.

Had she known things would turn out this way, she wouldn’t have instigated the twins to suggest kicking Jiang Ning out of the family. If Jiang Ning hadn’t left the Jiang Family, none of this mess would have followed. She might still be basking in the adoration of countless fans as a popular internet celebrity.

In the following days, Jiang Ning worked just like any other employee, clocking in from eight in the morning until five in the afternoon, punctually showing up at Huo’s for work. Just as Huo Li had said earlier, he didn’t ask Jiang Ning to do anything; it seemed her mere presence was enough.

Jiang Ning didn’t care what Huo Li was scheming. After all, with a daily salary of two hundred thousand, she would receive a transfer after clocking out each day; this deal was a win for her.

On her way home, Jiang Ning also picked up a parcel.

Jiang Ning wasn’t keen on online shopping and had low consumer desires. This parcel was specifically sent to her by Qin Taoran. Ruan Jiahua had been sentenced to prison, and Qin Taoran, along with her daughter, moved to a new city to live a new life, nearly two months having passed unnoticed.

During those two months, Qin Taoran found a job that was relatively light and spent her days working and picking her daughter up from school, their lives gradually becoming stable and on track.

Without the presence of Ruan Jiahua, the mother and daughter gradually emerged from the shadows of domestic abuse and felt immensely content with their secure and simple life.

Qin Taoran knew that having this new life was largely thanks to Jiang Ning. Without Jiang Ning’s help back then, she might have never been able to break free from Ruan Jiahua, let alone have the wonderful new life she now cherished.

Qin Taoran felt a deep gratitude toward Jiang Ning and, once her life stabilized, she specially contacted Jiang Ning, wanting to send her some items as a token of appreciation.

Jiang Ning had assisted Qin Taoran with all her heart, largely due to the missions assigned by the System, and she had received rewards from it afterwards. Initially, Jiang Ning didn’t want to accept Qin Taoran’s gift and declined several times.

But Qin Taoran was very insistent on sending something to Jiang Ning, claiming that what she was mailing wasn’t of high value but homemade snacks she and Ruirui made during the holidays, wanting to send them to Jiang Ning for her to taste.

Upon hearing this, Jiang Ning finally gave Qin Taoran her address.

A heavy cardboard box, wrapped up tight with packaging.

After Jiang Ning brought it home and opened it, she found that most of the items inside were ready-to-eat foods, along with a small portion of handmade trinkets.

The ready-to-eat foods were all made by Qin Taoran herself, including pickled radishes, boneless chicken feet, marinated duck feet, duck heads, duck intestines, spicy rabbit heads, cold rabbit slices, spicy beef, and all sorts of other instant meat dishes, even two large packs of spicy crayfish tails.

All these items were individually bagged, sealed with clear food-grade bags, and packed one on top of the other for shipment.

On every bag of ready-to-eat food, Qin Taoran had placed a small sticky note with the name of the dish, reassuring Jiang Ning to eat without worry as they were made by herself, safe and sanitary, and leftovers could be stored in the fridge.

Jiang Ning picked up the bag of handmade trinkets and noticed notes on them too. These were made by Ruirui, who had been learning at her kindergarten recently, and many were taught by her teacher, with a few being self-taught by Ruirui.

Knowing her mom was sending things to Jiang Ning, Ruirui was overjoyed and made many of her favorite trinkets, storing them up to send to Jiang Ning.

Jiang Ning looked at the large box of items, and it was as if she could feel Qin Taoran and Ruirui’s joy and hope for their new lives through the air... and their gratitude towards her.

Images of Qin Taoran’s appearance when she first saw her flashed in Jiang Ning’s mind—the face of a woman often abused, scared like a quail, just like a child often would be in such a family environment.

Having been bound to the System for so long, for the first time, Jiang Ning had a clear understanding of what she had done.

It seemed, due to her actions, she had indeed changed the lives of those who suffered, bringing them a new beginning.

The goodies Qin Taoran sent were plentiful, with the meat snacks alone weighing over ten pounds, not to mention the rest.

These items were shipped with cold-chain delivery, and the box was filled with numerous ice packs, making it clear that the shipping cost was definitely high.

Qin Taoran had said she was just sending some homemade snacks, claiming it wouldn’t cost much. But in reality, considering the expenses of the ingredients, labor, and shipping, these generous contents were not cheap at all.

Of course, more precious than the price was the sentiment from Qin Taoran and Ruirui.

Since the cooked foods needed to be refrigerated, Jiang Ning’s fridge couldn’t fit so much. Besides, these snacks were too much for her to eat alone; it would take forever to finish them.

Jiang Ning pulled out her phone, sent a message to Qin Taoran to express her thanks, then opened the chat with Qi Xingzhou:

A Ginger Root: What are you up to? Do you have time? Do you eat marinated foods?

After sending the message, there was no immediate reply from Qi Xingzhou’s end. Jiang Ning wasn’t in a hurry; she set her phone aside, unpacked the cute handmade trinkets and placed them around her home in suitable spots, and organized some of the ready-to-eat foods into her fridge.

When Jiang Ning checked her phone again, Qi Xingzhou had replied.

Qi Family’s Mushroom: Ning Ning, I’m hungry

...

Unknown to Jiang Ning, in those brief ten-plus minutes she was busy, the young master Qi on the other side of the phone was eagerly staring at the screen, awaiting her reply, so aggrieved that his eyes turned red.

The driving instructor in the passenger seat was startled and wondered what was wrong. Did he speak too loudly just now and make the young master cry?

But he had just been praising him for being smart and capable!

In his many years of teaching, he rarely encountered a student as bright and talented as Qi Xingzhou!
