Eternal Swordmaster -
Chapter 86 - 85: Seriously Injured_2
Chapter 86: Chapter 85: Seriously Injured_2
The underground river cave was a mess, strewn with broken rocks and bloodstains from the fight, with black and red stains almost turning the entire cave floor a different color.
A few disciples of the Yellow-clothed Sword Sect were carefully examining the ground, seemingly looking for something.
Lin Xin, with his sharp eyes, noticed that these people were stealthily, without attracting attention, picking up bone fragments from hidden spots on the ground and secretly putting them into their bags.
"These must be the ones who don’t dare to hunt the horsemen, only able to scavenge for bones here," Xiao Lingling whispered into his ear.
She leaned in close, her chest pressing against Lin Xin’s arm, yet she seemed not in the least embarrassed. Instead, her cheeks were slightly flushed as she leaned even closer.
Lin Xin, deeply poisoned, relied on his Inner Qi, which he had rapidly recuperated for a short time, to barely stabilize his body and had no strength to push her away. He could only let her lean on him and vicariously use her strength to keep himself steady.
The noise of the two of them moving attracted the gaze of the scavengers.
Lin Xin swept his gaze over them, showing a look of cold harshness, and directly walked towards the passage leading back.
The scavengers, seeing his tattered clothes covered in blood but his body standing straight and moving with strength, assumed he was probably a master who had survived a fierce battle and walked out from the deep parts of the cave. Seeing his cold and disdainful expression, they immediately averted their gazes, not daring to look any longer.
"Tsk, tsk... it’s really tragic... the trial is just so miserable," a couple of disciples muttered in a low voice, "No wonder many places in the Outer Regions call our Four Sects the Heretic Sect, now it seems there’s some reason to it... "
"What Heretic Sect? Isn’t my Pine Forest Sword Sect self-proclaimed as an Orthodox Sect?" another one countered.
"You said it yourself, self-proclaimed... It’s not Qi Cultivation, the sect doesn’t even treat us like humans..."
Their voices grew softer until they were no longer audible.
Lin Xin and Xiao Lingling finally made it to the passage leading upward, and upon seeing no one around, they both breathed a sigh of relief.
"You can let go of me now," Lin Xin said in a low voice.
Xiao Lingling’s chest was still tightly pressed against his arm, apparently somewhat reluctant to let go.
"It’s okay, Big Brother Lin, you’re injured, and me supporting you could help stabilize you a bit more," she replied.
As they were speaking, footsteps suddenly came from ahead.
A group of disciples in black attire descended from the upper part of the passage, almost all of them injured.
The leader was none other than that Third Layer disciple from the Poison Gang.
They too had entered the cave with Lin Xin and the others, and upon seeing Lin Xin and Xiao Lingling, the man’s eyes turned red with anger.
"It’s you!! You demon!"
Not just him, all the people from the Poison Gang behind him had their eyes turn red, and they all unsheathed their swords clangingly.
"Kill him!! This man is an evil demon!!"
"He is the one who killed my brother! Kill!!"
The group of more than ten people, all as if they were facing their father’s murderer, charged straight at the two.
"Run!" Lin Xin was confused, but there was no time to explain. He drew out his Solar Yang Talisman Sword and channeled his Inner Qi forcefully.
Fortunately, the Solar Yang Talisman Sword did not require much Inner Qi to activate; a red flame immediately spread out from the blade, turning into three fireballs and roaring towards the group of disciples.
Thump!
As Lin Xin exerted his Inner Qi, his already weakened body was nearly blown apart again, and he spat out a mouthful of blood.
He forced himself to stand, flicking his wrist to release the last four Luminous Talisman Stones.
Boom, boom, boom!!
After several blasts of intense light, a group of disciples had been blown away, many suffering from temporary blindness as they were thrown against the stone walls, unable to get up.
"Hurry up!!"
Lin Xin staggered and shouted lowly, feeling his head getting increasingly dizzy.
Xiao Lingling quickly supported him, passing through a path that had been blasted open in the middle of the corridor.
"Believe it or not, we have no idea what you are talking about," she dropped this remark and hurriedly left with Lin Xin.
Lin Xin mobilized his Inner Qi, but this caused a slight shift in the toxins within his body. He had already started to feel his vision flickering chaotically, gradually blurring.
After struggling forward for several kilometers, he could no longer bear it. His face turned increasingly pale, and his body weakened, leaning slanted against the stone wall.
"Brother Lin... Brother Lin... how are you...?" Xiao Lingling’s voice reached his ears intermittently, sounding as if it was coming from a distant place.
Lin Xin tried to open his eyes, but could only catch a vague glimpse of a dirty face swaying before him. He felt light as a feather, as if his entire skin had lost its sensation, numb like it had been anesthetized.
He tried to raise his hand but, despite using all his strength, could only lift it halfway...
"The poison... it’s too potent... the movement of Inner Qi disturbed the stability of the toxins... now I’m really in trouble...." he thought bitterly.
Although he had always been cautious and careful, constantly growing to avoid such a state of extreme weakness, no matter what, even the strongest of masters had their moments of vulnerability.
He was no exception....
"Brother Lin... don’t worry... find the elixir... cure..." Xiao Lingling’s voice intermittently whispered in his ears.
Lin Xin could no longer hold back, waves of heavy fatigue came over him like a tide, completely engulfing him. Finally, he sank into darkness.
Groggy, unsure how long he had slept, Lin Xin woke up again, not knowing how much time had passed.
He felt as if someone was carrying him, moving forward at a very slow pace. After resting for a while, his consciousness seemed much clearer. His bodily sensations had also returned.
"Brother Lin... Brother Lin, have you woken up?"
Feeling his awakening, Xiao Lingling’s voice suddenly rang out.
Only then did Lin Xin see that it was Xiao Lingling who was carrying him on her back, step by step moving forward, the two sticking close together. He could sense the smell of sweat on Xiao Lingling, a pungent odor formed by layers of dried and freshly wet sweat repeatedly accumulating.
"Put me down..." Lin Xin opened his mouth, his voice so weak that it surprised even himself. He had used a lot of energy but only managed to emit a faint whisper, his throat swollen severely, as if something was obstructing his throat.
"I can’t... Brother Lin, you are still very weak, you better talk less.... just listen to me," Xiao Lingling turned her face, her sweat-drenched face breaking into a sweet smile.
"Those people from Poison Gang, they seem to have misunderstood us, claiming we killed their men and are seeking revenge. Later, I found a place in the square to hide, using many stones and the like to bury us both, disguised as corpses.
They dared not waste too much time here, they searched for a while and then went down to look for bone shards."
She spoke lightly, but Lin Xin grasped the dangers of their situation. During the time he had been unconscious, the hardships they met, perhaps were experiences Xiao Lingling had never encountered before.
"Have we reached that big square?" His current line of sight was still blurry, unable to see clearly the surroundings further away.
"Yeah... that’s the square where the decoys appeared...." Xiao Lingling quickly replied. "Brother Lin, you’ve been unconscious for three days already..."
"Is that so?" Lin Xin replied weakly.
