Chapter 599 - 594 Test 2

Chapter 599: Chapter 594 Test 2

Compared to the giants, the so-called giant eagles were completely like tiny pet sparrows and utterly inconspicuous.

Lin Xin didn’t even dare to breathe too heavily.

The oppressive might of the two giants was too overwhelming, giving him a feeling similar to facing Demon God Ji Kun from the Abyss of Primordial Ancient Times.

He could barely catch his breath.

If he was already finding it difficult to cope, not to mention the others behind him.

No sooner had the giant eagle passed through the cloud gate guarded by the giants than a sigh of relief was heard from its back.

Clearly, everyone had been scared stiff.

"Those two are Caiyun Immortal Officers from Caiyun City, don’t be afraid, they are specially in charge of intercepting any Demon Spirits that might appear from the Void, they won’t pay any attention to small fries like us," Wang Immortal Master explained with a hint of pride.

"Caiyun Immortal Officers..." This time Lin Xin truly understood what being an Immortal meant.

In a place like the Mortal Realm with such wild Elemental Energy, being able to sustain such strong Spiritual Pressure and size, their level was obviously beyond his ability to fathom.

After that scene, everyone, including Lin Xin, felt even more anticipation towards the impending bloodline test.

If one could truly enter such a mythic and massive sect for cultivation practice, that would be the greatest pursuit of a cultivator’s life.

Upon entering Caiyun City, a sight of white stone towering buildings almost endless in scope came into view.

Seventh Layer, Eighth Layer, ten layers, twenty layers, massive high-rising buildings were densely packed everywhere.

The whole city seemed somewhat deserted, with only occasional figures moving inside the tall buildings.

On the streets on the ground, between the corridors of buildings, and occasionally in mid-air, one could see people with blue hair flying to and fro.

It seemed they were the real masters of the entire city.

Wang Immortal Master did not explain and commanded the giant eagle to turn right, quickly flying towards a spire of more than ten layers and landing in front of it.

"We’ve arrived, it’s right here! Everyone, get down," he said as he waved his sleeve, and suddenly everyone felt as if they were lifted by a light breeze, slowly floating down to stand firm on the ground.

The building was surrounded by a large courtyard, which already had some people standing in it, apparently also groups of people who came to test.

Seeing the giant eagle, these people just casually cast a few glances and swept their eyes over the newcomers before quickly focusing on Lin Xin.

Wang Immortal Master landed lightly, waved his hand, and the giant eagle immediately shrank into a palm-sized toy, which he stored in his sleeve.

"Wang Jin, returning so late and wasting so much time in such a barren land, I must say, it truly suits Huai Master’s True Disciple to have learned only so much after all these years," a one-eyed monk walked up slowly to him, his face filled with mockery.

Wang Jin’s expression immediately darkened.

The one-eyed monk then scanned Lin Xin and the rest of the group.

"Look at you, you’ve gone so far and only brought back such rubbish? If I were Huai Master, I would be so ashamed that I’d want to bash my head against a pillar.

Even a simple task of recruiting disciples can’t be done right, raising you has been nothing but a waste of Caiyun City’s resources!"

"Have you said enough!" Wang Immortal Master clenched his fists.

"I brought back four Spirit Veins, three of them Purebloods, heh, Huai Master must indeed have been blind to bestow the opportunity on someone like you!"

The one-eyed monk sneered.

"Alright, Chen Immortal Officer, let’s go for the test, it’s about to start."

A refined and graceful young man behind the one-eyed monk gently reminded him.

"Fine, let’s go for the test." The attitude of the one-eyed monk mellowed immediately, and with a cold huff, he led a group of disciples to the spire through a side path.

Wang Jin gritted his teeth and turned back to show Lin Xin a forced smile.

"Sorry you had to see that, let’s head to the Testing Tower."

Lin Xin’s expression remained unchanged; it was clear that this enmity was rooted in Wang Immortal Master’s own past, and it was inappropriate for him to get involved, especially since he was still unclear about the circumstances.

However, in the crowd behind him, there were a few hot-tempered people whose eyes darkened slightly.

Being called trash without reason and in public was not comfortable for anyone.

"Alright," Lin Xin nodded.

The group began approaching the spire.

Before they could get close, the spire began to tremble slightly.

Hum!!

A buzzing sound, reminiscent of the vibration of bees, emanated from the base of the spire.

Suddenly, a stream of green light shot up from bottom to top along the spire.

First Layer, Second Layer, Third Layer!

The green light suddenly halted at the Third Layer of the spire.

"Pureblood! It’s a Third Rank Pureblood!"

Exclamations of surprise came faintly from the crowd around the spire.

The green light slowly dissipated.

Everything returned to calm.

Wang Jin’s eyes sunk, knowing that this time he was unlikely to earn much from the mission.

In the area he led, it took a lot of effort just to find a single Pureblood, and although he wasn’t sure of its rank, in such a barren land, being able to find a Pureblood was a reason to be thankful, how strong could it be conceived?

Leading Lin Xin and the others to the side of the spire, they lined up in front of a large gate.

One by one, the groups in front entered for testing, which proceeded quickly.

A series of green lights shot up, all signifying Purebloods, just not as high as three layers like the previous one, these were mostly First Layer, with only occasionally a Second Layer sighted.

The cultivator leading the Second Layer group plainly showed joy on their face.

The one-eyed monk’s group was a bit ahead of them in the line.

Soon it was their turn as well.

Before entering the tower, the one-eyed monk sneered at Wang Jin from a distance.

****************

In mid-air, at the side of the spire.

Elder Qing Shan shook his head and sighed.

"This Chen Jiaohua...."

"Teacher, why are you shaking your head? Isn’t that kid that Chen Duyan brought with him very talented?" the young girl by his side couldn’t help but blurt out.

"It’s nothing, let’s see how these seedlings he found turn out," said Elder Qing Shan, his expression returning to normal. "Among the seedlings that Wang Jin brought, there’s a boy who is extraordinary."

"Extraordinary?" The girl blinked in surprise, "No matter how extraordinary, could he possibly be stronger than my Spirit Vein?"

Elder Qing Shan couldn’t help but laugh.

"You know, you really can’t compare with this boy’s rank."

The girl immediately felt unconvinced.

"I don’t believe it, that somebody from such a barren place could actually produce a top-notch core member?

I’ve been diligently purifying my bloodline for more than ten years of cultivation practice."

"Just watch carefully. There are quite a few good seedlings coming this time," said Elder Qing Shan with a light laugh.

"Some people, they resort to all means to usurp the foundation of my Qing Shan territory... If they can’t do it openly, they resort to the shadows."

"Don’t worry, teacher, I’ll deal with the ignorant ones!" the girl snorted coldly, revealing a completely non-intimidating smirk.

"Alright, alright, everything depends on Yu’er, all on Yu’er...." Elder Qing Shan affectionately stroked the girl’s head, a kind smile on his face, but his eyes couldn’t conceal a trace of darkness.

*****************

In front of the Testing Tower.

Hum!!

Another streak of blue light surged.

First Layer, Second Layer, Third Layer, Fourth Layer!

"Fourth Rank Spirit Vein..."

Wang Jin’s heart trembled, and he immediately understood that it was the talent displayed by the aristocratic-looking youth that Duyan, the one-eyed dragon, had brought with him.

Although to protect those with talent, their identities are not explicitly revealed when inciting the tower’s blue light.

But everyone is not a fool those walking ahead behind the Immortal Master, with a status notably higher than ordinary disciples, are clearly either Purebloods or possess a Spirit Vein.

So it’s quite easy to identify whose talent it really is.

Soon after, Duyan slowly came out, revealing a contemptuous sneer towards Wang Jin’s side.

Behind him followed that aristocratic-looking youth, who seemed calm and composed as if he didn’t care about the Fourth Rank Spiritual Light he had just triggered.

"Fourth Rank... Earth Level Second Grade... That’s considered a genius even in the entire Green Lake Mountain... These major clans really are generous."

A chill ran through Wang Jin’s heart.

Previously, it was rare to see any Fourth Layer levels for so long, and now suddenly one appears from just this agency, not to mention how many others there might be from other agencies.

Swarming out all at once, they must have been specially sent in by some influential forces.

"It’s our turn."

The surroundings were noisy, all filled with other people’s exclamations about the Fourth Rank.

Wang Jin, however, didn’t want to listen to anything anymore. He was eager to finish the test quickly and avoid further embarrassment there.

Lin Xin waited for the people in front to all come out before he moved toward the Testing Tower.

Behind him were Master Kuan An and Chen Jingsi, followed by other seedlings who had come along.

A group of people followed behind Wang Jin, entered the Testing Tower, which contained a small circular lounge.

The surrounding walls were inlaid with rings of dark red patterns, seemingly made of some kind of crystal stone.

"You go first," Wang Jin said to Chen Jingsi.

"Okay."

Chen Jingsi stepped forward to the center of the lounge, closed her eyes.

Hum!

A ring of green light rose from her feet, then, reaching her waist, gradually dimmed.

"Not Pureblood, not Spirit Vein..." Wang Jin said with a hint of disappointment.

Chen Jingsi looked somewhat pale but still managed to walk down.

"This isn’t your first test, is it?" Wang Jin casually asked.

Chen Jingsi nodded silently.

"Sigh... Next."

Wang Jin looked towards Master Kuan An, who walked forward with a smile.

He stood in the center of the lounge, then closed his eyes.

Hum!

The green light blossomed, shooting up from his feet in an instant, soared to the ceiling, and almost touched it before slowly dimming.

Wang Jin’s eyes brightened slightly, his expression showing a little more satisfaction.

"Illusion Sand Bloodline, not Pureblood, but after a bit of refining, it could reach the First Rank Spirit Vein... Very good."

He glanced at Lin Xin, hesitating. He wanted to ask him to proceed but was afraid that his only hope would be shattered.

"Let the others go first!"

He bit his lip, deciding to reveal the results at the end, although he didn’t believe Lin Xin had any good Pureblood, after all, he was a Pureblood himself.

And with Master Kuan An’s performance, there was some foundation to work with.

One by one, the others took their turn.

A series of green lights flickered constantly.

Lin Xin stood aside, looking on indifferently.

As for the power of his Chanting Star Clan bloodline, he wasn’t clear either, and this test was a good opportunity to try it out.

He was curious about the reputed power of the Purifying Blood.
