Chapter 838: Chapter 833: The Third Calamity

"River guardian?" Lin Xin’s heart skipped a beat. "The Taoist Ancestor disappeared?"

"Fang Yu, Jiu Se, Huanyu, Buddha’s Child, Tian Yin, and you... That’s enough."

The blood parrot cackled.

"I hope we can meet again... Hahaha...!!"

It laughed louder and louder before gradually fading away, getting quieter and quieter.

Eventually, it completely vanished into the void, along with its huge shadowy form, gradually dissolving until there was no trace left.

Lin Xin wanted to chase after it, but to his shock, he realized he couldn’t sense which direction or method the blood parrot had used to leave.

It wasn’t in the void or any other layer of the Heavenly Realm he could perceive.

The blood parrot’s words were filled with cryptic hints that Lin Xin couldn’t understand.

But there was one critical piece of information hidden in them.

Fang Yu was indeed not dead.

Floating in the void, Lin Xin made no move; he simply remained still.

He had intercepted the central war zone as requested by the Universal Heavenly Venerable.

Just as the Lotus of Operations was about to shatter, it appeared the void demons sensed something and began to retreat voluntarily, avoiding combat with him.

It was clear that the great catastrophe was imminent.

"One last slaughter to reap attributes, then back to the Nether Realm."

Lin Xin swiftly made up his mind. If the great catastrophe broke out and something went awry while he wasn’t at his altar, it would spell trouble.

With this thought, he charged at the massive horde of void demons.

Soon after, the battlefield erupted into explosions as Lin Xin slaughtered the void beings.

As soon as Lin Xin left, the Master of Cloud Light and his followers from the Guardian Army appeared in the void nearby.

The Faceless Heavenly Venerable also arrived, following closely behind the Master of Cloud Light.

"It’s over?" he asked the Master of Cloud Light.

"It looks like it was just a probing skirmish. The void demons are retreating," the Master of Cloud Light said with a frown.

"The blood parrot is extremely mysterious; I can’t even truly encounter its entity," the Faceless Heavenly Venerable shook his head.

"It seems we coincidentally caught them retreating, which is good news."

He glanced at Lin Xin who had started another slaughter in the distance.

"The central war zone seems secure as long as the blood parrot doesn’t intervene. With the other Blood List members and us, it should be manageable."

"Faceless Heavenly Venerable, I heard you have yet to join a major power?" the Master of Cloud Light suddenly asked.

"The great catastrophe is coming. We all have a Holy Land to rely on. Sherie Divine Monarch has Green Lake Mountain; the other Heavenly Venerables all have great factions behind them.

And you..."

The Faceless Heavenly Venerable frowned but didn’t reply.

This was the source of his current troubles. With his strength, he could easily secure a high position in any major faction.

But he was undecided between joining Green Lake Mountain or another sect.

If he joined Green Lake Mountain, the position he wanted wouldn’t be as grand as he hoped. But joining a smaller faction carried the risk of being destroyed during the catastrophe.

"If the Faceless Heavenly Venerable is undecided, why not choose the Nether Realm, where Sherie Divine Monarch resides?" the Master of Cloud Light suggested mysteriously.

The Nether Realm??

A spark of anger ignited in the Faceless Heavenly Venerable.

What was his status and strength?

Sherie Divine Monarch was strong, but so was he. They were equals. Expecting him to depend on someone slightly stronger—or possibly even weaker—was absurd.

"Let’s drop this matter," he replied curtly.

By now, other Heavenly Venerables had arrived, most of them here out of curiosity with less powerful avatars. Their main avatars were suppressing battles in other war zones.

The central war zone wasn’t just this small area. Although Lin Xin played a significant role, it only affected a small portion.

His actions caused a stir because he directly defeated the top-ranked Blood List Spirit Asura King and stabilized the most crucial central region.

"Enough talk about this!"

The Faceless Heavenly Venerable cut off the Master of Cloud Light, who was about to say more.

Kill, kill, kill!!!

Lin Xin was slaughtering madly.

The Light of Destruction was fully unleashed, his six arms wielding white Light Swords, releasing countless rays like a storm.

Overwhelming sword light continuously shot out from the Light of Destruction’s area, annihilating all the living beings within tens of thousands of Spirit Mile radius.

His eyes flickered with silver-blue star rivers.

Slaughter, killing, reaping as fast as possible.

To Lin Xin, the swarming void demons around him weren’t living beings — just moving masses of meat.

His task was to keep destroying them, creating black holes to consume them.

Boundless attribute energy poured into Lin Xin’s body.

Unbeknownst to him, a faint layer of black began to stain his form.

No one could stop him. The Spirit Asura Kings had begun to retreat; even the top Blood List blood parrot had departed, and the Star Blacksmith only engaged briefly.

Lesser-ranking Blood List Spirit Asura Kings didn’t stand a chance.

As Lin Xin continued his slaughters, the black hole in his chest subtly expanded, unnoticed by him.

The growth was so minuscule that Lin Xin thought it was just muscle expansion.

Countless void demons were sucked into the black hole, twisted and ground to pieces, becoming nourishment.

Lin Xin lost track of time in the slaughter.

In his foggy state, he began to forget everything, only feeling the intense pleasure of attribute points flooding into his body.

This sensation surpassed the thrill he felt during his initial slaughters in the Nether Residence.

It was now stronger, coupled with a numbing relaxation.

While swinging his six Longswords, Lin Xin felt a serene emptiness, as though he was in a mysterious realm.

Like a fish swimming in water, every moment was enveloped by warm currents.

Sssh!!

Suddenly, one of his swords cut through something different.

The feeling was unlike before, yet it made the immersed Lin Xin close his eyes, sensing with his spirit alone.

He was so quick that no ordinary cultivator could catch his movements.

All they could see was a flash of red light, and in the blink of an eye, all void demons were gone without a trace.

"What was that?"

"What did I just cut through?"

Lin Xin felt a strange curiosity.

But the overwhelming pleasure quickly smothered the thought.

"Whatever it was, it’s dead. In this void, what can stand against me?"

Another thought emerged.

************************

Sssh!!

A warship of cultivators from the void demon camp split in two.

In a flash, Lin Xin’s red shadow flew out, vanishing into the distant void.

Inside the warship, Soul Sect Cultivators screamed in agony, their bodies igniting with countless white flames, burning to ashes in moments.

The entire warship burned, disappearing in the void in no time.

Without Blood List powerhouses to control them, the void demons had scattered and fled.

The Heavenly Demon Army Master’s side seemed indifferent to these fleeing demons.

The main force had already left.

Forces aligned with the void demons, like remnants of Shadow City, the Soul Sect, and other cultivator elites, began to follow the chaotic demon army and escape.

They tried to head deeper into the void.

The void was vast; the Mortal Realm, the Heavenly Realm, and the Abyss were part of a cylindrical region within the cosmos.

The cylinder was composed of countless worldly planes, with the Mortal Realm, the Heavenly Realm, and the Abyss being its bones and organs.

The myriad other planes, like stars, formed its flesh.

The central region, the key, was where the Heavenly Venerables’ true bodies resided.

That was also where the stars they raised were anchored.

Outside of the void was the unending star ocean known as the Dead Star Sea.

Different from the void, the cosmos outside was called the Star Sea.

Escaping the void might avoid the Heavenly Alliance’s pursuit of the void demons.

But their plans would inevitably fail.

A blazing red shadow swept through those trying to escape the void, moving like the wind.

Where the red shadow passed, only remains and bones were left, sometimes not even that, just emptiness as if a storm had wiped everything clean.

In just one day, Lin Xin had decimated a significant portion of the fleeing void demon army.

A thousand-billion-strong force had been severely diminished by one man, something the Heavenly Venerables never expected.

They thought the void demons’ retreat meant preparing for the great catastrophe.

To their surprise, when they sent word to Lin Xin, they couldn’t catch him or find him.

Even messages through Jade Talismans went unanswered.

This concern the Heavenly Venerables.

The Master of Cloud Light took the initiative to search, leading the Guardian Army of the Chanting Star Cult. They soon found Lin Xin, still slaughtering demons in a desolate star domain.

********************

Sssh!

A sword light split a huge twisted fleshy warship in two.

The warship exploded, scattering blood and flesh like raindrops.

The white Light Sword in Lin Xin’s hand flickered, some parts damaged.

The six Light Swords flickered like failing lamps, nearing breakage.

His body remained spotless, but a closer look would reveal countless tiny red dots covering him.

These small red dots, like grains of sand, exuded a strong bloody scent, enveloping him in red light.

"Where am I?"

Lin Xin looked perplexed, glancing at the six Light Swords in his hands.

He remembered guarding the central war zone, killing void demons. How had he ended up in this unknown star domain?
