Eternal Swordmaster -
Chapter 678 - 673: Offering Sacrifices to the God 1
Chapter 678: Chapter 673: Offering Sacrifices to the God 1
"Transdimensional Visage?"
Lin Xin swept through the information that entered his mind, his expression instantly turning somewhat strange.
’Qilamask: A failed creation by the gods in their pursuit of the primordial, capable of traversing worlds and crossing spatial barriers. Able to travel between different realms.’
"It’s actually not an offensive or defensive type of Ancient Divine Artifact?" Lin Xin felt vaguely disappointed in his heart, but the ability to traverse worlds was undeniably powerful.
If it could be applied over long-distance worlds, then the scope of this mask’s utility would be quite vast.
He carefully examined the Qilamask, sensing indistinctly that the lower half of the mask seemed ethereal as if it didn’t exist within this space.
"If it could be used in conjunction with my Door of Mystique...."
Lin Xin narrowed his eyes slightly.
His Door of Mystique had been stored in this stone house because there was no Burning Furnace to serve as its energy source, and the territory on the other side was too close to the Qing Shan Realm, so he dared not go back, which meant he hadn’t had a chance to use it.
After pondering for a while, he carefully stored the mask away for future use.
"I should still go to Feng Huai first to get the Formation Talisman Technique scriptures and pick up his little niece...."
This time, he was nearly tricked by Lu Qiaoqiao and another, suffering severe injuries, which could be said to have resulted from a lack of magical artifacts.
Although he didn’t have a trump card like an Ancient Divine Artifact Fragment or the Karmic Technique to overdraft himself against attacks, the defensive magical artifacts strengthened by his attribute points could be used as a one-time Ancient Divine Artifact level. They were extremely cost-effective.
In the time that followed, he decided to stay put and directly approached Feng Huai in the Dragon Serpent Realm to get the scriptures, and along with them, he also picked up Feng Huai’s little illegitimate daughter, a tad over a year old, entrusting her to a maid of the Deep Fire Palace for care.
Then Lin Xin replied to a letter and Jade Talisman to his sister, Lin Yaoyang, before diving headlong into the ocean of Formation Talisman Technique scriptures.
The Formation Talisman Technique of the Mortal Realm was vast and profound, with its depth and breadth far surpassing that of the Underworld system. Just categorizing them resulted in over a hundred types, each type having dozens of subcategories, and each subcategory specialized in different Formation Talismans.
For example, the Earth Fire category of Formation Talismans had countless types and variants researched by cultivators. Each type had established hundreds to thousands of various Talisman Techniques which could be freely combined into numerous formations.
The crystallization of knowledge developed over tens of thousands of years in the Mortal Realm was evident just in the Refinement of Magical Artifacts.
To study the art of Formation Talismans required mastery of at least sixty-eight different ancient languages, many of which involved tonal mimicking that the human throat couldn’t normally produce. These intonations needed to be simulated with mana.
The scripture of Formation Talisman Technique prepared by Feng Huai for Lin Xin could be described as all-encompassing and invaluable, likely representing his own family’s inheritance teaching materials.
This scripture would be considered immensely valuable anywhere.
Lin Xin mentally noted this favor.
Fittingly, the Realm Master of the Dragon Serpent Realm was also a master expert in Artifact Refining, so Lin Xin would often visit the Deep Fire Palace when he had free time, learning different language variants from his Honored Master.
With his background in the Formation Talisman Technique of the Underworld, Lin Xin progressed quickly.
He did not attempt to master everything, but chose a branch that was most suitable for refining— the Fire System branch of Formation Talismans.
After about six years, he had roughly mastered all of the Runes of the Fire System Formation Talismans and was able to use them easily, reaching a basic level of proficiency.
During these six years, his Green Yuan Decision had continued to edge closer and closer to Great Perfection.
This transitional process was expected to take at least several decades.
Lin Xin knew that it was time to prepare for becoming an Earth Immortal, and finding a suitable Land for God Worship was imminent.

Deep Fire Palace
"The Land for God Worship is valuable for preserving divinity."
The Dragon Serpent sat on the throne, softly guiding Lin Xin, who had come seeking advice.
"Yaoyang, your cultivation of Formation Talisman Sword Dao requires seeking a place that aligns with your will to preserve your spirit."
"A place that aligns with my own will?"
Lin Xin furrowed his brows.
"Indeed," Oro added from the side, "My place for preserving spirit is the Dragon Serpent Realm because it resonates best with my innate Fire Source Soul. Also, this is where I’m least repulsed."
"Nature will willingly meld with the place best suited for you as the Land for God Worship. For the earth, we are like the yang, while it is the yin. Normally, the place of your birth is most suited to preserve your spirit. Perhaps you should check out the Qiushi Region."
The Dragon Serpent explained.
"A good Land for God Worship can make the subsequent journey much easier. Yaoyang, you must pick carefully."
"Disciple understands."
Lin Xin was aware that the quality of the Land for God Worship would affect the level he could attain as an Earth Immortal.
Earth Immortal, becoming an immortal through the earth—if one could not elevate the land of their spirit offering into Immortal Land, then the ascension to Earth Immortal would fail.
Using the earth to become an immortal and achieving a brand-new Immortal Foundation completely of one’s own was the basis for determining the height of the Sixth Rank in the future.
Having left the Deep Fire Palace, Lin Xin quickly packed his things and headed straight to the Teleportation Formation to be transported back to Qiushi.
********************
Within the Qiushi Region.
The sunset descended to the west, the sea lightly undulating.
Lin Xin walked slowly through the main Lin Family estate along the seaside, moving gradually forward.
After so many years away, it seemed the sea here had become even clearer. Golden red sand beaches were covered with shells, and quiet hermit crabs sneaked out of their tiny shells, silently crawling on the sand.
"Over here, over here!"
A few children looking like they came from fishermen’s families were running and frolicking towards this direction, dashing past Lin Xin.
"Come and catch me!"
A little girl made a silly face.
"You won’t get away!"
The boys behind her were so exhausted they could hardly catch their breath and just couldn’t catch up.
Lin Xin watched as the children brushed past him, and in no time, they had run far away.
He stood quietly in place for a while, letting his mind wander, spreading it in all directions, attempting to merge with every inch of the beach.
But he was immediately repelled by an invisible force.
The beach was devoid of life, with no meridians, no spirit veins—how could his divine soul consciousness find a medium to permeate deeply?
Without even being able to transmit into the interior, there was no need to speak of merging with it.
"The Land for God Worship... where on earth could it be?"
Lin Xin withdrew his consciousness and continued to walk forward aimlessly.
He had visited Lin Clan’s ancestral land long ago, and apart from feeling somewhat more familiar, his consciousness was still unable to merge with the earth there.
Unable to merge even with his birthplace, Lin Xin didn’t know where his Land for God Worship should be.
"Why not go back and take a look?"
The voice of Lin Yaoyang came from behind him.
Upon arriving in the Qiushi Region, concealing his presence from Lin Yaoyang, the local master, was naturally impossible.
As soon as she received the report from her subordinates, she hurried over and saw her brother wandering about the beach in a daze.
"Just facing a difficult problem in my cultivation practice. You should go back first; I will act as I please," Lin Xin turned around and smiled.
"Cultivation practice..." Lin Yaoyang echoed, "Alright, I’ll leave you be."
She nodded slightly, signaling for the experts hidden in the dark to retreat with her.
By the time Lin Xin came back to his senses, Lin Yaoyang had already left with her people, and the surroundings had once again become desolate.
"The place that resonates most with me..." He recalled what his senior brother Oro had said.
He remembered the scenes he had gone through since arriving in this world—the battles, the campaigns, the massacres, the conflicts...
Countless fights, countless pains, and countless struggles.
"Could the place that resonates most with me be one of struggle and slaughter..."
A glimmer of clarity suddenly passed through his heart.
*******************
The Void Spirit Tower
Lin Xin stood in the passageway between the layers of the Void Spirit Tower, gazing through the nearly transparent crystal at the boundless dark void beyond.
"This place... feels so comfortable..."
He dispersed his consciousness into many parts; every bit of matter here was like a dry sponge, desperately calling out to him.
Slaughter, devouring, pain, and struggle.
In the void, the Void Spirit Tower symbolizes the first battle line where Human Race cultivators defend their territories, waging bloody battles against Demon Spirits.
This place suppressed the most powerful of Human Immortals, who were at least of the Fifth Rank. Countless beings perished here, countless souls wailed here.
Lin Xin stood quietly in the passageway, with the pale blue fluorescent light from the top of the Void Spirit Tower shining through the crystal onto his face, giving it a hint of illusion and eeriness.
"Could it be that deep down, I have always longed for slaughter, for massacre?"
Lin Xin couldn’t help but question himself.
He involuntarily thought of his greatest reliance all along—his Attributes.
In truth, his ability to manipulate Attributes was also a sort of devouring of external entities, evolving himself in a roundabout way.
"My Land for God Worship..." Lin Xin focused on a small plane that was slowly exploding in the void.
"Perhaps it truly does originate from massacre."
Faint footsteps could be heard from far down the passageway.
Lin Xin came to his senses, turned around, and left composedly, brushing past a group of cultivators who had just come in.
He might have known by now how to choose his Land for God Worship.
*******************
"The Void is divided into thirty-three heavens; with immense power and great wisdom, one can break through the void and step into the first heaven.
And so on, breaking through the second and entering the third... ultimately stepping into the Primordial Heaven, which is the thirty-third and final heaven..."
Lin Xin gently leafed through the tome in his hand.
At that moment, he was in a wide and desolate plain.
This was a broken plane in the void, randomly found near the Dragon Serpent Realm.
The plane wasn’t always a ruin, rather it was abundantly fertile, but after countless battles and campaigns, the plane deteriorated further and further, eventually losing all its mineral riches and being abandoned by cultivators and Demon Spirits, becoming a true wasteland in the void.
Such wastelands were all too common in the void.
Lin Xin closed the tome, having browsed it casually while on the move.
Standing in the center of this wasteland, he could clearly sense the countless Demon Spirit carcasses beneath his feet, the blood and flesh of cultivators and Demon Spirits that had been spilled numerous times upon this land.
He spread his consciousness to touch, to permeate the soil of the plane.
Everything that had happened here, he could sense from the traces his consciousness felt.
"Still not enough..."
Lin Xin shook his head slightly.
He turned and flew into the distance, quickly disappearing into the void.
He didn’t know if he was normal. After consulting his Honored Master, he understood that everyone’s Land for God Worship is peculiar, owing to different minds and motives.
But no one had ever chosen the Void Wasteland, nor had anyone felt kinship with it.
