Chapter 517: Chapter 511 Desolate Vault Four
To breakthrough to the Ninth Layer, one must first endure the gnawing of Jiuqu Demon Worms with their bodies, allowing them to gnaw sufficiently before spitting out a substance to nourish the demon body.
To achieve a higher level of accomplishment.
This layer is frankly a matter of life and death, where even the slightest mishap entails death and obliteration.
"No wonder Huang Yuan has been unable to take this step... hey!"
However, Lin Xin didn’t care, as the Yuan Dou Demonic Technique had always been suppressed by his attribute ability, its power unremarkable, but that didn’t mean it was weak.
As one of the supreme body cultivation demonic arts in the Central Prefecture and considered top-tier except for a few elite cultivation techniques, how could this demonic art be simple or weak?
Lin Xin had roughly estimated that the Yuan Dou Demonic Technique could enhance strength, speed and defensive power, in three aspects.
However, evasion and recovery were somewhat lacking, necessitating the use of other techniques for compensation.
Thus, within the sect, he found many other top-tier demonic techniques, such as the Divine Wood Demonic Technique, Sun-Changing Decree, and Life Emperor Technique, to enhance recovery abilities and compensate for the shortcomings.
But he was different, possessing an innate physique due to his own attribute, clearly compensating for this aspect.
His recovery ability had even reached a state close to immortality.
"Once the Yuan Dou Demonic Technique condenses the Sacred Body, it can use the body cultivation as a foundation to instantly expand the strength by several times. I haven’t yet succeeded in condensing the Sacred Body, but I can withstand attacks meant for a Sacred Body."
Lin Xin’s thoughts raced quickly.
"If with my current physical condition, I base it on this to achieve the Demon God Sacred Body, how strong could its power ultimately be?"
He himself was extremely eager to find out.
The power of the Sacred Body mainly depends on the cultivator’s own strengths. Generally, it’s about double the cultivator’s own physical quality.
This realm is the key to distinguishing the excellence of cultivation techniques.
Typically, demonic techniques double the strength, and tripling it is considered very powerful; of course, this includes a considerable refinement of innate runes.
And to reach four or five times is horrifyingly powerful.
Like the Yuan Dou Demonic Technique, which belongs to the elite, capable of reaching four times the level.
Thinking about condensing the Sacred Body and having his entire physical quality attributes instantly amplifying fourfold, the power it would entail.
Lin Xin was also irresistibly excited.
"The Eighth Layer involves condensing the Divine Heart, which would then form the initial state of the Sacred Body. The only thing I lack is the Demon God Pool, but to reach the Divine Heart, I need a vast amount of spiritual power."
As he dodged the pursuit of the black lines, he delved deep into thought.
For any other cultivator, evading these tactics was extremely difficult.
But for Lin Xin, his body innately could easily avoid the spatial attacks of the Jiuqu worms.
This terrifyingly strong premonition of crisis turned what should have been a perilous trial into a meaningless play.
"My spiritual power, boosted by my attributes, is already sufficient; even if not enough, it wouldn’t be far off. The Eighth Layer first needs to nurture and strengthen the spirit, then attempt to condense the Divine Heart. I can save a lot of time compared to other cultivators at the Eighth Layer!"
With his mind gradually clearing, Lin Xin ceased to entangle with the black lines and lightly stepped forward, shooting toward the distance.
At this movement, suddenly a mysterious fluctuation stirred up in the air, as if he had stirred up a hornet’s nest.
The countless black lines hanging in the sky, the numerous Jiuqu Demon Worms, all crazily rushed toward him as if mad.
The dense black lines instantly surged toward the central Lin Xin like a tangled mass.
Being able to freely traverse space, they were not afraid of getting tangled up.
Where the mass of lines passed, the sky slowly was gnawed away, creating clusters of black voids.
From these voids, the horrifyingly strong gravitational pull of the Illusory Sea burst forth.
Yet, Lin Xin moved as if he had foreseen it all, easily avoiding every black line and Jiuqu worm that pounced, darting through empty spaces.
Given their straightforward, trick-free nature, these demon worms, unlike cultivators who were troublesome and difficult to dodge, allowed him to rely almost entirely on his evasion attribute, easily managing without concerning himself with his surroundings, lost in his own thoughts.
If it had been a cultivator or an intelligent being, he might have been somewhat wary, as they have many tactics, and even with premonition, it might not be easy to know how to dodge to avoid them.
But these worms were different.
Time ticked seconds and minutes away.
Unconsciously, a day and night passed.
Lin Xin still floated lightly, seemingly about to be hit each time, but just missing by that little bit.
The largest of the Jiuqu worms was also becoming somewhat weary, slowing down its movements, seemingly conceding that this prey was uncatchable, even starting to lose spirit.
Another day and night passed, and all the Jiuqu worms gradually showed signs of weakness. Some of the smaller black lines began to break away from the attack, no longer pursuing, and again started to float lazily in the air as they did at the beginning.
Time continued to fly by.
Finally, the largest black line slowly stopped, emitting an unwilling hiss, and turned to leave the area.
After chasing for so long without even catching a glimpse of the shadow of their enemy, its low intelligence seemingly concluded that perhaps everything was just an illusion, and it simply left of its own accord.
As it left, the other worms also flew away one after another, no longer in pursuit.
Lin Xin’s figure gradually slowed down, eventually halting midair, motionless.
With not a single pursuing black line around, even the nearest Jiuqu worm a few meters away lazily remained motionless, no longer chasing him.
Although close at hand, there was no movement at all.
"The rune patterns I saw earlier..." Lin Xin’s eyes flickered. During this time, with his expertise in the Formation Talisman, he had memorized most of the rune patterns engraved on the body of the Blackline Jiuqu worms.
"It seems I need to capture some of these worms and study them closely," he said, suddenly flipping a small crimson flag into his hand.
"Having waited so long, these foolish worms don’t even know what they’re chasing. Luckily, now they’re all exhausted, ha ha ha! It’s truly effortless!"
Suddenly, a burst of laughter came from a distance.
"If it weren’t for the young master’s ingenious plan to activate all the nearby Blackline Jiuqu worms, we might not have been able to wear them out so quickly!" another person complimented, speaking in ghostly language.
Lin Xin frowned slightly and looked in the direction of the voices.
He saw a cloud approaching from afar, upon which stood a group of people, all in silver and golden armor, holding pristine weapons such as long spears. Leading them was a huge war chariot drawn by several black dragon-headed beasts.
Atop it stood a young man in white, holding a feathered fan, with a hawk’s beak and a human’s face, clearly not of the Human Race.
However, next to him stood several Human Race beauties, all clad in translucent fabrics, practically naked, each with an expressionless face, obviously not there by choice.
"Is there actually a Human Race member here!?" The group seemed to only just notice Lin Xin, looking over in surprise.
"A Human Race member appearing in the heart of the Demon God Ruins might have a great secret!" The hawk-beaked young man’s expression shifted.
"Being able to survive among these rampaging Jiuqu worms, he must not be just anybody. Sheng Tumi, go and capture him," he said.
A person in golden armor by his side acknowledged, then turned towards Lin Xin and suddenly reached out. A golden light flashed in his palm, showing a golden eye aimed at Lin Xin.
Meanwhile, the hawk-beaked young man quickly began to collect the Jiuqu worms, using a black clay pot. With a gentle shake toward the Jiuqu worms, countless Blackline worms floundered weakly and were all sucked into the clay pot.
The Jiuqu magic worms were indestructible and also immortal, able to traverse space at will, but they were not invincible. If a magic artifact was designed with a space in the shape of an endlessly looping bead, they could be trapped indefinitely.
These magic worms were of low intelligence, only chewing at the weakest parts of space, unable to change. With a bit of guidance, they could be made to travel endlessly within the magic artifact, never breaking out.
Lin Xin was hit by the golden eye’s rays, but did not move much, instead watching the other side with interest.
After understanding the principle of the magic artifact, he just stood still, letting the golden eye cast streams of golden beams on him.
"Eh?"
Suddenly, he was slightly startled. The golden light was actually like sulfuric acid on his Demonic Qi and Demonic Arts, possessing a strong corrosive melting property.
It seemed to be specifically designed to counter his cultivation techniques.
But his body had reached an extreme level of horror, with a resistance of two thousand points. Despite the irradiation by the golden light, he was unharmed.
"Interesting!" Lin Xin felt that the force of the golden light was dissimilar to everything in the Underworld, as it contained a strong upright and formidable force, and had a severe suppressive and corrosive power.
However, his Demonic Qi also had a suppressive effect on the other side, as suppression was mutual.
"Completely opposite energy nature... This place... could it be not the Underworld?"
Lin Xin suddenly thought of this possibility, his heart trembling.
But why did the other side speak in the ghostly language?
He was again puzzled.
"It’s ineffective?!" The hawk-beaked young man naturally saw the effect here, and was slightly stunned to see the golden eye had no effect. He showed no sign of fear, instead laughing loudly.
"Very well! No wonder you could step into this place; turns out you’re a person of the ghostly tribe. Men, capture him alive for me! These people of the ghostly tribe have extremely cold constitutions, perfect for refining Human Pills for the Mother Queen!"
A group of soldiers immediately stirred into action, having collected all the Jiuqu magic worms by now, and the nearby sky was emptied.
The group of soldiers in golden and silver armor brandished their weapons and charged toward Lin Xin.
"Human Pills?" Lin Xin’s eyes narrowed; he was even more puzzled about what kind of realm this was.
The Illusory Sea contained countless worlds; he had no clear idea where he was.
However, these people were weak, carrying only some impressive-looking weapons and armor, merely at the Golden Core realm, posing no threat.
It was a good opportunity to capture them for a Soul Search and interrogation.
Thinking this, he reached out towards the group of soldiers and made a grabbing motion.
Buzz!
Infinite black Qi surged wildly, forming a huge hand a hundred meters wide above the heads of the soldiers, fiercely grabbing at the group.
The enormous hand, composed entirely of Desolate Vault demonic Qi, was churning tremendously, causing all the nearby space to violently shake and twist.
Seeing this, the hawk-beaked young man was first taken aback, then seemed to remember something.
"No... no, that’s not a ghostly human. It’s the Purgatory Demon Head from the Underworld!" he exclaimed, suddenly panicking and turning to flee.
Hearing ’Purgatory Demon Head,’ the rest of the soldiers also showed ashen faces and began running, their cloud-riding speeds embarrassingly slow.
They were caught by the demonic hand in a few moments.
Puff puff puff puff!
In a series of sounds of exploding flesh and blood, Lin Xin was astonished to see the patches of blood on his giant hand.
He hadn’t even exerted much effort, and these people were already dead.
