Eternal Tale -
Ch. 313 - Stocking up for free, the sacred art of rounding things up
Buzz—
The massive ship continued flying into the distance, bathed in sunlight. The Five Elements Spirit Crane Tree swayed with a rustling sound, as if in delight.
Chen Xun glanced back thoughtfully. After some investigation, he had confirmed that no tree in The Great Li Realm had ever gained sentience and transformed...
Yet, Little Crane’s age seemed to have reached a bottleneck. He wasn’t sure if its life force would begin to wither away. The time was still too short to tell, so he could only wait until they reached the Three Thousand Great Worlds to find a solution.
Half a month passed. The skies cleared, and as far as the eye could see, a vast green ocean spread across the land—they had finally arrived at the Tian Duan Plains.
The big black ox nudged Chen Xun affectionately, its tail swaying excitedly. It had emerged from seclusion half an hour ago.
That Five Elements cultivation technique truly resonated with them, making the training process incredibly smooth. Unlike others who had to rely on their talent to slowly comprehend their techniques, they had a natural synergy with it.
"Old Ox, how is it?"
"Moo—moo~"
The big black ox grinned widely. It had already reached the mid-stage of the Nascent Soul realm, and its cultivation was progressing steadily. Every moment, it could feel its strength subtly increasing.
Now that it was practicing a proper cultivation method, its power had grown several times stronger than before. The Five Elements essence and the world's spiritual energy continuously nourished its body.
With a satisfied flick of its tail, the big black ox lay down beside Chen Xun, feeling an overwhelming sense of peace.
"Brothers, let's go! Time to get to work."
"Moo~"
"Brother Xun, I’ve been ready for ages!"
They called out in unison toward the distant horizon, their eyes filled with excitement—just like seeing a glimmer of hope, a glimpse of the future.
At that moment, the warm sunlight filtered through the gentle breeze, lingering in the air. The endless greenery of the Tian Duan Plains stretched far and wide in the springtime, filling the heavens and earth with vibrant life.
Beneath the golden sun, the colossal ship became a mere speck of dust drifting in the boundless world—whispering freedom, exuding an aura of transcendent solitude and untamed grace.
…
Half a day later. Little Red led Chen Xun and the big black ox along the outskirts of the Tian Duan Plains. The fiery light imprint on its forehead blazed brightly as its divine sense spread outward.
It began digging furiously—turning up spirit beast eggs with perfectly mixed yolks, rare herbs, and precious minerals—an incredible collection that left both Chen Xun and the big black ox utterly stunned.
They roamed the plains, excavating over a dozen massive pits. Some were even hidden behind flame-based restrictions, but Little Red dismantled them effortlessly and collected everything.
"Brother Xun, Brother Ox, see if there’s anything you need!" Little Red shouted excitedly from inside a pit, growing more and more animated. "This is my personal stash from over a thousand years! Those Foundation Establishment-level spirit beasts never even noticed them!"
"You keep it," Chen Xun said with a smile. "Stashing all this away couldn’t have been easy."
He patted Little Red on the head. "As long as we have food to eat, you’ll always have a bowl to wash."
"Moo~ moo~~"
The big black ox chuckled. Back in the Ningyun Mountain Range, they had lived just like this. Little Red was truly cut from the same cloth as them.
"No problem, Brother Xun!"
Little Red responded earnestly, though it didn’t understand what “washing bowls” meant. "Whatever you tell me to do, I’ll do it!"
The ground trembled slightly as Little Red eagerly resumed digging. This was one of the reasons it had been so determined to return.
In the depths of one of the pits, Little Red carefully took out a storage ring. A small lion’s head was engraved on it—a custom piece that Brother Xun had specially crafted for it in the city.
Chen Xun had once warned it that picked-up or stolen storage rings could be problematic. Such personal items should never be used if they were from someone else.
"Heh heh." Little Red grinned.
Although this storage ring wasn’t as spacious as the ones they had looted, it was perfect for its needs.
With swift movements, it packed all of its treasures inside. The most precious belongings deserved the most treasured storage space.
Two hours passed in a flurry of activity. Even the big black ox joined in to help. It took them that long to pack up everything—Little Red’s stashes were hidden far apart, always appearing in the most unexpected places.
This scene made Chen Xun burst into laughter. He was incredibly patient, showing no urgency at all.
"Brother Xun, we’re done!"
Little Red stretched out its paw, its head now completely covered in grass. "All our stash is packed!"
The big black ox also dumbly poked its head out, its eyes pure and unburdened. In front of its big brother, it never had to think too much.
"Let’s go, brothers—time to plunder the God-killing Stones!"
"Moo moo!"
"Roar roar!"
They cheered and dashed through the vast sea of green. Behind them, a massive dark shadow loomed—it was their colossal ship, with Little Crane in tow, chasing after them.
Buzz!
A thunderous hum echoed through the sky. The greenery within dozens of miles flattened under an invisible pressure. Nearby spirit beasts trembled in fear and began frantically grazing—just eating as if their lives depended on it!
In the blink of an eye, a streak of black and white light flashed. The massive ship vanished into thin air as if it had never existed.
Tian Duan Plains.
The horizon was dim, shrouded in an endless storm of God-killing Winds that swept across the land, eroding spiritual energy and extinguishing divine senses.
Buzz!
A massive ship slowly descended into the abyssal ravine. Three shadowy figures stood at the prow, each sporting an eerie grin filled with excitement.
Clad in full bandit attire, their eyes gleamed with the thrill of looting. Any sign of a glimmer in the darkness was met with an instant, no-mercy "loot-first, ask-later" policy.
The ship melded seamlessly into darkness. The branches of the Five Elements Spirit Crane Tree extended outward, wrapping around the God-killing Stones, and pulling them up with rumbling force. The four brothers got to work simultaneously.
They leaped into the air, scattering in all directions, and letting out excited cries.
Little Red’s body began to expand—this was its battlefield! The fiery glow of its divine sense even managed to slightly suppress the God-killing Winds. It called out loudly:
"Brother Xun, there are so many God-killing Stones! No one’s taking them!"
"Damn it, brothers—grab as much as you can! But no greed!"
"Moo~~ moo~~"
Rustle rustle
Massive chunks of God-killing Stone were hauled onto the ship’s deck at a speed that would leave anyone in shock. Yet, despite their efforts, the supply of stones in the Heaven-Severing Great Rift remained seemingly endless.
The big black ox flicked its hoof, summoning over a thousand storage rings. It was practically broken except for its absurd collection; there was plenty of space left.
Boom! Boom!
A deep, resonant echo rumbled through the ravine. Chen Xun wielded twin axes, sweeping through the air and harvesting God-killing Stones in every direction.
This was basically free spirit stones! What cultivator in the world could resist such a temptation?!
Still, he remained vigilant, keeping an eye on the slumbering three-eyed being deep beneath the ground. The God-killing Stones had no connection to the rock sealing it away—there was no flow of energy between them.
The big black ox had also sent Chen Xun a sound transmission, confirming that the seal wasn’t formed by an array but by the massive purple-gold-veined boulders themselves.
Chen Xun glanced at the being and gave a slight nod. He dared not touch it. Even though he was now a mighty Nascent Soul cultivator, an inexplicable sense of dread still lingered.
Humans naturally fear the unknown.
And in this world of cultivation, the unknown often meant trouble beyond comprehension.
"Old Ox, I suspect they’re from the Three Thousand Great Worlds."
His eyes narrowed as he transmitted his thoughts to the big black ox. "To break through the power of a world’s barrier and forcibly send them here… whatever’s behind this must be a huge deal."
"Moo~ moo~"
The big black ox exhaled through its nostrils and nodded lightly, but its hands didn’t stop moving—it was still diligently hauling stones.
Little Red, on the other hand, was joyfully hopping around in the distance, completely in its element. Mining had become its specialty, and the less it knew about the situation, the happier it seemed.
