Chapter 962: Chapter 957: Primordial One
"Then let’s go." Lin Xin was exceedingly curious about what would happen after the key was completed.
His intuition, having reached four levels of power, was terrifyingly accurate. Anything not at his level was almost predictable with certainty.
To ordinary people, this ability was considered a mark of heavenly favor, a child of fate.
Lin Xin closed his eyes and sensed, extending his massive spiritual power downward.
Creak...
Due to the concentration and high density of spiritual power, some edges of the breaks in the ruins of the Imperial Palace emitted crisp sounds, as if being twisted by an invisible force.
Violent winds were stirred, making it difficult for the Dongye team members in the palace to breathe. They hurriedly stabilized themselves to avoid falling.
Boom!
A large hole blasted open beneath Lin Xin’s feet. The hole was oval-shaped with incredibly smooth edges. Looking down from the side, one could see a straight, giant passage extending deep into the underground of the Imperial Capital.
The edges of the passage were wrapped in an invisible transparent twisting force field, like a massive pipeline thousands of meters long.
The end of the pipeline led to the unseen depths of the Imperial Capital’s underground.
"This is it. Let’s go down."
Lin Xin was the first to jump down.
Dongye followed closely, and the rest of the team hurriedly followed.
In the distance, the nine of them looked like sesame seeds, falling hard into the giant hole that suddenly appeared in the center of the Imperial Capital.
Boom!
Lin Xin landed heavily, and through mental connection, allowed his subordinates to take over the aftermath, arranging everything before he looked around the environment.
This was a pitch-black, square-shaped, enormous Underground Palace.
The spot where they landed was precisely in the rear half of the Underground Palace.
All around, on the black stone bricks, were twisted metal and stone debris smashed open.
Several robot-like black guards, five meters tall and holding long spears, lay to the side, emitting sparks, obviously accidentally injured by Lin Xin’s spiritual power just moments before.
The pure spiritual power concentrated and compressed to a certain intensity resulted in power no less than acting by oneself.
Seeing this scene, Lin Xin felt confident; he had never gathered spiritual power like this before.
"Search here, gather the living, and kill those who don’t comply."
He ordered directly.
"Yes!"
Dongye accepted the command, leading the other seven to spread out in all directions, smashing through.
The passages of the Underground Palace looked like paperboards to them, and any alloy wall, no matter how thick, would be punched through.
In a matter of seconds, the surrounding Underground Palace was smashed to bits.
Lin Xin pinpointed a direction and walked directly towards the only black area detected by his spiritual power.
That was the only place he couldn’t explore mentally.
In such a place, the fact that there existed an area his spiritual power couldn’t explore intrigued him a little.
The current Aojia Empire was just a slightly boring game for him, too easy to clear.
Hence, some unknown elements were needed to add some fun.
As he moved forward step by step, all the rubble and debris automatically parted, pushed away by an invisible force.
Both walls, floors, robot guards, and the original passageways of the Underground Palace were twisted and squeezed into a standard tube-like passage.
Lin Xin stepped along this passage, taking dozens of steps to reach the end.
There was a grand archway over ten meters high.
On the door were carvings of two black monstrous heads protruding only halfway out.
These half-bodied monsters were entirely black with ram horns on their heads, and a faint white gleam in their eyes.
Seeing Lin Xin arrive, these monsters turned out to be alive and let out eerie, eerie laughs.
"Open the forbidden door."
"This is destiny’s choice."
The two monsters spoke in a language Lin Xin had never heard, yet he fully understood what it meant.
These languages, just hearing them, stirred an unsettling emotion.
"You must solve the riddle of destiny."
"To open the forbidden."
The monsters spoke one after another.
"Interesting. Tell me, what’s your riddle?"
Lin Xin stood still, curiously asking.
The left monster shrieked.
"A dagger buried under twilight!"
The right monster sighed.
"Focus on the Divine Court in the heavens!"
Lin Xin frowned slightly, beginning to ponder carefully.
"What do these two sentences describe? A word, an object, a living thing, or what?"
"Don’t know."
"Guess it yourself."
"Then I’m asking differently, what category is this riddle?" Lin Xin rephrased his question.
"No idea."
"Don’t even know that? Dumbasses!"
Lin Xin’s eye twitched and he was somewhat infuriated.
"Then let me ask again..."
"Time’s up for answers."
"If you can’t answer, scram! Who do you think you are with that level of intelligence to challenge the forbidden door? Go home and suckle, and even your mother wouldn’t want you!"
The two monsters burst into laughter.
Boom!!
Their laughter stopped abruptly.
The door was twisted and shattered by a single slap from Lin Xin, ripped open from the center.
The bodies of the two monsters were torn and exploded, dying on the spot.
"Do you know how people die? By seeking their own death."
Lin Xin cast a glance at the nearby half-headed monster head wriggling on the ground.
Striding into the grand entrance.
Inside the entrance lies a vast expanse of hazy white mist.
In the darkness, there’s a vast amount of white mist, creating an eerie sensation.
The white mist brings a slight glow, preventing the entire dark space from being utterly pitch-black.
The ground is very smooth, with varying depths of blue patterns.
The walls on both sides are carved with hazy ghostly faces of different sizes, none appearing to be human faces.
Following this space deeper inside.
Lin Xin soon arrived in front of a box the size of a suitcase.
"You... you actually came in!!?" Beside the box, an old man was half-lying down, dressed in platinum imperial robes, with a platinum crown. It was clear he was the Emperor of the Aojia Empire.
As for his name, Lin Xin had long forgotten.
For insignificant ants, he wouldn’t waste mental capacity memorizing their details.
Instead, he would periodically clear and consolidate his memory to prevent a long duration from causing too many memories and leading to confusion.
The Emperor’s eyes widened in terror, staring at Lin Xin in disbelief.
"That door... cannot be opened! Impossible!!"
"Is this the greatest reliance, or rather the trump card, in your treasury?"
The thoughts in the Emperor’s mind were clear to Lin Xin at such close proximity.
He actually planned to rely on this box to counterattack him.
The idea was simply laughable.
"Just a mere box." Lin Xin’s eyes flickered.
The Emperor’s head twitched directly, and red and white brain matter flowed out from his nostrils, slumping to the ground, lifeless.
Only then did Lin Xin stand before the box, placing a hand on its surface, pulling the lid upwards with adhesion.
Click.
The box seemed to be locked.
Lin Xin increased his strength, applying tens of tons of pulling force.
Click.
The black box wobbled slightly, but still didn’t budge.
"Interesting."
Lin Xin was immediately intrigued.
He extended both hands, pressing down on the box.
"Open!"
Thousands of tons of force, no use.
Directly unleashing hundreds of thousands of tons of immense force.
The black box became increasingly immobile.
A mere box could withstand such terrifying pulling force.
Lin Xin knew that this thing was absolutely not simple.
He dared not apply more force, as many chests had standard self-destruct mechanisms, and excessive violence could potentially trigger self-destruction, completely destroying the contents inside.
He glanced to the side, grabbed the Emperor’s right hand, forced out a drop of fresh blood, and smeared it onto the box.
Hiss...
A flash of black light.
The black box made a faint sound, finally producing a subtle noise.
It slowly opened.
Inside was a mysterious statue carved from black stone.
It depicted a black, tentacle-winged mysterious figure.
Its eyes were covered with black cloth, the lower half of its face wearing a sinister smile.
Below the statue was a base with an inscription.
’Source of evil, root of disaster. When the seal is opened, it signifies the cosmic catastrophe.’
The inscription was in some ancient and obscure language, and the age of this statue was evidently very old.
Lin Xin picked up the statue, its surface feeling just like human skin—warm and with a silky touch.
Crack.
Suddenly, cracks began appearing on the surface of the statue.
The cracks multiplied, becoming denser and denser.
A crisp sound, and the mysterious figure in the statue revived, breaking free from Lin Xin’s grasp and flying into the air.
A gigantic spatial distortion sphere started swirling and emerging beside it.
"Sacrifices and offerings will fulfill all your desires."
The mysterious figure vibrated its wings, hovering in mid-air in front of Lin Xin, its lips unmoving yet emitting a dull sound.
"Such big words, fulfilling all my desires?" Lin Xin felt like he’d discovered something really amusing.
"I want to rule the grand cosmos, can you do that?"
"Insufficient sacrifices." The mysterious figure’s statue replied woodenly.
Boom!!!
Lin Xin slapped the statue of the mysterious figure, with a thunderous crash, hurling it into another spatial force field that he had condensed to prevent the slap from flinging it off the planet.
The mysterious figure in the statue screamed, with numerous cracks appearing all over its surface, soon flying back again.
"I’ve long since stopped paying for things, much less sacrifices? No one has dared to ask me for anything in many years," Lin Xin chuckled. "Give me a grilled steak."
Swoosh!
A freshly grilled steak appeared in front of him, still steaming hot.
The mysterious figure’s statue went silent beneath its stiff expression.
A flash of black light, and the steak was instantly swallowed by Lin Xin into his stomach.
"It really worked, and it tasted not bad."
He wiped the corner of his mouth.
Seeing the mysterious figure statue shuddering, evidently frightened by his eating manner.
"Tell me, where are the millennium key fragments of the underground treasury?"
"Are you searching for traces left from the Primordial Time?" the statue asked in a monotonous voice.
"Primordial Time?" Lin Xin heard a new term.
