Chapter 931 - 926 Clue 2

Chapter 931: Chapter 926 Clue 2

Let Chen Feiyang go home and rest for two days.

Lin Xin took advantage of the night, slowly walking towards home.

His power was recovering every moment, restoring more than ten billion average attributes each day.

Such terrifying power, if it weren’t for his efforts to suppress and disguise his appearance.

He might have immediately transformed into a colossal, powerful monster form.

Compared to human form, that terrifying form is the appearance that can best unleash his strength.

But for Lin Xin now, reverting to that form would cause chaos but have no other significance.

He keenly felt that the cosmos wasn’t as safe and weak as it seemed on the surface.

So he has always disguised himself, always waiting.

Waiting for a possible opportunity, an opportunity that could let him glimpse the deepest secrets of this world, of this universe.

After all, even though he just came out from the black cosmos.

He ultimately stood at the peak of the entire black cosmos. And one black cosmos reflects one-fifth of the rules of the entire universe.

In other words, he at least mastered nearly one-fifth of the universe’s rules, even if not among the most elite existences, he wouldn’t be weak.

So, he could be cautious but wouldn’t be overly timid.

The crisp sound of footsteps slowly echoed under the dim streetlights,

The surroundings clearly covered in dense tree shade, forming quite a large park. Yet, such a distinct echo could be heard.

Lin Xin suddenly glanced around.

No one was around, without knowing when he had walked into such a desolate and lonely environment. And he hadn’t noticed it himself.

He lowered his head, looked at the shadow beneath his feet.

"Interesting..."

*********************

Just a few thousand meters away from Lin Xin, in front of a large supermarket.

Three figures in blue-black uniforms, resembling police officers, stood at the entrance of the supermarket.

Leading them was a middle-aged man with a small mustache.

He wore a monocle, appearing genteel, very much like a professor or scholar teaching in university.

The other two were much younger.

On the left behind the middle-aged man was a black-haired young man, looking tense, perhaps more appropriately called a boy.

He tightly gripped a small black handgun, the a340 model police-issued handgun that had been newly equipped to the police force.

Such handguns were quite adequate for security use, but due to deliberately weakened penetration, allowing the bullet to stay within the body, inflicting greater damage. Such police guns were often used to kill criminals or maintain security.

Rather than in this special scene.

"Are you nervous?"

On the right behind the middle-aged man was Yang Songyu.

She similarly held a small handgun, her eyes sharp, faintly carrying a trace of fanaticism. Yet her expression was incredibly calm.

Giving a sense of abnormal contradiction.

The same blue-black uniform, which on her still projected the special charm of a beautiful policewoman.

"A bit." The boy swallowed.

"Teacher Wen, is this place...?"

Yang Songyu turned, looking with inquiry towards the middle-aged man at the front.

"Yes, it’s here." The middle-aged man’s surname was Wen, given name Shenmin.

His identity was the original energy emissary leading the team to Yongxing City to investigate the situation.

Now he reached out, spreading his hand in front as if grasping something.

"The space here, has been isolated. It completely became another time-space.

Such effects, aside from that thing, nothing else can form them."

"What will we encounter?" Yang Songyu asked softly.

"I don’t know, maybe strong opponents, or perhaps nothing at all."

Wen Shenmin whispered.

"Let’s go, staying here isn’t safer than inside. If it truly is the thing in the intelligence."

He took big strides to push the supermarket glass door open, heading inside.

Yang Songyu followed him in, then came the black-haired boy.

His hands kept trembling, evidently overwhelmed with nervousness.

"You can’t go on like this, Zuo En." Yang Songyu whispered. "Being overly nervous detracts from making timely responses and exhausts physical energy and spirit."

"I know... I know..."

The black-haired boy Zuo En clearly grasped these drawbacks but could not stop himself.

Yang Songyu, seeing this, could only helplessly give up.

Fortunately, East Star Academy had the student defense artifact, ensuring students’ life safety at the last moment.

The three entered the supermarket.

Inside, the lights were brilliant.

But eerily, the elevator wasn’t moving, and the shelves and cashier’s counter were empty.

The cash register was black-screened.

Not a single sound or movement.

The supermarket was large, with three levels above and below.

The lower level had daily necessities and food.

The second level had clothing and shoes.

The third level had beddings and leather goods.

The plastic signboard in front of the escalator marked them clearly.

The three were at the front of the escalator, the surroundings were empty, a cold wind constantly blew through their collars, chilling them from head to toe.

"Let’s go, we must first find that thing; if other forces get hold of it, the consequences are unthinkable."

Wen Shenmin frowned.

Here, he too felt a bit uneasy, but with the metaphorical bow drawn back he had no choice but to shoot.

Leading, he began stepping onto the escalator.

The other two aides quickly followed. At this moment staying close to the original energy emissary was the safest option.

The three soon disappeared within the corridors of the second level, then there was no more sound.

After a short while, the supermarket door was quietly pushed open.

Lin Xin slowly entered.

He was wearing a jet-black trench coat, with black-knit gloves for warmth, unarmed. Yet he carried a slight smile, calmly walking in.

Squeak.

The glass door behind emitted a subtle sound, faintly reverberating in the vast supermarket, further highlighting the solitude of emptiness.

"Not a separated space, nor a solitary, secret formation... Truly interesting.

A special scene even I cannot recognize."

He glanced at the escalator the three had taken earlier.

Instead of choosing to go to the second floor, he walked directly to the cashier area.

He tried the computer at the cashier, there was power and it could be turned on.

After two soft beeps, one of the computer screens lit up.

A string of lettered code flashed by, and soon a line of text appeared.

"Complexity has never been simple, but simplicity is far more complex than imagined."

Lin Xin pressed Enter.

The screen went black immediately, leaving no further movement.

He straightened up and rubbed his chin.

Pushing open the metal railing, this was the facility the supermarket used after closing, to prevent carts from going out without being checked out.

Lin Xin walked in between two of the shelves.

To his sides, on the left were chocolates and wafers and the like.

On the right were candies such as fruit candies and milk candies, with every imaginable brand available.

After walking through the aisles for a while, Lin Xin reached the far end.

He saw a metal cart filled with a few pieces of bread that hadn’t been checked out.

There was also a receipt in the cart, on which there seemed to be handwriting.

He reached into the cart to retrieve the slip.

On the back of the receipt, a line of scrawled handwriting was clearly visible.

’I want candy’

It seemed to be written by a child, obviously crooked and uneven.

After pocketing the note, Lin Xin searched the first floor again but found nothing else.

He decided to take another look at the second floor.

The ways to get to the second floor, aside from the elevator, only included the escalator.

Without electricity, the escalator was nothing more than a regular staircase.

Lin Xin walked up step by step, his footsteps remarkably clear throughout the supermarket.

The supermarket seemed to be completely isolated as if, from the escalator, he looked outside.

Through the windows, the nighttime street scene outside appeared cold and desolate.

Not a single pedestrian in sight, and not a trace of vitality.

****************

Yang Songyu and the others went up to the second floor.

In a daze, they seemed to hear a burst of music.

It sounded like piano notes, yet also like an electronic keyboard.

Beep... Bong... Beep.... Bong....

With an echo, like the faint singing of a little girl drifting over.

’La la la..... La la la.....’

There were no lyrics, just simple la la la, followed by a light chuckle.

"What sound is that? A recorder? Tape? CD?"

The black-haired boy asked nervously.

"I don’t know, let’s go check it out."

Wen Shenmin said, frowning.

The palm of his right hand slightly shimmered with a hint of silver, a sign of metalization.

Yang Songyu gripped the pistol tightly in her hand, with a faint silver glow appearing beneath her skirt on her left leg as well.

She followed behind Wen Shenmin, directly heading towards the direction of the sound.

The black-haired boy followed them closely, step for step.

The three of them rounded a few shelves, arriving at the children’s clothing section.

A row of brightly colored children’s clothes was neatly arranged, with toy shelves on the side.

"The sound is coming from over there."

Wen Shenmin headed directly toward the right side of the children’s clothing section, almost at a half-sprint.

Buzz.

Yang Songyu followed Wen Shenmin, turning past a toy shelf, suddenly feeling something was off.

She turned her head to look.

"Where is Zuo En?!"

She exclaimed in surprise.

Wen Shenmin also quickly turned to look back, the area behind them was empty, and there wasn’t even a trace of Zuo En.

"Zuo En!"

He called out loudly.

No one responded.

The surroundings were silent, as if standing on an empty stage, with only him and Yang Songyu performing a monologue.

"Use the contact phone."

He raised his right hand, reminding Yang Songyu.

The latter hastily took out a small box-like white phone from her pocket, pressing a button to connect.

Beep.....

Beep...

After two brief waiting sounds, the contact phone connected.

But on the other side, apart from the hissing of air, there was no other sound.

"Zuo En! Where are you? Answer now!"

Yang Songyu’s face darkened; she didn’t want anything to happen to this guy, especially for no apparent reason.

Still, there was no answer.

"Teacher, it seems the issue isn’t as we thought...."

Yang Songyu raised her head, her expression grave.

But she didn’t get to finish her sentence.

Because in front of her, it also became empty.

Wen Shenmin was gone too.

Yang Songyu felt a tingling at the back of her head, she quickly turned around, looking in all directions. There was no sound at all.

She hurriedly ran out of the aisle, looking to the ends of the shelves on both sides in the distance, still not a single shadow in sight.

"Teacher!" she shouted loudly.

No response.

Only the echo of her own voice, continuously resonating throughout the supermarket.
