Chapter 325: Chapter 240: Sparrow: Oh my life! I’m clearly not full yet!
Jiang Ning discovered for the first time how wonderful and melodious the System’s voice was.
As the System carried on with its endless task completion prompts, little hedgehogs carrying Merit Apples tumbled out from the panels and climbed onto Qi Xingzhou’s head.
Already accustomed to such bizarre sights, Jiang Ning didn’t stare at the scene and instead started walking out, following behind Zhang Lang and the others.
Unbeknownst to her, after she looked away, more and more little hedgehogs vanished from atop Qi Xingzhou’s head, and his originally clear and pure eyes gradually deepened. Using an old saying, "The child seems to have become smarter."
Zhang Lang and his colleague drove in two police cars, one of which was a prisoner transport vehicle.
Zhang Lang asked Jiang Ning, "How did you guys get here? Do you need a ride back?"
"We drove here ourselves." Jiang Ning shook her head to decline, "No need to trouble you."
"Alright," Zhang Lang nodded, not insisting, and pulled out a notebook from his pocket. "May I take a statement?"
Jiang Ning: "You ask."
This wasn’t the first time Jiang Ning had caught a criminal, and she already knew by heart the kinds of questions that would be asked during a statement.
Before contacting Zhang Lang, she had already thought about how to answer.
"We were on the same flight as Hao Manman, and our reason for following her was simple. A friend of mine is her fan. We wanted to get her autograph and accidentally overheard them."
Zhang Lang: "..."
He felt Jiang Ning was bluffing him, but he couldn’t produce any evidence.
Jiang Ning, with an open and innocent face, led Zhang Lang to where she and Qi Xingzhou had climbed over the wall, saying, "Right there, that’s where we climbed in."
Zhang Lang: "..."
He asked Jiang Ning a few other questions, and her answers were both ridiculous yet serious.
After smoothly finishing the statement, Jiang Ning left with Qi Xingzhou, leaving the rest to people outside their jurisdiction.
The two returned to the obscure corner where they had parked earlier. A few sparrows had already been waiting on the fence. Seeing Jiang Ning and Qi Xingzhou’s figures, they chirped eagerly, and the sparrow wearing a cute scarf was too impatient and flitted down.
Jiang Ning removed the miniature surveillance device she had put on it and then took out a small bag of unpolished rice from her bag to feed them.
The sparrows were delighted, all flying over and rubbing their fluffy little heads affectionately against Jiang Ning, their tiny sharp beaks occasionally emitting clear, melodious chirps.
Jiang Ning couldn’t help but raise her hand to touch them and also took a bottle of mineral water from the car to let them drink.
With both food and drink, the hopping sparrows called out to Jiang Ning even more energetically.
Every sound seemed like an attempt to please Jiang Ning, creating a scene filled with joy and harmony.
That is, until Qi Xingzhou, standing nearby with an expressionless face, moved closer and stared at them with a heavy gaze.
Wild animals are very sensitive, and almost at the instant Qi Xingzhou approached, they felt an immense pressure.
What were previously cheerful and jumping sparrows now stood straight, lined up, and were as silent as chickens, exuding a strong desire to survive.
Upon seeing this, Qi Xingzhou nonchalantly pushed the sparrow that had been clinging to Jiang Ning to one side and said, "They’re full."
Jiang Ning was puzzled, "Full? Already?"
Qi Xingzhou nodded affirmatively, "They’re full."
Jiang Ning, of course, trusted Qi Xingzhou’s words. Seeing that most of the grains remained, she didn’t take them with her but placed them on a few clean, dry leaves nearby.
That way, whenever the flock of sparrows got hungry again, they could continue to eat.
