Chapter 646: Chapter 641: Defection 1
"Brother Demon Dragon, my visit this time is to seek a favor for my younger brother. It’s also for your greatest wish," the man slowly began, his voice resonating and directly reaching into the fortress.
"A favor? A wish? Could it be... the incident that happened just recently with Old Qing Shan?"
Vengeful joy began to seep through the voice emanating from within the fortress.
Feng Panjun’s expression remained indifferent.
"Since brother is aware, then things will be easier. My younger brother came to me because of his friend, Lin Sherie, and I couldn’t ignore his request. Surely, Brother Demon Dragon, you’re also aware of Lin Sherie’s talent?"
"I can do that! Hahahahaha! As long as it’s something that can infuriate Old Qing Shan to his core, I’m all in!"
The fortress trembled violently, its emanating voice booming like thunder and shaking the surroundings for dozens of miles.
Feng Panjun felt a shiver in his heart as well.
If it weren’t for the Demon Dragon Realm Master’s numerous hidden injuries, he might truly have the hope of breaking through to the Earth Immortal realm and stepping into the rank of a Heavenly Immortal, as the legends suggest.
What a pity...
He felt a sense of regret in his heart.
"My brother is on his way here, and since you’ve agreed, I’ll leave the matter entirely in your hands. This favor, consider it one that I, Feng, owe you," Feng Panjun said.
"Hehe, a favor from Brother Feng is not something that just anyone can obtain," replied the Demon Dragon Realm Master, unreservedly.
Who is Feng Panjun?
The Feng Family is known to have produced the strongest genius in history, a terrifying talent who is the reincarnation of an Immortal.
He is expected to aim for the position of Vice Tower Master at the Green Lake Mountain and Heavenly Evolution Tower in the future. Such a powerful cultivator, reborn and repairing his path, happens to be someone with extraordinary luck and chance.
Owing him a favor is undoubtedly a deal that’s bound to profit at a crucial moment.
Moreover, Lin Sherie’s talents are also commendable; it’s definitely a worthwhile trade.
Inside the fortress, on top of a crimson grand hall, a bold elder with red hair and beard meticulously examined a Jade Slip in his hand.
Within the Jade Slip was all the information he had just received about Lin Xin.
After waiting for Feng Panjun to depart, the elder Demon Dragon Realm Master chuckled with a sneer.
"Old Qing Shan hasn’t committed so many disgusting acts over the years, but this time he’s certainly suffered a big blow. That brat, Qiao Yu, was killed right in his own territory."
"This Lin Sherie really suits my taste."
The Demon Dragon suddenly reminisced about his own past, when he too was similar, casting aside grudges in a moment of satisfaction with Jianghu, living life with unrivaled flair.
And the consequences?
What’s that? Can it be eaten?
Such a personality brought him immense strength and status but also left him with indelible, deep, and hidden injuries.
"He should be on his way here by now, and since he’s coming, let’s take him in and see. Just observe."
The Demon Dragon muttered to himself.
"Big brother, what are you mumbling about over there?"
Suddenly, a blood-red dragon-headed turtle slowly crawled into the side hall, snorting out sparks from its nostrils, its voice rough and gruff.
"Second brother, weren’t you off drinking with the old fossil Immortal? Why have you come back so soon?" the Demon Dragon nonchalantly inquired as he put away the Jade Slip.
"Heh, didn’t I see that Feng Panjun from your Green Lake come visiting? Just thought I’d come over to see the excitement," the dragon-headed turtle chuckled twice.
"Has our third sister gone off to open up a new ruin again?" inquired the Demon Dragon. "There are many minions laid by the Demon God King; she’d best not capsize in a ditch."
"Don’t worry, she’s got nine lives; she won’t die," replied the turtle in a sluggish tone, crawling over to his seat to lie down.
"What’s Feng Panjun doing here? Came to you for crafting a Magic Artifact?"
"Heh, he’s sending me a disciple," the Demon Dragon said proudly. "Big brother, I’m telling you, this one isn’t just any crooked date, but a fine seedling that slipped through from the Qing Shan realm."
"Three days!"
The turtle extended three of its claws.
"Just give me three days, and your disciple is guaranteed to be full of ’inflow’ without any ’outflow’."
A sly smile formed on his face.
"You’re not even thinking, the routine that works for us Demon Dragons might be okay, but for the normal Human Race? Who can handle it?"
"Nonsense!" bellowed the Demon Dragon furiously, slapping his palm on the armrest of his seat. "At the very least, they can hold out for five days!"
He then paused, realizing something.
"No! No, that’s not right! This time, I’ll definitely be gentle. Look at my thirty disciples, isn’t each one of them trained by me to be powerful and of exceptional character?"
"That’s my credit, by the way!" retorted the turtle immediately. "Big brother, isn’t your face turning red from saying that?"
"Blushing? My face is naturally red," bellowed the Demon Dragon, puffing up.
"I&(*%¥#....!!!" The turtle felt that arguing with this stubborn old head was truly shortening its lifespan.
"Let nature take its course... Let nature take its course..." it quickly muttered to itself a few times, taking deep breaths in... and out... in... and out...
He slowly crawled out, murmuring to himself that he, the great Turtle, would not stoop to the old head’s level.
*****************
In a land blanketed with magma, at the edge of a volcano’s mouth.
The dark red lava flowed slowly from the volcano edge, drawing out several long thin streams of red.
Whish!
A white light flashed by in a blink.
A black shuttle-shaped flying artifact suddenly appeared at the top of the volcano mouth.
The edge of the artifact opened an entrance, and a group of monks in green robes walked out.
The two leading figures were one man leisurely waving a folding fan, smiling, who was the recently arrived Feng Huai from the Qing Shan Realm, and the other, a man with a handsome face and a calm demeanor, was Lin Xin who had followed along.
The remaining few were the three disciples Lin Youke and Feng Huai’s female guard, Thousand Eyes.
As the six of them exited the artifact, Feng Huai waved his hand and scattered a pure white barrier to protect the group.
"This is the Dragon Serpent Realm. The air is not suitable for the human race to inhabit; it’s all sulfur and volcanic toxins. Be careful, everyone. We’re close to the Earth Fire Realm, so the entire small world is affected by the energy of the earth fire."
"Has it already declined to this state?" Thousand Eyes glanced around lightly shaking her head. "The world has reached its final days. Even the core heat is drawn out by the Earth Fire Realm. It seems this Dragon Serpent Realm won’t be able to hold on much longer."
"Let’s not talk about that; let’s head to the Dragon Serpent Palace. The Realm Master of the Dragon Serpent has already received news of our arrival," Feng Huai said softly.
"That’s fine," Lin Xin nodded.
They confirmed their direction and flew straight towards the Dragon Serpent Palace.
Along the way, Feng Huai also introduced Lin Xin to the situation with the elders of the Dragon Serpent.
It wasn’t that the Realm Master of the Dragon Serpent didn’t have true disciples, but that he had none capable of breaking through to the Earth Immortal level to inherit the lead.
Moreover, as the Dragon Serpent Realm itself wasn’t suitable for human habitation or developing an Immortal Foundation, it had always struggled to recruit disciples with strong innate talents. After all, there were too many options available on Green Lake Mountain.
With so many Realm Masters to choose from, why join one with such harsh living conditions?
Furthermore, the Realm Master of the Dragon Serpent was notoriously irascible and impatient when it came to teaching, which was well known on Green Lake Mountain.
That was another reason why no disciple with great talent had flocked to him.
"There’s one more thing," Feng Huai added, "the Realm Master of the Dragon Serpent is very strict with his disciples. Many couldn’t withstand his training methods and turned to other Realm Masters. That’s also key to why he doesn’t have a successor for his mantle."
As they were speaking, they had already arrived at a black Taoist Palace that was floating mid-air.
The dark red sparks of forging iron rhythmically splattered about.
The sounds also continuously vibrated and spread to the distance.
Just by approaching this spherical Taoist Palace, the three Lin Youke disciples could barely withstand it, feeling their bodies becoming hot and their blood boiling.
"Take this; it can temporarily suppress the surge of the Dragon Serpent magma’s pressure." Feng Huai handed out a pinkish tiny fruit to everyone.
After swallowing it, Lin Youke felt somewhat more comfortable, and his complexion improved a lot.
The group walked up and stood at the entrance of the Taoist Palace, where Feng Huai gently knocked on the door.
"Feng Family disciple Feng Huai seeks an audience with the Realm Master of the Dragon Serpent," he announced loudly.
"Feng Huai? Your elder brother has already visited. Come in. The few people behind you, don’t bother coming; they can’t withstand the cost of gazing upon me."
An ancient and wild voice echoed from inside the spherical Taoist Palace.
Lin Xin immediately sensed an intense, scorching breath stealthily sweeping around him.
He had already suppressed his dodging instinct, allowing the investigation.
"The three of you stay here; the three of us will enter," Lin Xin arranged.
"I’ll stay as well," said Thousand Eyes.
Feng Huai nodded and walked with Lin Xin towards the slowly opening silent door.
The two stepped into the Taoist Palace, with red sculptures of different dragon-headed monsters on each side.
The floor was carved with a detailed and fierce dragon pattern made of flowing magma.
The walls were inlaid with black and purple gems, crystals, and jade of various sizes.
An old man with red hair and beard, dressed in a red robe and surrounded by a layer of faint distortion, sat at the top of the Taoist Palace, looking down at them.
The hall wasn’t large, but it was filled with an unimaginable high temperature.
Feng Huai trembled slightly; a coolness seeping from his body, undoubtedly due to some protective treasure.
Lin Xin remained unperturbed, with a layer of Protective Aura manifesting around him.
Although the Fifth Rank Third Level Protective Aura wasn’t much use against opponents of the same rank, it easily adapted to the environment.
They walked to the center of the hall and bowed to the elder with cupped fists.
Feng Huai said, "Elder of the Dragon Serpent, you must be aware of our intention. I wonder..."
"Take! Of course, I’ll take him!" the Dragon Serpent waved his large hand, his black and red eyes staring at Lin Xin.
"Fifth Rank Third Level, not bad at all, there’s hope for stepping into the Earth Immortal Great Dao, hehe, such a disciple, and Qing Shan old fool actually doesn’t want him! Utterly foolish! Hmm... you also carry the scent of Thunder Fire and the Qilin? Not bad at all!"
He sniffed and his eyes lit up.
Lin Xin’s heart tensed; just face to face, and the Realm Master of the Dragon Serpent saw through the fact that he had channeled the Qilin and the Thunder Emperor’s Sword Technique.
This Realm Master of the Dragon Serpent was indeed extremely formidable.
"The senior has discerning eyes," he respectfully said.
"Now that I have brought the disciple, the next step is for you to make arrangements. Please allow Feng Huai to take his leave," Feng Huai was delighted, not expecting that Lin Xin would also have a fire-type foundation, which made things much easier.
"Go on, go on, your brother exchanged a favor for this opportunity, remember to remind him when you go back!" the Dragon Serpent said impatiently, waving his hand.
Feng Huai’s expression turned woeful for a moment. He gave Lin Xin a look and quickly exited.
The great doors of the hall slowly closed, leaving only Lin Xin and the Dragon Serpent Elder within.
Neither spoke.
Lin Xin was waiting for the Dragon Serpent to speak first.
The Dragon Serpent was carefully observing every detail about him.
