Chapter 774 - 769 - Fame Part One
Chapter 774: 769 Chapter Fame Part One
"Go!"
Far away, the Black-robed Celestial Venerable waved his hand, casting a white light that enveloped himself and his people, and the Teleportation Array Plate was activated immediately.
He hadn’t expected the tide of battle to turn so swiftly.
The Shadow Demon Great Sage actually lost!
This was simply inconceivable!
Yet it had unfolded right before his very eyes. Didn’t this indicate that Lieshan’s strength was already on par with that of the Great Saint level?!
"We must report back to the City Lord as soon as possible."
He, along with several Earth Immortals, had not engaged in battle from start to finish and had found even the aftermath difficult to withstand.
Yet, he hadn’t expected this outcome.
Initially, the Shadow Demon Great Sage Xing Pengfei had only come out of seclusion to specifically target Jiu Se Divine Lord Yin Chuan, but he never expected to be defeated by Lin Xin, the Master of the Dragon Serpent Realm.
Just as the Teleportation Array Plate was activated, the Black-robed Celestial Venerable felt his heart tighten, and an intense sense of impending doom suddenly arose from behind him.
"Quick!!" he growled.
The Purple Light Treasure Bead he had clutched in his hand shattered ferociously, transforming into a purple ring that encircled and protected his entire body.
Hiss!
Unbeknownst to him, a light pink sword light lightly landed on the back of his neck, slicing through the purple ring in silence and swiftly circling his throat.
Crack.
The head of the Black-robed Celestial Venerable was effortlessly severed.
"Venerable!!"
The other Earth Immortals cried out in anger and grief, attacking together.
Two streaks of golden light, filled with the roars of countless beasts, charged toward Lin Xin. A jade butterfly spun out, emanating the power of a Realm Artifact, heading straight for Lin Xin.
Unexpectedly, the sword light gently swirled, touching the golden light and the jade butterfly in succession.
Everything instantly disintegrated and shattered, the golden light exploding and the jade butterfly fading away.
The pink sword light once again made a gentle turn.
Instantly, several Earth Immortals were sliced into countless chunks as easily as tofu by Lin Xin.
Lin Xin held the Sword of Joy tightly with both hands, attempting to maintain control over it. However, a terrifying, invisible force was trying to wrest the blade away from his grasp.
"Grant equal Ultimate Bliss to all beings!!!"
The white smile on the sword’s blade screamed as if covered by a white cloth, bulging outward as though it wanted to break free from the sword.
"Something’s wrong! This is no longer the Magic Sword I can condense on my own!"
Lin Xin sensed a warning in his heart; the Sword of Joy had developed a sinister nature.
It was actually attempting to break free from his control as the master.
Suspended in midair, Lin Xin struggled to suppress it with his spiritual control while waiting for the borrowed power to slowly dissipate.
The power he borrowed from Xing Pengfei could last at most half an hour, that is, an hour.
Half an hour had never felt so long.
"Death is Ultimate Bliss!! Ultimate Bliss is eternity!!! Ha ha ha ha!!"
The Sword of Joy had absorbed too much power and had become somewhat eerie and mysterious.
"Damn!!"
Lin Xin’s eyes suddenly turned into white light, and the vast Purifying Force within his body surged into the blade of the Sword of Joy.
The trembling blade swiftly calmed down, clearly affected by the Purifying Force.
After more than ten minutes, as the power gradually faded, Lin Xin finally managed to fully suppress the white smile on the blade.
"Hu..."
He let out a long breath and looked around at the chaotic landscape of the Snow Mountain plains.
Most of the Snow Mountain had been sheared off, and within a thousand miles around, all living beings were either shaken to death or had fled far away, not daring to come close.
The battle at the Heavenly Venerable level was too horrifying; this was only an incarnation. If the two true Celestial Venerables went all out in battle, with countless incarnations joining in...
That scene could destroy heaven and earth; such a small world could be shattered in a breath as a matter of routine.
"This Supreme Jiuyue Divine Wind Sword... is a bit sinister..."
Lin Xin stroked the sword’s blade with a frown.
Having absorbed too much power, it had even become uncontrollable towards the end.
"Moreover, to allow me, an Earth Immortal from the Origin Earth Realm, to reach the battle power of a Celestial Venerable level... This is just the Sword of Joy crafted through ritual. There are still so many other blades to follow... No wonder it is known as one of the top sword techniques of Green Lake Mountain..."
He slowly sheathed the Sword of Joy and reflected carefully on this latest encounter.
This time, being hunted by Shadow City, he borrowed the power of the Sword of Joy, absorbed Xing Pengfei’s power, and easily resolved an incarnation of a Celestial Venerable and several Earth Immortal incarnations.
Although he couldn’t kill them, it dealt Shadow City a significant blow, especially disrupting an important link in their plans.
This was also his first time employing this sword technique against enemies, and he hadn’t anticipated its terrifying power.
"Just a single sword technique, yet mastering it yields such a terrifying effect. If the Earthfire Nine Spirit Beads could be used in conjunction with it..."
He couldn’t help but feel some anticipation.
The Earthfire Nine Spirit Beads had advanced to become an Abyssal Realm Artifact, a terrifying magical weapon capable of destroying an entire realm. He was only restrained by his insufficient mana, so he couldn’t unleash the full might of the Abyssal Realm Artifact.
But with the temporarily borrowed power of the Sword of Joy, things would be different...
"If I first use the Sword of Joy to borrow power, accumulate, and then suddenly burst forth with the Earthfire Nine Spirit Beads..."
Lin Xin remembered the scene where the Celestial Venerable incarnation had no chance to react before his head was cleaved off by him.
That was actually borrowing the strength of Xing Pengfei.
"Although I have also killed a Heavenly Venerable incarnation before, that one was much stronger than this black-robed one.
But this time I didn’t have the Ghost Realm Formation to assist me, nor did I use the Earthfire Nine Spirit Beads, the Abyssal Realm Artifact.
The Joyous Sword combined with my attribute enhancement, was actually able to exert an effect that was dozens of times stronger than the sword technique, truly terrifying!!"
"Never mind, let’s leave this place first."
He looked around. The golden fissure that had been opened, along with other Heavenly Realm fissures, had begun to automatically heal and restore.
Numerous pieces of space debris had sparked small-scale spatial storms, enveloping everything into the black winds.
The three from Bi Luo had previously been carefully hiding behind a huge boulder, struggling to resist the ravages of the spatial storm.
"What kind of rat dares to cause chaos in the territory of my Four Seas Fairy Mountains!!"
Suddenly, a grand voice came from afar, and the spatial storm was quickly suppressed.
Countless pale blue star forces descended from the heavens, turning into pillars of light, and out of them came three gray-feathered elders with white hair.
The expressions of the three elders were as somber as still water, and the one in front radiated bursts of Primordial Spirit Holy Light, with a hint of anger flickering in his eyes.
"A seasoned Heavenly Venerable!?"
Lin Xin felt a chill in his heart, his spiritual senses quickly rising with a trace of warning and threat.
The arrivals had managed to suppress the spatial storm with their voice alone, evidently they were top-tier Heavenly Venerables above the Origin Earth Realm.
He glanced over, and the Primordial Spirit Holy Light on the other party gave him an impression even more terrifying than that of Xing Pengfei.
As soon as the three landed, they immediately focused their gaze on him.
"Hmm!?"
The leading Heavenly Venerable saw Lin Xin, seemed to recognize him, and his expression changed slightly.
He fell silent, his expression changed several times, turning from green to white and back again, taking several breaths before he barely returned to normal, even managing to squeeze out a smile.
"So it is the esteemed nephew of Lieshan Lin here. I was unaware, please forgive the oversight, forgive me!"
The Chanting Star Cult had just issued a notification to all Heavenly Venerables and Heavenly Immortals, declaring Lin Xin as the first Saint Heir of the cult, protected by the Chanting Star God’s Divine Light.
If it were another expert from Green Lake Mountain, he might not have been so courteous, but with the background of Green Lake Mountain plus the Chanting Star Cult... even if he was holding in a great deal of anger over the secret treasure, at this moment he still had to forcibly swallow it.
"So it is the Heavenly Venerable of the Four Seas Fairy Mountains who has arrived." Lin Xin respectfully performed a fist and palm salute, as a matter of etiquette, although his heart wondered why the other party was being so polite to him.
He still underestimated the power of the first Saint Heir of the Chanting Star Cult.
As a top-tier Heretical Cult spanning the Myriad Realms, only slightly weaker than Green Lake Mountain, the Chanting Star Cult’s strength was mysterious and unfathomable, with members scattered everywhere, impossible to track or defend against.
More dreadful even than the Soul Sect.
Although this place was remote, who knew whether any of the Chanting Star Cult’s mysterious agents were guarding Lin Xin’s side?
No one could be sure of that.
As the Saint Heir of such a major cult, his identity and status were like those of the Jiu Se Divine Lord Yin Chuan in Green Lake Mountain. He was the foremost among his peers!
"Since the esteemed nephew of Lieshan Lin is here, we are not outsiders." the Heavenly Venerable’s expression changed as he continued. "To be honest, I have come here in my incarnation because there is a secret treasure."
"A secret treasure?" Lin Xin was surprised. To think that the other side would be willing to share such information with him so directly.
"Indeed, the Azure Sky Secret Treasure." The Heavenly Venerable nodded, "Since the esteemed nephew also came here by chance, it can be considered fate. I and the other two Daoists happen to plan to explore the secret treasure together, would you be willing to join us?"
He was treating Lin Xin completely on equal terms.
By now, the power Lin Xin had absorbed had completely dissipated, and he was just at the ordinary level of an Origin Earth Immortal.
This Heavenly Venerable was willing to treat him as an equal, solely because of his identity and status.
A Heavenly Venerable, treating an Earth Immortal as an equal—such a thing, if spread, would itself be astonishing. But to this Heavenly Venerable, it seemed only natural.
Chit!
Chit!!
Lin Xin, puzzled in his heart, was about to speak when, not far to his side, two more blue streaks of starlight fell, and out of the pillars of light emerged two more figures, one old and one young.
The old one had white hair and a hunchback, dressed in gray hemp cloth, leaning on a dragon-headed cane to which a dusty little gourd was attached.
The young one was a girl with an innocent and romantic demeanor, a sweet smile on her jade-like little face.
Less than a meter tall, she was dressed in a silver short top and skirt, but underneath the skirt were not legs but two snow-white goat hooves.
"Daoist Zhang, we came over immediately upon hearing the disturbance."
The gourd-bearing elder frowned and said.
"Who is this?"
He looked at Lin Xin somewhat dissatisfiedly, then surveyed the devastated landscape around them.
"Daoist Lin, Daoist Ximen, this is Daoist Lieshan Lin of Green Lake Mountain." The Heavenly Venerable of the Four Seas Fairy Mountains introduced with a smile.
An Earth Immortal?
Lieshan Lin!?
At the mention of the name, for a fleeting moment.
The gourd-bearing elder and the silver-clad girl both showed a slight change in expression, quickly adjusting their demeanor.
The girl chuckled lightly.
"So it’s Daoist Lieshan Lin of the Dragon Serpent Realm. How has Lord Kun Peng of the Chanting Star Cult been? It’s been several thousand years since I last saw his holy visage."
Kun Peng of the Chanting Star Cult?
Lin Xin had no idea who that was and didn’t know how to respond.
"The two venerable seniors are gracious, but I’m just an Earth Immortal and not in a position to be called a peer by the two of you."
