Chapter 682: Chapter 677 Taoist Seed One

Lin Xin’s mind stirred, following some techniques and methods recorded in the Green Yuan Decision.

His consciousness wove inscriptions of varying sizes into a circle of dark red halos that materialized at the core of the wasteland.

"Begin absorbing the impurities of the void."

The entire plane trembled instantly, slowly capturing the flying impurities that streaked through the void, forming new wasteland soil.

This was one of two slow methods to gradually expand the Land for God Worship, only that it required a longer period.

The other method for rapid expansion involved evolution.

The path of an Earth Immortal was to transform ordinary soil into the highest grade of divine soil, the Holy Land.

And Lin Xin’s goal at this moment was to elevate this piece of wasteland into the so-called Immortal Land, stepping into the first level of the Dust Condensation Realm.

The method to promote land to Immortal Land was simple: just needed enough creatures born of this land to cultivate and evolve into Human Immortals.

Of course, such creatures did not include spirit-impoverished beings like the Talisman Soldiers.

Hence, nearly every Earth Immortal sat as a prominent overlord, commanding vast forces—for behind each of their achievements was the support of numerous Human Immortals.

Thus, Lin Xin first needed to expand his territory to provide sufficient security, necessities of life, and a suitable environment to attract creatures from the outside world to settle; those who were born thereafter were the generation he truly needed to nurture.

However, looking at the strange blood soil here, he too felt somewhat helpless—the environment would need rapid improvement, or he feared no one would wish to settle here.

"Forget it, let’s first transform the Talisman Soldiers and see to what level they can evolve."

Lin Xin didn’t want to overthink for the time being. Right now, it was crucial to enhance the wasteland; as for attracting living beings, there would always be a way in the future. If all else failed, he might have to resort to purchasing slaves.

In the depths of the void.

Little by little, blue starlight twinkled, brightening and dimming in an endless cycle, silent and breathless.

A colossal black monster, large enough to span leagues, vibrated its wings slowly, gliding through the void.

The creature resembled a whale and yet a sea lion, with an enormous white eye growing on its back.

Along its sides were rows of finely perforated vents, resembling a honeycomb, from which swarms of minor void demon spirits buzzed in and out.

Some black creatures, resembling octopuses and with blue Crystal Stones embedded in their middles, clung to the edges of these vents, occasionally breaking off and moving with the demon spirits.

Suddenly, the void shuddered slightly as an inexplicable invisible ripple propagated through the air.

"A Human Race cultivator’s presence has been detected in the isolation zone. Exterminate it,"

A mental wave conveyed this message into the massive monster’s body.

The giant creature trembled slightly and turned, slipping in a new direction and moving forward.

Atop the beast emerged two Demon Generals, exuding a Fifth Rank demonic power, sitting cross-legged.

Though they both were oversized versions of the minor void demon spirits, one of them—sitting more to the front—had grown a thick horn resembling that of a bull, extending backward and looking incredibly tough.

"Strange... this is the buffer zone between the two sides, all wasteland. What could draw anyone to wander here?"

His voice was slow, as if he had difficulty with intelligence development, speaking laboriously, one word at a time.

"Shijia, what do you think?"

The horned Demon General looked back at its fellow Fifth Rank companion; however, the latter had clearly much lower intelligence, giggling foolishly with his mouth, holding a human thigh bone in his hands, and gnawing at it greedily.

"Sigh..." The horned Demon General let out a helpless sigh.

Ever since its wisdom emerged, everything had become more and more dull. There were no entities around with which it could communicate.

Yet, it could not disobey the orders from the Heavenly Demon Army Master and could only patrol here with the army alone.

Most of these void demon spirits were disordered; the fact that he had managed to gather so many was already a limit. Any more might incite rebellion—as the void demon spirits were regarded by the Generals as uncultivated beasts, trainable but not fully controllable.

It took out the accompanying Black Que Bead, from which surged a continuous flow of pure demonic power, enveloping its entire body as if soaking in a cool spring, extremely comfortable.

This was key to awakening its spirit and also a cherished treasure bestowed from above.

"Shijia, have the other Demon Generals ready themselves."

The other Fifth Rank General nodded slightly, soared into the air, and swept downward.

Within this army of demon spirits were two Fifth Rank peak Demon Generals, on the verge of evolving to the Sixth Rank, plus over a dozen mid to low-level Fifth Rank Generals. Aside from the minor void demon spirits, there was also the second species group, the elephant-nosed humans.

Taking care of the detected Fifth Rank aura cultivator was merely child’s play.

Delivering a crushing blow to those daring humans who stepped out of their protected territories was the horned General’s favorite pastime.

It pinched the Black Que Bead, tucking it close under its scales for safekeeping.

Embedded within the bead was a mark granted by an Asura of the void, guiding it on the correct path.

Thanks to this bead, among the cultivators it had slaughtered, there was even a grievously wounded Earth Immortal.

"Soon... very soon... I will evolve to the Sixth Rank... I can feel it."

Lin Xin stood in front of the small mountain dwelling of the Mountain Spirit dwarfs, labeled Little Spirit Mountain, which had temporarily ceased working. Lin Xin was intently sensing and adjusting the size of each soul force entity produced when differentiating soul power within.

After smoothly doubling the size of the Soul Spheres, he turned to the building for Earthbound Spirits, proceeding to do the same.

Next was the Tree Demon’s place.

All three had changed the size of the split soul spheres before he restarted the process.

The spell weapons he had previously created were all assigned and sent out to patrol the surrounding void.

Without gravity in the void, similar to space, the deployed spell weapons could move freely, except for the Mountain Spirit dwarfs who continued to construct buildings.

Soon after a short wait, there was a faint stir near the small spirit mountain.

Lin Xin walked over and observed quietly.

In no time, with a snap, a little Mountain Spirit dwarf with eyes clearly showing a hint of liveliness stepped out.

"Greetings, Master," it said.

The creature approached Lin Xin and gave him a slight bow.

"Come closer."

Lin Xin gestured for it to come nearer.

The dwarf complied, allowing Lin Xin to place his hand on its head.

Hum...

A faint white light shone from Lin Xin, transferring to the dwarf.

The Mountain Spirit dwarf was startled at first but then obviously began to redden and swell.

As the white light continued to extend, its entire skin began to melt. When it had swelled to half Lin Xin’s height, in just a short time, it had completely transformed, its skin and muscles gradually dripping off, melting into a liquid—a kind of yellowish-brown viscous liquid.

After a few minutes, Lin Xin kept transferring attribute points, and the dwarf in front of him finally completely dissolved.

Not just a dissolving of the skin and muscles, but the whole being melted away, turning into a puddle of mud.

"This...." Lin Xin was somewhat caught by surprise.

However, the scene that immediately followed made his heart flutter slightly.

The dark red mud gradually reformed on its own, and within a few minutes, it had reconstituted into a human shape.

But this time what formed was completely an Earth Being, with no facial features, no skin, no muscles, hardly different from a crudely fashioned mud doll.

"The Earth Spirit has seen the Master," it said.

A hollow, resonant voice echoed in Lin Xin’s mind.

"Earth Spirit?"

Lin Xin quickly flipped through the guidebook to check.

’Earth Spirit, Second Rank spell weapon, a pure elemental energy being that manipulates mud.’

There was only a brief introduction above, showing that the guidebook was not very clear about this kind of evolution.

Lin Xin furrowed his brows and began to look over the proper evolutionary path of the Mountain Spirit dwarf.

’King of the Mountain Spirit Dwarfs, Second Rank spell weapon, possesses formidable warrior skills and tough skin, and can harden its entire body to significantly enhance resistance to spell methods and common attacks.’

"Let’s see if it can evolve further."

Lin Xin calculated that he had intermittently transferred over two hundred attribute points just now.

He once again extended his hand and placed it on the Earth Spirit’s chest.

The white light flickered, soon enveloping the entire Earth Spirit.

A few minutes later, hundreds more attribute points were transferred.

The Earth Spirit grew taller and larger, the color of the mud on its body darkening to black, and fine bits of mud and pebbles began to revolve around it as if controlled by an invisible force field.

’Elder Earth Spirit: Third Rank spell weapon, a pure elemental energy being that manipulates rocks and mud. It belongs to many tribes in the realm of the earth, strength unknown.’

The information in the guidebook was similarly brief.

After reaching the level of an Elder Earth Spirit, it was now two Lin Xins tall, with a vastly more robust body. Its whole body was dark, looking much sturdier.

"Thank you, Master, for granting me strength," it said with a bow.

"It seems it can still evolve." Lin Xin looked at the Elder Earth Spirit in front of him with some astonished doubt. This First Rank Mountain Spirit dwarf had far exceeded the potential of the spell weapons he had acquired before, evolving to the Third Rank and yet appeared capable of further progression.

After hesitating, he once again extended his hand and placed it on the other’s thigh.

The white light reappeared.

This time, countless yellowish-brown elemental energies materialized in the void around them, both tangible and intangible, all densely packed and carrying mysterious trajectories, emerging like smoke from all directions and flocking into the Elder Earth Spirit’s body.

Lin Xin even saw some of the elemental energies spontaneously transforming into mysterious symbols, as if alive.

Some of the energies carried an extreme evil qi, others were particularly caustic, along with energies that were burning hot, freezing cold, and some with a barely perceptible presence.

In addition, many refined forces with lost marks were also absorbed and drawn in by the Elder Earth Spirit and ingested into its body.

Lost marks refer to the countless once-mighty beings that had existed in the void, leaving behind remnants of their imprinted strength.

Some of them have disappeared, some have fallen, but the will imprinted remains like a brand still drifting in the void.

Their powers, too, wander with these brand imprints, weakening over time.

But there are exceptions, some extremely formidable beings whose imprints, even after tens of thousands of years, may not weaken much at all.
