Eternal Swordmaster -
Chapter 529 - 523 Demon Sect Six
Chapter 529: Chapter 523 Demon Sect Six
"Red Flower Sword Devil, you have wantonly slaughtered the innocent, annihilated dozens of sects, severed numerous Taoist lineages, and committed grave sins. Today, we have come to arrest you, obedient to the decree of the Taoist Venerable. Do you have any objections?"
Although Lin Shan had known it wouldn’t be easy to deal with the opponent, she couldn’t help but feel a chill in her heart at this moment—the myriad Qiushui she had used just moments ago hadn’t been effective at all, and the opponent even had the surplus energy to protect the Elder beside him!
"The great trends of the world honor the strong. If you have the strength to capture me, why not do so?" Lin Xin said, a wry smile on his face.
He gently squeezed the black sphere in his hand.
Pfft!
The entire sphere burst apart, transforming into countless black threads that burrowed into the spatial fissures all around, cast into the depths of the Illusory Sea.
Guan Mingyue, however, had already faintly grasped something and looked at Lin Shan with a wry smile.
"Heavenly Cloud Taoist Lin Shan, it’s been a long time."
It was only then that Lin Shan’s gaze fell upon him.
"You are? Guan Mingyue?!" She seemed to recognize the person, her expression somewhat surprised.
"I’ve been indebted to you since you once did me a favor, and I dare not forget it to this day," Guan Mingyue said, shaking his head with a smile of helplessness. "You shouldn’t have come."
Lin Shan’s heart skipped a beat.
Back when the Immortal Alliance still existed, she and Guan Mingyue had a cooperative relationship, and she had even saved his life.
This man knew her true strength best, yet she had not expected him to come along with Lin Xin this time.
"What do you mean?"
Guan Mingyue ignored her, instead turning to look at Lin Xin.
"Sect Master, in consideration of this old man, could you perhaps spare Heavenly Cloud Taoist?"
"Why would Elder Guan say such a thing?" Lin Xin replied with a smile, "If it were someone else, it might not matter, but since you, Elder, have spoken, this sect naturally complies."
Lin Shan’s expression darkened, a vague sense of unease growing within her.
There was something subtle about the aura of Lin Xin before her; it didn’t match the information she had been given. He was far stronger than reported, and also much too composed.
From him, she sensed a faint shadow of the Yin Extreme True Monarch.
"Yin Extreme? How could that be possible? How could such a level be reached so easily?" Lin Shan thought to herself with a rueful laugh, her gaze inadvertently drifting towards the others.
Qian Yunzi from the Shape-shifting Cave was brewing something silently, his aura hidden.
The pair from Jade Casket Palace intertwined their horsetail whisks, with points of spiritual light leaking out around them. Standing opposite each other, they gently kissed.
Boom!
A series of pink halos radiated brightly around them, enveloping them completely, concealing their forms.
And Lin Xin didn’t even try to block them. Smiling as if enjoying a performance, he stood with his hands folded behind him, watching the others ready their powerful techniques.
Somewhat inexplicably,
Lin Shan’s sense of foreboding grew stronger.
****************
Heavenly Cloud Path
The tall and imposing Taoist Venerable sat in the highest seat, and beneath the white jade helmet was a vast expanse of white mist, as if there were no face at all.
Below him were several sect Elders who had just hurriedly arrived.
The Taoist Venerable extended his hand, and a large diamond-shaped crystal stone rotated slowly in his palm, revealing the far-off situation where Lin Shan and others were located.
"This is the new Sect Master of Yuan Dou Demon Sect, the Red Flower Sword Devil Lin Xin. What opinions do you have?" enquired the Taoist Venerable in a resounding voice.
A few Elders exchanged glances below.
"Since Daoist Lin Shan is present and the Taoist Venerable has commanded, it should be foolproof," one of them stated indifferently.
"May I ask what matter has caused the Taoist Venerable to summon us?" another asked, somewhat impatient.
The Taoist Venerable lowered his head to face the crystal, as if gazing intently at Lin Xin within it.
After a while, he finally spoke slowly.
"I have summoned you to select a successor for the position of Daoist."
"???"
The crowd was momentarily startled, seemingly not understanding what the Taoist Venerable meant.
An Elder hesitated before asking,
"Forgive my directness, but who is the next Daoist that the Taoist Venerable is referring to...?"
"Isn’t Daoist Lin Shan still alive?"
"Indeed, Daoist Lin Shan has been the most outstanding candidate for Daoist in a hundred years. It’s hardly appropriate to change at this time," several Elders were bewildered.
The Taoist Venerable shook his head slightly.
"As of this mission, Lin Shan no longer has any hope of returning alive," he said.
He gently lifted the crystal stone in his hand.
"He has discovered me."
The Elders were taken aback, looking into the crystal.
All they saw was Lin Xin’s gaze piercing through the crystal, as if he directly saw the distant crowd.
Whish!
A red light shot out from the crystal, landing in the center of the great hall and transforming into a human figure.
Lin Xin stood at the center of the great hall, his back carrying five longswords, and looking at the Heavenly Cloud Taoist Venerable impassively with folded arms.
Suddenly, he gave a slight smile and began slowly walking towards the Taoist Venerable, one step at a time.
The Taoist Venerable’s helmet moved slightly as he extended his hand towards Lin Xin.
Boom!!
Lin Xin burst into flames, his entire body releasing black and red liquid-like flames as he walked, as if he felt nothing, continuing towards the Taoist Venerable.
Bang!!
Under the clash of spiritual pressure, Lin Xin exploded instantly.
The crystal too vaporized, disappearing from the Taoist Venerable’s palm.
"Is this... psychic projection!!?" an Elder exclaimed in shock. "Could it be Yin Extreme?!!"
"No..."
the Taoist Venerable said gravely.
"He’s just stuck at the critical point."
"But even so, he is beyond Lin Shan’s ability to contend with! No good, we must notify the Daoist immediately!!"
Several Elders instantly became agitated. Their faces changed color.
"And the Society Cloud Cauldron! We must ensure it remains secure, otherwise..."
The Taoist Venerable looked at the somewhat panicking Elders.
"There’s no need. It’s already too late..."
The entire great hall suddenly fell silent.
Just a moment ago, everyone sensed that Lin Shan’s Soul Lamp in the Soul Palace had been extinguished in an instant.
A bone-chilling coldness silently began to spread through the great hall.
****************
Drip-drip...
Blood slowly fell, splattering on the surface of the boots.
Lin Xin’s hand slowly withdrew from Lin Shan’s back.
The blood stained her clothes red, but not a single drop touched Lin Xin’s palm.
A large, round hole was clearly visible at the front of Lin Shan’s chest, and from the front, one could see through to her back.
Her face was deathly pale; her head lowered, as if she couldn’t believe she was actually dying.
She had no idea how she had been hit.
She hadn’t even felt a blur before her eyes, just a pain in her chest, and everything seemingly happened by its own accord.
Not even her Protective Aura or the Society Cloud Cauldron’s protection could withstand this sudden change.
It wasn’t just her; even the others hadn’t figured out what had happened.
The pair from Jade Clear Path were still accumulating Spiritual Energy, Qian Yunzi of the Shape-shifting Cave had only released half his Cursed Seal, when suddenly, he lost his target.
Both parties were so distressed they nearly vomited blood; the force without an outlet to unleash became a pressure upon themselves.
"What in the world..."
Lin Shan’s face was rigid as she slowly fell forward.
Lin Xin stood quietly in her original spot, his palm as white and pristine as jade, as if it had never been touched by blood. Instead, he wore a smile as he looked toward the group of cultivators behind the great cauldron, and among them, the three figures of Hong Gui.
"Such a pity... She was still so young. She had such a grand future ahead of her..."
He said in a low voice, filled with regret.
"Yet she died just like that..."
Hong Gui’s face was full of blood, the result of blood rushing to his face in a single moment.
"Shan’er...!"
In that instant, no one had seen how Lin Xin had gotten behind Lin Shan.
His speed was too fast; everyone was completely unable to react.
Coupled with an extremely terrifying force, he punched through Lin Shan’s back in an instant. Even before the pain signals reached her nerves, her chest had been completely penetrated, annihilating her soul.
Ah!!
The Fourth Jade Maiden suddenly screamed, her body bursting into a mass of clear light, attempting to escape and vanish.
Boom!!!!
Lin Xin punched from behind her, striking hard on her head.
Gore flew in all directions.
The True Monarch was as defenseless as an ordinary person; she didn’t even have the chance to initiate her Teleportation Escape Technique, and in less than the blink of an eye, it was abruptly halted.
Her head exploded like a watermelon, with red and white pulp and fragments splattering all over the faces of Hong Gui and the Jade Casket Palace Master.
Dah dah dah dah dah dah...
Hong Gui’s teeth were chattering, his upper and lower jaws knocking against each other uncontrollably.
What kind of power was this???!
The Fourth Jade Maiden was killed right before his eyes, without a Soul Substitute Bead, dying silently just like that.
Even the Teleportation Escape Technique was no match for the opponent’s speed.
"No... don’t kill me...!"
He began to step back, his complexion ashen, sweat flowing down from his forehead and back, soaking his clothes.
Every muscle in his body began to tremble uncontrollably.
He had lived for thousands of years, and could hardly remember how long it had been since he last felt such a threat of death.
The Jade Casket Palace Master gave a bitter smile and raised his hand.
"Sect Master Lin, I wonder if I might be accepted in surrender?"
As soon as the last note of his plea landed, a white arm slowly hovered beside his face.
And the Lin Xin right in front of him slowly dissipated, it turned out to be just an afterimage.
The Jade Casket Palace Master’s sweat broke out all at once.
If he had spoken just a little slower, his fate would have been decapitation.
Boom!!!
Massive force, compressed to the extreme, roared past his temple, striking fiercely into a group of cultivators near the Heavenly Cloud Path Society’s Society Cloud Cauldron.
Without a shred of suspense, hundreds of cultivators blew apart, and before the shockwave could dissipate, the clouds behind them tore open, revealing a black pit on the earth’s surface, deep and bottomless.
"Sect Master!"
Guan Mingyue called out loudly from a distance, his expression urgent. He caught Lin Shan’s corpse and was now attempting to save her life.
"Don’t worry."
Lin Xin’s expression remained unchanged as he retracted his hand. This was the result of all his Attributes being piled onto lethality and defense during this period.
Having annihilated so many cultivators during this time, he had accrued a considerable number of Attribute points. A whopping total of more than three thousand points, which he divided, increasing lethality and defense each by more than one thousand eight hundred points.
His speed and power had now reached a level that even he found difficult to adapt to.
As soon as he made a move, his entire being would instantly step into a completely different world of stasis.
In that world, everything is at a standstill.
He alone could move.
This was absolute power, a qualitative change in speed.
And due to the increase in his Attributes, the cultivation of his Yuan Dou Demonic Technique and the condensing of his Sacred Body had reached an extremely terrifying level.
