Chapter 83: Chapter 83: Crisis - Part 2
"Go!" Peng Yan and his wife took advantage of Lin Xin’s distraction and ran away, quickly disappearing into the distance of the passage.
Lin Xin turned around, waiting for people coming from the tunnel behind him, but he only heard a few faint collisions.
Boom!
Suddenly, the entire cave shook violently. He also nearly lost his balance, hurriedly bracing himself against the cave wall.
"What’s happening!?" he said, his face tense, "Could it be a collapse?"
*********************
Deepest part of the cave
Inside a huge cavern stood a vast and imposing black palace.
The palace was filled with towering black columns, each carved with various finely detailed and fierce-looking beasts and insects.
In the center of the underground palace, a square was encircled by more than ten massive columns, each tens of meters high.
The square had smooth stone paving, and at its center stood a massive statue of a four-armed woman in black clothes.
In front of the statue, a woman in red clutched her chest, blood spilling from the corners of her mouth, guarded by a golden-haired horse-man and encircled by more than ten silver-haired horse-men, all looking around warily.
"The Red Attic Witch deserves death by everyone’s hand! Today, encountering our Songlin Sword Sect, even if you had wings, you couldn’t escape!" a young man with a cold expression, holding a Yang Charm Sword, stood by a stone column, staring coldly at the woman in red. His eyebrows were peculiar; one side barely had any while the other side was thick and deep, slanting into his temples.
Around the square, dozens of Sword Sect disciples stood sparsely, all vigilantly watching the woman in red and the silver-haired horse-people.
Among them were several Innate disciples, but nearly every one of them was injured. Some had arms severed, being bandaged by those around them; others were pale-faced, clearly having suffered internal injuries, weakly lying unconscious on the ground.
"I say... Tianhe brother, can’t you speak less like a storyteller?" a burly man with a white bone necklace around his neck impatiently said. "After injuring so many to severely wound her, if she escapes again, it would truly bring great shame to us Innates."
Standing behind the burly man Wu Lianda were a group of fierce-looking Innate masters, one of whom was tall like a giant and had a small braid, with an exceptionally robust build — Keke Ha’er, one of the top five masters.
Another wore a large skull at his belt, unmistakably ranked tenth and famously known as the Bone Heart Sword in the inner zone.
"What nonsense are you talking, Wu Brother? Let’s kill these horse-men surrounding us first!" Keke Ha’er said, a large bleeding wound on his shoulder causing him pain and making him sweat with irritation.
"What big words!?" the woman in red suddenly chuckled lightly. Her voice carried across the square, clearly audible to all disciples.
"Songlin Sword Sect surely has a good plan, discovering my place of healing in advance and specifically sending you to surround and kill me." A trace of hatred flickered across her pale face.
"Had it not been for someone betraying me...just with you lot!!"
"Stop talking nonsense with this evil witch! Kill!" He Tianhe snorted coldly, his body suddenly lunging forward, turning into a white shadow darting towards a silver-haired horse-man.
Roar!
The horse-man roared ferociously, his scythe moving swiftly, casting deadly shadows slicing towards He Tianhe.
"Yangshuo Sword!" He Tianhe twisted his body, his talisman sword suddenly emanating a golden halo, the tip extending a meter-long white Sword Qi.
With a swing of the blade, clanging against the scythe twice, a flash of bloodlight, and his figure, not knowing when, suddenly appeared behind the silver-haired horse-man, a backhanded strike, the Sword Qi piercing its neck.
The other horse-men madly charged towards him, but were surrounded and countered by Wu Lianda and other masters, fighting with the golden-haired horse-man. Sword Qi and scythes crisscrossed, no one daring to approach within ten meters of them.
He Tianhe’s longsword vibrated, his head thrown back in a long howl. Around his body, masses of white light points emerged, rapidly converging upon him. Racing towards the woman in red, none of the horse-men advancing could match him. With Sword Light flashing, his movements almost seemed like teleporting, eerily traversing several meters, consistently appearing behind horse-men. One by one, the horse-men were slain.
"Gathering Spirit Physique!" the woman in red’s expression changed, her hands extended revealing a pair of fierce, bloodied, sharp claws. "Cannot leave you alive! Everyone move aside!"
With a fierce shout, her figure instantly turned into a red line, rapidly flying towards He Tianhe.
Bone Heart Sword found an opportunity from behind, his sword emitting white light, an inch of Sword Qi poised to stealthily stab at her back.
Puff!
The woman in red showed no movement, yet Bone Heart Sword grunted, flying backward, crashing hard onto the ground hitting several charging disciples. His face pallid, he violently spewed a large mouthful of fresh blood.
"Zhuang Brother!"
The Innate disciples supporting him quickly took out a Sweet Dew Talisman and applied it on him.
"Impressive!" Even as an Innate rank ten top internal master, Bone Heart Sword did not expect that he couldn’t even break the witch’s Protective Magic Artifact and was instead severely injured by the rebound force.
He looked towards the witch He Tianhe; both their movements were nearly a blur, swift enough to create successive afterimages and illusions. For a moment, it appeared as if they each had countless hands and swords.
Kong Yuhui guarded Cheng Ruofei, cautiously retreating behind a stone column, both tense, surrounded by several fellow Innate disciples.
"Kong Brother, we must find a chance to retreat from here quickly! We can’t even assist between Tianhe Brother and the Red Attic Witch. Those silver-haired horse-men aren’t something we can handle either."
These Innates were also close to Peacock Sect, high-class warriors from nearby families, and were part of Kong Yuhui’s network.
Kong Yuhui exhaled, looking around, several Innates including himself among the top experts of Tingjian Valley in the sect, yet in such a situation, they didn’t even qualify to help.
"The path out has been temporarily blocked by the witch, and clearing the passage will take time, we should gather more people to help," he said gravely.
"Indeed, the Crow Water is not that easy to obtain," Cheng Ruofei was also bereft of her usual composure, her face and body dirtied, and ashy.
"We were too greedy. We thought that with our combined strength, no matter how bad the situation, we would still have the strength to fight one battle. We should have met up with Brother Lin first..." Kong Yuhui had not finished speaking when a loud booming sound came from mid-air.
Everyone looked up only to see He Tianhe and the Red Tower Witch colliding fiercely in mid-air, white and red, their halos tearing off and rushing toward heaven. Both their claws and Talisman Swords were thrown from their hands, crashing into the cave’s ceiling.
Instantly, amid the booming sound, a large stalactite was shattered, its ten-meter diameter like a giant spike, plummeting straight down toward them.
With a loud crash,
Massive rocks and flying sand burst open, like an explosion.
The Innate disciples quickly backed away, and the horsemen were interrupted in their battle. One silver-haired horseman, tangled with Keke Ha’er, could not dodge in time and was heavily struck, his body shooting like a cannonball into Keke Ha’er. Both spewed blood as they hit a stone pillar and rolled onto the ground.
Some disciples who did not get far enough away were hit by the flying rocks and badly injured on the ground; several unlucky ones were struck on the head and died instantly.
"Let’s go!" Kong Yuhui took a while to recover, still feeling his ears buzzing, and quickly pulled Cheng Ruofei and others toward the blocked passage.
An entrance was already being opened by other Innates at the blockage.
Kong Yuhui and the others helped, taking turns using their Sword Techniques to strike harshly at the breach. The effect was minimal, and instead, several Longswords were broken.
"Quick, duck!"
Suddenly, a fierce roar came from a distance.
Before Kong Yuhui and the others could react, they saw a red light rushing towards them at high speed.
The silhouette of the Red Tower Witch was intermittently visible within the red light.
"You won’t escape!" He Tianhe’s voice caught up from behind.
The red and white lights fiercely collided one after another at the passage breach, blasting it open into a large hole, which they quickly entered and disappeared from sight.
Roar!
The golden-haired horseman let out a fierce roar, knocking Wu Lianda aside and galloping towards them.
"Run back!" Kong Yuhui was startled, pulling the people around him and running to a distant place.
Boom!
The golden-haired horseman forcefully smashed through the narrow breach, only as wide as a person, and chased after He Tianhe and the other in the blue-lighted passage.
***************
The shaking ended.
Lin Xin steadied his form, feeling something amiss, and quickly turned back, having enough fragments. He only needed to return safely to the ground to consider this trial completely fulfilled.
He didn’t want to take anything more, and it was unlikely he could even if he wanted.
Thinking this, he increased his speed, running swiftly back along the passage he had come through.
The blue passage rapidly moved past before his eyes as Lin Xin sprinted, tightly gripping the handle of the Solar Yang Talisman Sword, constantly wary of his surroundings.
Hiss!
A blue worm shot out from a dark hole in the stone wall, lunging towards his face.
Lin Xin swung his sword blade, piercing the worm accurately. Unflustered, he continued on his way back.
After sheathing his sword, he suddenly felt a strange movement inside his bag. Reaching in, he paused slightly—it was one of those five mysterious metal blocks he had acquired earlier which was now oddly emitting a faint chill.
"It’s not a chill," Lin Xin took out the block, finding its surface unchanged, looking just as it had before.
As he held the metal block, unsure what was happening, the unexpected image of Song Jing’s face filled with surprise and reluctance before his death vividly appeared before his eyes, as if a vision was emerging in front of him.
"What’s going on?" Lin Xin was somewhat unsettled, "Now that my Inner Qi has entered the Innate and stabilized all my Qi-Blood, there shouldn’t be any visions or uncontrollable Qi-Blood!"
He thought for a moment, then paused and put the metal block back into his bag.
Strangely, the moment his hand left the metal block, the visions in his mind and before his eyes dissipated.
Lin Xin had a vague feeling that there was something amiss with this metal block.
He took the block out again, and immediately the vision of Song Jing’s face at the moment of his death reappeared.
But observing carefully, he was somewhat amazed to find that the vision actually extended from a pale red attributes bar below his field of vision.
"Could it be..." A speculation flashed through Lin Xin’s mind.
