Chapter 652 - 647 Task One
Chapter 652: Chapter 647 Task One
"Be very careful, and do not easily reveal your identity," Oro cautioned.
"I understand!"
"There’s another item, prepared by the Honored Master for you. It was originally planned to be given to you later, but now it just so happens to be the right time."
Oro took out a mask from his space equipment.
The mask was transparent, uniformly thick, and appeared to be made of an unidentified biological fur.
"This is the Thousand Arts Mask. It can change your facial appearance, even your height and breath. It cannot be seen through by anyone below the Sixth Rank. Even a Sixth Rank Earth Immortal would have to look closely to discern your true identity. It’s very easy to overlook."
"Thank you, senior brother, thank you, Honored Master," said Lin Xin, bowing earnestly toward the direction of the Deep Fire Palace.
These were truly people who cared about him wholeheartedly.
"Remember, prioritize safety above all. In times of danger when things aren’t right, everything can be abandoned. Save your life first," Oro admonished.
"Yes, senior brother."
Lin Xin nodded solemnly.
Equipped with two valuable objects, Lin Xin also consulted Oro about the key points of the Fire Cloud Technique for a while before turning to leave.
Returning to his stone cottage, he prepared the items he needed to take with him.
The only piece of space equipment he had was a black little ring given to him by Feng Huai, standard-issue from the Green Lake Mountain.
Its secrecy was not strong, so he could only carry some ordinary substances.
If it fell into the hands of other cultivators, it could be unlocked in an instant.
He planned to find a more suitable space equipment while undergoing this period of training and learning.
In the past, he had never considered this issue, but now it had to be put on the agenda.
Since it was a period of training, he had to prepare thoroughly.
He had bought a small Pill Furnace from the Tower of Life in the Dragon Serpent Realm, along with many herbs needed to refine the Soul Return Pill.
Using the Earth Fire, it took him over four months to refine three Nine Revolutions Resurrection Pills.
Each pill was made by refining it dozens of times, involving numerous complex procedures and high difficulty, and even he had expended a lot of effort on it.
But these three Soul Return Pills could, at critical moments, save the life of a Fifth Rank Human Immortal like himself.
Because it was a Fifth Rank medicine specifically for Human Race cultivators, he did not make any potions for his senior brother Oro and the Honored Master.
Instead, he carefully placed the three pills into a qi bottle.
Then, he began selecting tasks.
**************
Inside the stone cottage.
Lin Xin examined a greenish-blue light screen before him, checking carefully. It displayed numerous closely packed tasks.
’Family Head Business: On the edge of family territory, there is a medium-sized void Demon Spirit with three Demon Generals, approximately 800,000 in number. Requires Fifth Rank cultivators to jointly eliminate. Reward 1,200 Contribution Points, requires three people.’
’New World Exploration: Unexplored floating world. Reward 1,000 Contribution Points.’
’Suppressing Rebellion: At the peripheral world branch of the Sect, a rebellion has arisen, requiring a Fifth Rank cultivator to suppress it. Reward 800 Contribution Points.’
’Evil God’s Whispers: Mysterious whispering voices emanating from the Evil God Zasilei’s cavern, requires a cultivator to investigate. An Earth Immortal leads, reward 3,000 Contribution Points, spoils of war to be divided by negotiation.’
’Patrolling the Human World: Thirty-six world nodes need mana reinforcement; spatial rifts could appear. Encounters with escaped demon lords are additional, preliminary 500 Contribution Points, each demon lord adds 100 points.’
Task after task automatically appeared on the light screen, Lin Xin had added the label of Fifth Rank or below to all tasks, as without the filter, there would be even more.
He scrutinized each task in detail, with just a thought he could see the details, such as the destination, environment, and general process of the task. What special items needed to be prepared were all meticulously listed.
"For my first assignment, I should pick a safer one," he thought.
He soon set his sights on a rescue mission.
’Rescue Request: A Sect branch in a remote world is facing a crisis. Its Great Elder sacrifices a precious treasure, offering it to the heavens, requesting support from an Upper Realm’s Immortal. Contribution Points 600, teleportation fees waived for two round trips.’
"This Lower Realm should be similar to the Underworld I knew before, not highly dangerous. It should be fine."
Lin Xin flipped through, there were many such tasks; he chose one that was neither too close nor too far. It would take five uses of the Long-Distance Teleportation Formation to reach the Lower Realm’s Altar.
"This is the one."
Having confirmed the task, Lin Xin clapped his hands, the sound carried far and wide, penetrating the stone door,
"Master!"
Soon, Lin Youke and Lin Chuan arrived quickly.
"I will be going out soon. You should stay here in the Dragon Serpent Realm and cultivate; you may occasionally go out to train in this realm. If you need something, seek assistance from senior brother Oro. Understood?"
The three had always been of little help to Lin Xin and were negligible; at this moment, they were all eager to cultivate intensely.
With Lin Xin occasionally transferring some attributes to them.
While their cultivation level wasn’t fast and hadn’t reached the Third Rank, their combat abilities had advanced by leaps and bounds, equivalent to that of Third Rank cultivators.
"Master, rest assured," Lin Youke took the lead, this girl was very ambitious.
Initially, she thought about seducing Lin Xin to climb up the ranks but now was crazily cultivating every day, turning all her ambition into strengthening herself.
She also progressed the fastest among the three.
Her previously preferred dress, a contoured short skirt, was now replaced by tight black trousers for convenience, her long hair tied back in a ponytail, and her face growing progressively more stern. Following Lin Xin’s example, she also wore two swords crossed at her back.
Although still young and beautiful, with an attractive figure, she resembled a rose with thorns, exuding an aura that kept people at bay.
"In my absence, for all critical matters, you are to follow what Keke commands," instructed Lin Xin.
The three hurriedly agreed.
After giving some detailed instructions, Lin Xin let the three leave.
He tidied up all his belongings and stuffed them into his space ring. He then checked the state of his Sacred Body sealed within him.
The Demon God Sacred Body had also been severely damaged in the last bitter battle and had almost perished. Now, it had almost recovered.
Moved by Lin Xin to his chest area, it could burst forth at a critical moment to block an enemy attack.
Having changed into a clean green robe, he greeted his senior brother using a jade talisman, and bid farewell to his Honored Master.
Then he left the Deep Fire Palace and flew towards the long-distance teleportation formation in the Dragon Serpent Realm.
*****************
The long-distance teleportation formation consisted of five hundred-meter-high hills.
The five hills formed a circular array, with the center suspended with countless finely polished droplet-shaped jewels, each the size of a fist, intricately engraved with massive complex spatial runes.
Even Lin Xin could not completely understand the principles behind it.
He was not yet capable of deploying the teleportation array, as it involved spatial rules that were beyond his current knowledge.
Standing in the center of the circle, the area was empty, devoid of any living creature.
Lin Xin took out a jade talisman, using it as a guiding beacon, and then took out a fifth-rank Earth Fire Stone given by his senior brother, a consumable for the teleportation array.
Gently crushing the Earth Fire Stone into red powder, he scattered it at his feet within the array.
Hum!!
Instantly, the entire circular array, along with the five hills, lit up with red light, countless droplet-shaped jewels began to orbit and spin around Lin Xin, increasing from slow to fast, faster and faster.
*****************
At the other end of the teleportation array, in a forest surrounded by verdant water and green mountains.
The array slowly lit up with red light, its surface spreading myriad red formation patterns creating ripples of spatial distortion.
"He’s coming!"
In the surrounding air, a deep voice suddenly vibrated.
Three shadow-like cultivators abruptly appeared, surrounding the teleportation formation, their bodies hidden in the air as if completely transparent, with no trace of aura leaking.
But at this moment, as the teleportation array vibrated and distorted space, they could no longer suppress it, subtly releasing a hint of murderous intent.
"I’ll go notify Huan Ping."
One of them said in a low voice.
"This lad is also unlucky, troubling us to wait here for so long," another shadow said coldly.
"The Realm Master personally ordered this, with a hefty reward. The moment he comes out, he won’t think of going back," another said.
The three each pressed down on three prepared Taoist Talismans, staring at the increasingly bright array, ready at any moment.
Killing was easy, but the difficult part was facing the wrath of the Dragon Serpent Realm Master after killing.
Hum!!
Suddenly, the red light intensified.
The three almost simultaneously tightened their grip on the Taoist Talismans, and before they could make a move, they felt a sudden pain in between their eyebrows. They felt their mana surge out like a tide.
"No.....!"
The highest cultivated among them showed a look of fear, crying out in a low roar, but it was already too late.
An opening was pierced through the back of his head.
The three shadowy figures, like smoke, swiftly dissipated, sucked into a black hole behind them with great force.
Not far from the three, a giant blood-colored dragon-headed tortoise appeared in the air momentarily and vanished into the void.
"Qing Shan Realm sure is bold, deploying an expert retainer from Green Lock Hall. No wonder my brother had me personally take action,"
The dragon-headed tortoise muttered, sucking in the last wisp of black smoke, and rapidly disappeared into the void.
Hum!
At this moment, the teleportation array’s radiance reached its peak, and under the blazing light, a man in a green robe slowly stepped out, looking around.
It was Lin Xin, who had just teleported from the Dragon Serpent Realm.
He sniffed suspiciously at the surrounding air, seeming to detect a scent.
"Seems like some foreign power...never mind, I must hurry on,"
He took out a jade talisman and then retrieved another Earth Fire Stone, this fifth-rank Earth Fire Stone used for teleportation would be reimbursed once the mission was completed.
Crushing the Earth Fire Stone, the jade talisman led the way.
The teleportation array lit up with red light again, dimming before quickly intensifying.
With a boom, Lin Xin disappeared into the red light once more.
***********************
In a dimension within the void.
Snow danced all around, atop a tall peak, where the mountain wall recessed into a small platform.
Several cultivators in green robes stood there, each wearing a tall green pointed hat embroidered with silver strange symbols that faintly glimmered with silver light amidst the snowstorm.
All of them wore white masks, revealing only their sharp eyes.
They stood in a circle, at the center of which was a white altar piled with snow, only five meters in length and width, similar to a pyramid with its top cut off, with its very top being a not too large or small jade platform, also engraved with mysterious black runes.
