Chapter 556 - 550 Peerless 3

Chapter 556: Chapter 550 Peerless 3

Departing from the Qiushi Region and heading west, there lay a vast desert, whereas to the south, a boundless ocean stretched as far as the eye could see. For the time being, Lin Xin had no thoughts of leaving home to explore. It was said that there were huge mountains of the Continental Immortal Mountain across the sea, but whether this was true was unclear.

Having returned home, he continued to grasp the Black Sword and devoted himself to arduous cultivation practice.

Lin Hao didn’t know where from, but he had managed to find a few more Thunder Sword talismans for him, thus removing any obstacles he had in advancing to the higher levels of the Rushing Thunder Sword technique.

Every day, apart from eating, drinking, and sleeping, he was constantly engaged in rigorous sword training. Occasionally, he would sneak out to purchase or find some treasures of the Thunder and Lightning System, serving as his source of energy for cultivation.

Lin Xin’s reputation gradually began to fade from people’s sight and thus was slowly forgotten.

His cultivation also continued to advance, becoming unfathomably deep, reaching a level unknown to others.

And so he repeated his days in this monotonous and tasteless manner.

With the passing of time, Lin Xin also reached the age of fourteen. His sister Lin Yaoyang’s seal inheritance ceremony had been delayed time and time again due to insufficient preparations, but was finally about to begin.

The Lin Family’s branch families and many subordinate forces, as well as various major families from the Punishing World Council, all sent representatives to observe the ceremony.

*******************

It was bustling outside the window.

Lin Xin sat upright in the quiet room, with a slightly black longsword, resembling a dagger, resting on his knees. His eyes were half-closed, and his breathing was exceptionally long and steady.

Hearing the noise outside, Lin Xin frowned almost imperceptibly.

"It’s getting noisier lately," he opened his eyes and looked toward the window, which had only a sliver of space open.

Outside, people were constantly coming and going and carriages were passing without end. Occasionally, children would run around and shout.

Exhaling softly, he stood up, sheathed the Black Dagger sword at his lower back, and then pushed the door open to leave.

The door creaked.

Immediately upon opening the door, the light brightened significantly.

Two guards had already been waiting outside; upon seeing him emerge, they promptly bowed.

"Young Master, there are still two hours until the Miss’s inheritance ceremony begins," one guard said.

"What’s with these people? The ceremony isn’t being held here, is it?" Lin Xin asked calmly.

"Reporting back to the Young Master, these are representatives from families well-acquainted with our Lin Family and the Punishing World Council who have come to offer congratulations. Additionally, the Family Head instructed that once you come out, to go directly to him," one guard hurriedly replied.

"Understood."

Lin Xin nodded slightly and, without a glance at these strangers he didn’t recognize, headed straight towards the main pavilion.

*******************

Inside a reception hall of the main pavilion.

Lin Hao sat in the main seat with a smile, and below him was a white-robed middle-aged man with a goatee.

The middle-aged man had long hair draped over his shoulders and a handsome face, indicating that he must have been a top-tier handsome man in his youth.

Next to him sat a teenager in his teens.

The youth held a folding fan and had two short guns inserted behind his back. He was sturdy and well-built, with his hair tied in a ponytail. Although his eyes still held traces of youthful innocence, a faint presence could already be seen.

"Brother Shao, how many years has it been since we last saw each other? Thinking back to our younger and more vigorous days, it’s been over thirty years in a blink of an eye," Lin Hao said with a smile, holding a wine cup. "This must be your son, the Eagle Twin Guns Young Lord?"

The middle-aged man laughed, his eyes unable to conceal his pride.

"Exactly, my son. Brother Lin, you still look well after all these years. For this inheritance ceremony, I presume you’ve made thorough preparations?"

"To say prepared, I guess it’s about there," Lin Hao shook his head slightly, "This time I’ve invited all of you more as a way to get acquainted with each other, as the duties will eventually need to be handed over."

"Miss Yaoyang has extraordinary talent and is quite mature in conduct. She is suitable for taking on this great responsibility. But I also heard that brother has another child, named Lin Sherie..."

"Sherie is just of ordinary bloodline, although his gift is exceptional, he is ultimately..." Lin Hao said, his smile fading.

Thump, thump, thump.

"Family Head, Miss Yaoyang and Young Master Sherie have arrived," announced someone at the door.

"Let them in," Lin Hao said aloud.

Instantly, the door opened slowly, and Lin Yaoyang strode in confidently, leading the way. She wore a black mask that covered the lower half of her face.

She was dressed in a dark red tight-fitting outfit which accentuated her perfect slender waistline.

The lower half of her body wore a dark red split skirt similar to a cheongsam, barely revealing legs tightly clad in black silk that were shapely and slender.

What stood out most was the large black symbol embroidered from top to bottom on her outfit. It seemed to be a character, yet it also resembled a formation diagram.

Lin Sherie followed behind her with an expressionless face and a detached demeanor. His palm was always lightly gripping the hilt of the Black Sword at his lower back. He too had obviously inherited his parents’ excellent genes, with a handsome and almost flawless appearance, and a very proportionate physique.

When the two siblings stood together, just by their appearances, they were far more impressive than the Eagle Twin Guns.

"Father."

The two bowed to Lin Hao together.

Lin Hao only casually introduced the identity, this little bearded man in white robe, is one of the noble families that has a good relationship with the Lin Family, the Ling Family.

That young man named Ling Shaogong, as soon as he saw Lin Yaoyang, found it hard to move his gaze away, his mouth slightly open, his body leaning forward, clearly a bit flustered.

Both Lin Hao and the Ling Family Head saw this and could not help but smile understandingly. However, the original intent of calling people here was also clear.

Lin Hao planned to soon arrange a marriage for Yaoyang, for bearing the seal meant a shortened lifespan, and he needed to leave offspring as soon as possible.

As for Yaoyang, should there be someone suitable for Sherie, an arrangement could also be made directly.

The two adults had similar thoughts, having other matters to discuss as well, so they simply sent Ling Shaogong, Lin Yaoyang, and Lin Sherie out together, to take those young people from other noble families around the back mountain for a tour and enjoyment.

Lin Xin had no energy to waste time with them, halfway through he handed off Ling Shaogong entirely to his older sister and went back to his residence to practice cultivation alone.

In recent years, he had begun to correct the path of Formation Talismans, trying to apply the Formation Talismans of the Underworld to the Mortal Realm. With much to do, he truly had no time to play with these kids.

Time flew, and soon it was the afternoon hour.

After eating alone, Lin Xin remembered that the ritual would start soon, so he got up to bathe and change clothes.

Then he headed towards the attic.

Upon entering the attic, there were visibly fewer people by this time, evidently those who should have arrived had done so.

Moving along, when passing by the pond in the backyard, Lin Xin suddenly heard voices from the pavilion beside the pond.

It seemed to be a group of young boys and girls laughing and talking, discussing the past and present.

He glanced over, only to see Lin Shizaki mingling among a group of well-dressed youths, sitting in the pavilion, not knowing what they were talking about, but the atmosphere seemed pleasant.

In the pavilion.

A young man with an imposing air and a hint of nobility noticed Lin Xin passing by the corridor.

"Shizaki, who is that white-clothed person passing by? He has an extraordinary temperament and doesn’t seem like a nobody, why have I not seen him at your residence?" he asked softly.

"That’s my cousin, Lin Sherie," Lin Shizaki replied in a low voice. With several years passed, she had also become delicate and pretty, standing with graceful poise, a beauty in her own right.

At this moment, looking at Lin Xin, her eyes were somewhat complicated.

"Almost no one among our clan’s generation doesn’t know cousin Sherie. He was always unsociable, not interacting with us, living alone, and once the most dazzling genius among our cousins. But I have not seen him for a long time either, and I do not know how he has been recently."

"Why is that? Isn’t he your cousin? If he lives here, he must certainly be a member of the main family, so why have you seen him less?" another young lady in blue asked curiously. She was the primary heiress of the fifth noble family, the Sun Family, the eldest miss, Sun Yaojing.

In this group, Lin Shizaki of the first Lin Family, the ninth prince of the Imperial Clan, and Sun Yaojing of the Sun Family stood out the most. They were also objects of flattery and ingratiating behavior from the offspring of other smaller families.

"Because he hardly interacts with anyone, except sister Yaoyang," Lin Shizaki shook her head.

"I’ve heard that this cousin Sherie seems to be born of a different mother than Miss Yaoyang?" The ninth prince was the initial inquirer and subtly the leading figure here.

Lin Shizaki, although a Lin family member, did not possess the blood of the main family and was thus somewhat less influential compared to him.

"Yes, they are half-siblings with the same father but different mothers," Lin Shizaki nodded in reply. "But he is also of the pure main family bloodline, there’s no doubt about that."

"So, he is also one of the main characters for the Lin Family’s ritual?"

The ninth prince suddenly showed interest, casting a glance at Sun Yaojing.

Indeed, upon hearing ’main family bloodline’ and intentions of marital alliance, Sun Yaojing’s eyes clearly lit up with interest.

"Sister Shizaki, since he is your cousin, why not invite him to join us for fun? Later on, we are all going to the ritual together anyway, wouldn’t it be better to go together?"

Lin Shizaki slightly lowered her head, a shadow flickering across her eyes.

She had spent half the day trying to cozy up to Sun Yaojing and the ninth prince to close the distance with them, but with the arrival of Lin Sherie, they were effortlessly turned around, with Sun Yaojing taking the initiative to invite him over.

’So this is the blood of the main family... it really is... unfair.’

As merely common bloodlines that touched upon the name of the main family, they still garnered such regard from both individuals.

Her talent was extraordinary, a bearer of Secret Blood, yet she still did not compare to a mere main family bloodline status.

Lin Shizaki was a bearer of Secret Blood, and moreover, of extremely high concentration, a fact ascertained when she was just six years old.

This was also one of the reasons she was sent to the main family from a young age. Because her Secret Blood concentration was close to that of awakened main family members, her mother had proactively sent her to the main family, requesting her good friend Yuan Wanqing to take care of her to avoid trouble.

As she stood distracted, someone from the group had already gone to call Lin Sherie over.

From a distance, Lin Xin was seen in white clothing, his handsome features and cool demeanor, his eyes deep and dark like swirling vortices. His long hair was tied with a white ribbon and hung behind him, lending an ethereal quality to his presence.

The girl who went to call him was merely twelve or thirteen years old, a young lady from a minor family within the Zhushi Alliance. Though young, her figure and looks were already somewhat youthful and enticing, giving her the appearance of a girl-next-door.

Standing at the edge of the corridor, she first spoke a few words to Lin Xin.
