Chapter 571 - 565 - Death Qi Four
Chapter 571: 565 Chapter Death Qi Four
Lin Xin was non-committal, neither confirming nor denying.
His combat abilities had now completely surpassed his past self. Even masters at the level of Ghost Immortal and Human Immortal seemed inconsequential unless they had reached the pinnacle of the Polar Region.
"Little brother, you are the strongest among the younger generation, the face of our Lin Family’s main house. This time, it was a matter of necessity that I had to ask you to come out of seclusion. Give it your all! It’s all on you!"
Lin Yaoyang spoke earnestly, and if it wasn’t for the smell of alcohol on his breath, Lin Xin might have actually believed him.
"Wait until this ordeal is over, and as a reward, I’ll make sure not to lock the door tonight~~~!"
She added one last sentence and threw a coquettish glance at Lin Xin.
"No thanks, you should save that for your future husband," Lin Xin stood up. As a significant figure within the main family, he had always enjoyed the best treatments from an early age, including arranged experiments, Formation Talisms, and various resources needed for cultivation practice—all provided by the family with unconditional priority.
Now that the family was in trouble, it was time for him to step in and relieve the situation.
This was perfect timing, as he had fully adapted to the terrifying surge in his body’s attribute powers over the past few days. Yet, his original plans were now in complete disarray; he needed to rearrange his growth path moving forward.
*****************
After leaving the main house, Lin Xin did not head straight to the town below the mountain but instead went to the nearby seaside.
He found a secluded spot along the coast that no one could see and dove into the sea, swimming towards the depths before choosing an unnoticed spot near the shore.
He swiftly took out materials and Spirit Jade from the Storage Crystal and arranged a Talisman Formation to conceal his aura and suppress fluctuations.
The seawater was quickly dispersed, forming a hemisphere of space more than ten meters across with Lin Xin at the center.
Lin Xin then took out a small black flag and planted it on the seabed beneath his feet.
The ground immediately solidified into iron, changing from soft to hard in an instant.
In this way, a simple retreat location was created.
Sitting cross-legged, he began to organize the various powers within his body.
"Attribute enhancement, Purifying Force, Rushing Thunder Sword, extreme Yang arts; fortunately, the flaws of the Sacred Body have been compensated for, except for the Primordial Mother there, that accident last time... seems a bit troublesome."
Lin Xin pondered each aspect.
His initial goal had been to reincarnate into the human world because the rules in the Underworld were broken, preventing any advancement beyond Ghost Immortal. Now, the Sacred Body’s broken rule system had also been mended over the years.
The current issue was whether to continue on the path of the Sacred Body and strive for higher ascension or adopt a new system with his current physical form.
"It’s a pity... If it wasn’t for that accident, I could have continued to strengthen the Sacred Body, adding over thirty thousand attributes to it. I wonder what realm I could have reached." Lin Xin shook his head slightly, quite regretfully.
But now that things were set in stone, to avoid wasting the Attribute Points, he only had the alternative method.
"My Sacred Body followed the Extreme Yin Path. Perhaps in this life, I could follow the Extreme Yang Path. The combination of Yin and Yang might even enable me to achieve the Earth Immortal Great Dao," he suddenly regretted not taking that set of jade records of Evil Techniques.
However, upon further reflection, since he was meant to follow the Extreme Yang Path, it would be best to cultivate the Righteous Cultivation Technique that was opposite to Demonic Arts in order to balance Yin and Yang. Practicing Evil Techniques would be more harmful than beneficial.
"Neither the extreme Yang arts nor the Rushing Thunder Sword involves the true utilization of Heaven and Earth’s Elemental Energy. It appears that I must join a powerful Righteous Path Sect to receive guidance to genuinely cultivate the Extreme Yang Cultivation Technique," Lin Xin mused to himself.
He took out a map and spread it out on the ground in front of him.
The entire region of Qiushi and its surroundings were drawn on the map.
Qiushi was on the left, occupying two-thirds of the area. Lin Xin’s finger lightly slid from Qiushi to the right, across a small stretch of sea, landing on two other red dots.
Next to these red dots were neatly pasted labels with inscriptions.
They read: Tiancheng and Stepping Sea Cliff.
"Tiancheng is under the jurisdiction of Shen Luo Mansion, and it is also the largest Righteous Path Sect near Qiushi. Stepping Sea Cliff, on the other hand, is a neutral island that reportedly holds sect recruitment events from time to time. There might be a chance to encounter a stronger sect than Shen Luo Mansion there."
Lin Xin had originally preferred to acquire cultivation techniques by force, but unlike the Underworld, this world contained Earth Immortal experts and even more powerful beings in hiding.
The Jade Immortal Bow was still kept in his Sacred Body’s Storage Crystal, and he still couldn’t see through the refinement rules contained within it.
The cultivation methods acquired by force might suffice until reaching Human Immortal, but beyond that, he was completely in the dark.
Earth Immortal, Heavenly Immortal, Golden Immortal—the information he had collected over the years indicated that the depths of this human realm were extraordinarily profound.
This place faintly connected to the Heavenly Realm and also served as the main chessboard for many Primordial beings’ games.
He carefully calculated and organized his trump cards.
Setting aside the unpredictable Purifying Force, the sum of all his powers was enough for a surprise attack to kill an expert at the Human Immortal level.
You should know that the spatial stability here was much better than in the Underworld, and the Heaven and Earth’s Elemental Energy was much more intense, causing great resistance when transmitting forces through air.
Even now, with an average physical strength of eight thousand points, he was barely able to cause spatial fluctuations and tremors; breaking through space was simply a pipe dream.
"First, I need to stabilize the family, and then I must quickly choose a sufficiently powerful major sect," Lin Xin resolved in his mind.
"And then there’s that matter entrusted by Xia. He gave me the technology to collect Soul Power; I don’t know if he meant well or not... For now, I’ll stay away from that designated young man, especially since he didn’t specify when to find him."
Confirming that he remained at the peak of Human Immortal, Lin Xin did not rashly test his actual combat strength but instead quietly dismantled the formation and returned to the Training Tower in the small town.
People arranged by Lin Yaoyang were already waiting for him there.
Without any unnecessary words, Lin Xin quickly took several task assignments in one direction, leading his team to rush off.
********************
Half-Day Canyon.
The most perilous area within the Lin Family’s defensive region.
The frequency and intensity of the Demon Spirits causing trouble are among the highest in all of Qiushi. Lin Shaonan, the head of a branch family, had led people to defend this place year-round, blocking the route for the Demon Spirits moving south towards the main family.
In a large, dense black forest, Lin Xin led a team of riders on uniform chestnut horses, moving toward the canyon at a steady pace.
The team, including Lin Xin himself, comprised eleven people. To support the branch family, they had traveled hundreds of li through the mountains overnight using Godspeed Talismans.
Now that they were close to their destination, they gradually slowed down to recover some of their energy.
In the distance, they could faintly see a grey-black earth fortress emerging in and out of sight.
Lin Xin squinted his eyes, looking ahead; he could distinctly feel the increasingly intense surging air.
That was the scent of the Demon Spirits.
"The Half-Day Canyon is right ahead. Everyone, be sharp,"
he called out loudly.
All the members of the team were of Lin Xin’s generation, all young people, among them were two familiar faces:
Lin Youke and the chubby Lin Jiaheng.
Both had changed since childhood; one grew increasingly graceful and stunning, with long hair draped over her shoulders, wearing a tight white dress that made her even more enchanting, especially her long legs, encased in a white miniskirt. The hem of her skirt moved with the ups and downs of the horse, occasionally revealing the mysterious contours inside.
Lin Jiaheng had transformed into a robust man, carrying a broad-bladed sword over two meters long on his back.
At the moment, he was walking beside Lin Youke, his small eyes occasionally unable to resist glancing at the girl’s legs.
Not just him, the rest of the young men in the team were similar. Even the most traditional recorder, Lin Zhou, appeared somewhat embarrassed and red-faced.
Almost everyone’s gaze secretly fell on Lin Youke from time to time; however, her gaze seemed rather resentful as she looked at Lin Xin.
Lin Sherie was riding a horse ahead of her, motionless, without any intention of looking back at her.
She had always admired this Master Sherie, known as a prodigy from a young age. Moreover, being someone with ambitions, hooking up with Lin Sherie to enter the main family was the best way for her to break free from her parents’ control. Unfortunately....
"Right, Lin Shaonan, the family head, is your father, isn’t he, Youke?" Lin Xin didn’t turn around as he spoke directly.
"Yes," Lin Youke nodded, "The mission is to assist Half-Day Canyon in repelling the Demon Spirit beast tide. Already, two groups of experts from the main family have come before, but it seems like...."
Lin Xin squinted his eyes, faintly smelling a hint of blood. He shook the reins sharply, speeding up. "Aren’t you worried about your parents?"
He asked casually.
A flash of resentment sparkled in Lin Youke’s beautiful eyes.
"I believe my father will be fine."
Lin Xin had also heard that the branch family head, Lin Shaonan, valued beauty above life itself, using the pretext of purifying the bloodlines; anyone with a bit of attractiveness, regardless of age, had been taken to his bed for a "test". If not for his exceptional strength and courage, he would likely have been removed from his position by Lin Hao long ago.
Seeing Lin Youke’s reaction now, it seemed this daughter must have left the branch family early for training, or else she too would have suffered at his hands.
"There’s more than one task to handle, swift fight, swift conclusion."
Lin Xin increased his speed.
The rest followed closely, rushing towards the entrance of the canyon.
As they approached, waves of shouting and killing gradually wafted over, the screams of men and beasts mixed together along with the sounds of spells and weapons colliding, creating a chaotic noise that was hard to discern.
Lin Xin took out a longsword from his storage ring and spurred his horse into a gallop.
The sounds of shouting grew closer and louder.
Soon, an earth fortress at the mouth of the canyon finally came into view for everyone.
The shouts and killing were coming from in front of the fortress.
They saw the battered back of the fortress, where a few heavily injured guards were propping up their bodies to guard the entrance.
Seeing the Lin Family insignia on the uniforms of the team, the guards were overjoyed, waving their hands continuously.
The iron gate in the middle of the fortress slowly lifted, revealing the scene inside the canyon.
Countless dense, black creatures were entangled in battle with the Lin Family descendants.
Bodies, flesh, and limbs were scattered everywhere.
Looking further inside, one could see a wild-haired, burly man guarding the mouth of the fortress, engaged in combat with a half-man, half-bull black creature.
Both were extremely fast and strong, one wielding a giant sword and the other a long halberd, with their weapons clashing and occasionally sparking black, flame-like energy.
Lin Xin narrowed his eyes and gripped the sword hilt in his hand.
The horse’s speed increased, faster and more urgent.
Whether he could harvest Soul Power and accumulate Free Attribute Points would all depend on the experience now.
