Chapter 783: Chapter 778: Pursuit II

Sun Soul Mountain.

In the white sky, five glaring suns hung high, casting scorching sunlight. The ground cracked, and the air was dry. The entire small world was void of any green.

Only on the yellow, cracked earth, a few burning black trees occasionally stood tall.

The leaves of these black trees were clusters of burning flames, growing wildly and continuously emitting bursts of black smoke.

The entire world of Sun Soul Mountain was extremely vast, equivalent to one-fifth of the mortal realm.

But the areas suitable for human habitation were very few.

All the habitable areas here were underground. Since it was not within the Heavenly Alliance Defense Line, the Void spirits had also invaded this place, engaging in fierce battles with the Soul Sect cultivators and their servants.

At this moment, above a large crack in the ground, a large group of Void spirits surrounded a small group of Soul Sect cultivators.

Among them, a red dragon-headed man wielding a serrated blade was cutting down a Soul Sect blood corpse soldier with each swing.

These blood corpse soldiers looked no different from normal humans, except they were impervious to blades and bullets, with extremely high hardness.

But under the dragon-headed man’s blade, the so-called imperviousness was a joke.

Blood flowers exploded one after another, and the blood corpse soldiers were torn apart.

"Hahahaha!! Kill!!"

The dragon-headed man, who had already developed some intelligence, laughed wildly toward the sky.

"When will the reinforcements arrive!?"

The leading elder in green robes from the Soul Sect shouted sternly.

"They said they are on the way. We need to hold on for ten more minutes! Just ten minutes!"

A young man on the other side shouted, sending a palm of lightning to drive off an elephant-nosed man. His face was pale, and he was panting heavily, clearly on the brink of collapse.

"Three more minutes! If they don’t come, we’ll retreat!" The elder yelled, bravely facing the dragon-headed man. The two immediately engaged in a fierce battle, with lightning and flames exploding, and various Taoist arts and the Void spirits’ bizarre moves clashing continuously.

The other cultivators were not as fortunate. The blood corpses they had refined were besieged by far more numerous Void spirits. They were surrounded on all sides, barely holding on.

Whoosh!

At this moment, a red figure suddenly shot from the distant sky.

It was a handsome man in an exquisite red robe, his face pale, black hair draped over his shoulders.

The newcomer was Lin Xin. He found the flying battleship too slow, so he left it behind and headed directly to the Sun Soul Mountain area, following the instructions of the array spirit.

Previously, Lin Xin had killed a group of Soul Sect people, and he didn’t have a good relationship with Green Lake Mountain either. Therefore, he preferred to operate alone for more flexibility and to avoid being ambushed.

To be honest, Green Lake Mountain didn’t seem to have good relations with any sects.

Flying above this area, Lin Xin quickly spotted the Soul Sect’s emblem.

His brows furrowed. He didn’t want to have too much contact with the Soul Sect here.

However, to find clues, these Void spirits were of no use. He still needed humans.

With a flick of his finger, a large swath of red Sword Qi shot from his hand, sweeping towards the Void spirits below.

Sss! Sss! Sss!

One by one, small Void spirits, elephant-nosed men, and wolf-headed men were pierced by the red Sword Qi, exploding and dying instantly.

In a few blinks, the hundreds of Void spirits below were all slaughtered, leaving only the dragon-headed man still fighting the Soul Sect elder.

The dragon-headed man sensed something was wrong and tried to escape.

Thud!

An invisible force exploded inside him.

The dragon-headed man was torn in half, his upper body flying out and landing on the ground, quickly dissolving into a pool of goo.

The Soul Sect cultivators finally sighed in relief.

"Thank you, senior, for saving us!"

The elder and the others bowed toward Lin Xin.

"Have you seen this person?" Lin Xin waved his hand, projecting a light screen displaying Lin Yaoyang’s image.

At Lin Xin’s realm, his control over the Heaven and Earth’s Elemental Energy was terrifyingly powerful. Low-rank Taoist arts could be formed with a mere thought.

The elder and others focused and showed a look of recollection.

"Senior, not long ago, a group of Shadow City experts, mixed with Void spirits, seemed to be escorting this woman towards Nine Clouds City." The elder quickly answered.

"Nine Clouds City? Which direction?" Lin Xin’s heart leaped with joy, finally finding a clue.

"To the northwest, but be careful, senior. Nine Clouds City has a large army of millions of Void spirits, and it is..." The elder’s words were not finished when he saw a flash of red light, and the red-robed senior had disappeared.

He was instantly shocked.

Despite his Human Immortal realm, he couldn’t see any trace of the senior’s movements.

"Nine Clouds City is guarded by millions of Void spirits and hidden dangers! Going alone might be risky!" Another cultivator expressed concern.

"It’s none of our business. The high-ranking experts have their own plans. Report the information quickly, and let the higher-ups handle it." The elder scolded, though he felt a bit uneasy.

*********************

Sun Soul Mountain, Nine Clouds City.

A vast number of Void spirits surrounded a giant square city.

There were pitch-black small Void spirits, the tall elephant-nosed men, and the wolf-headed men with black fur.

And massive fanged earth dragon beasts, like giant worms, coiled within the army.

Dozens of dragon-headed men floated around, commanding the spirits.

The city center was littered with debris and remains, with only the highest white tower completely intact.

At the top floor of the tower.

Lin Yaoyang was immobilized, seated before a large table of wine, her face cold.

Two people sat by the table.

One was a five-meter-tall figure with bone spurs on his back, horns on his head, looking like a minotaur.

He was clad in crude, spiked armor, covered with black and gray spikes, making him look extremely fierce and savage.

On the other side sat an elegant youth, with a gentle demeanor, as refined as jade, his handsome and clean face always carrying a slight smile, giving off a warm spring breeze feeling.

This was the most sinister and cunning of the few Heavenly Venerables in Shadow City - Venerable Shouru.

This time, it was he who personally planned and executed the abduction of Lin Yaoyang to lure Lin Xin away from the Green Lake Mountain area.

"Venerable Shouru, you didn’t come just to have a drink with me, did you?"

The spiked minotaur spoke, poisonous black mist escaping his mouth with each word.

"To ensure nothing goes wrong, I came personally to handle the situation." Venerable Shouru smiled.

"We have millions of Heavenly Demon soldiers, dozens of Immortal-level Blood Descendants, and the Bone-spurred King personally leading, combining our powers. Even an Earth Immortal would die, let alone a newly ascended one!"

The Bone-spurred King expressed dissatisfaction.

"That’s not certain." Venerable Shouru smiled. "After all, he is the only Saint Heir of the Chanting Star Cult, who might have unexpected variables."

"Xing Pengfei underestimated his opponent. If he had gone all out from the start, there wouldn’t have been so much trouble later."

The Bone-spurred King shook his head disdainfully.

"If I encounter him, I will give my all to obliterate him!"

"We look forward to your outstanding performance, your majesty." Venerable Shouru smiled.

One of Green Lake Mountain’s lives had been determined, and it was Lin Xin. So, he personally kidnapped Lin Yaoyang to lure Lin Xin out of the Green Lake Mountain area.

Once out of the Star Domain, external forces would be far stronger. Killing one Earth Immortal would be a piece of cake.

To achieve the goal, dignity and pride were things to be discarded.

Venerable Shouru clinked his glass with the Bone-spurred King’s.

They drank.

The wine was a terrifying poison brewed from tens of thousands of different toxins.

Only they, non-human entities, could use it as a drink. A drop could poison countless powerful creatures.

"You won’t succeed." Lin Yaoyang coldly said. "Before my brother arrives, I will die!"

"Hahahaha!" Venerable Shouru laughed.

The Bone-spurred King laughed too.

"Sometimes, the same thing can be resolved more easily with different methods." Venerable Shouru tapped the table.

"Blame your brother..." He stopped mid-sentence, sensing something.

He stood slowly, looking out from the tower.

Across the countless human corpses strung together, outside the giant city, a blinding red light quickly approached.

"Here he comes!"

Venerable Shouru smiled, putting his hand on Lin Yaoyang’s shoulder.

"Take it from here, your majesty."

The Bone-spurred King discarded his wine glass and looked up.

In the white sky, a red figure soon appeared, hovering above Nine Clouds City, transforming into a handsome man in a red robe.

The man’s robe fluttered in the wind, standing with hands behind his back, unmoved.

Even seeing Lin Yaoyang in Venerable Shouru’s grip, he barely raised an eyebrow.

"Our first meeting, Realm Master of the Dragon Serpent Realm, Brother Lieshan." Venerable Shouru smiled.

Lin Yaoyang struggled to shatter her heart meridian, but was unable to move.

"Shadow City?" Lin Xin floated, coldly looking at Shouru. "Do you know what you’re doing?"

"To save your sister, defeat the Bone-spurred King first."

Venerable Shouru laughed, unconcerned.

"Defeat?" Lin Xin frowned, eyes turning cold.

"Hand over the hostage within three breaths. Or else..."
