Chapter 512: Chapter 506: Overwhelming 11
Yuan Dou Demon Sect, comprised of two cities, three sects, and eighteen peaks.
Wuding Mountain stands as the headquarters, where the Yuan Dou Demon Palace is located atop the mystical Floating Mountain that has been passed down through generations in the sect.
The two cities lie deep underground and are secretly managed by reclusive Elders. Topping these are Bai Suozi and Yin Pengzi, both True Monarchs who serve as Underground City Lords.
The three sects belong to the Outer Sect; however, they are the most perfected talent screening institutions. Every year, they send top talents to the demon sect\’s two cities.
The eighteen peaks are each unique regional mountain cave mansions. Although each cave mansion is not considered a sect, they all follow a tradition of one disciple per generation.
Yet each of the eighteen peaks possesses its own rare and unparalleled skills and acts as a special department that handles various peculiar matters for the Yuan Dou Demon Sect, being deemed special talents.
The leaders of the eighteen peaks represent them.
Along the way, Lin Xin chatted casually with the secondary supervisor and eventually clarified the vast structural system of the Yuan Dou Demon Sect.
Wuding Mountain supervises the organization consisting of two cities, three sects, and eighteen peaks below.
The two cities are on par with the three sects and eighteen peaks; the entire sect comprises a complex and intertwined force that covers most of the Central Prefecture, Eastern Prefecture, and Northern Prefecture. It can be described as a hidden behemoth.
"So, to visit Wuding Mountain, do we need to head to one of the two cities first to be transported there through the Gate of the Origin Mother?"
In the azure half-sky.
Monks from Yuan Dou Demon Sect were flying at a high speed, with Lin Xin wrapped in a cloud of demonic Qi, standing on a black stone, and looking at the secondary supervisor beside him.
"Indeed, now that Wuding Mountain is located too far away in the boundless sea of clouds and is difficult to pinpoint, the only way is to teleport there through one of the two cities," the secondary supervisor’s eyes flickered as he replied softly.
"Furthermore, if the Crown Prince wishes to initiate the Sect Master usurpation ceremony, he also needs recognition from the two cities. We must first overcome the established trials in the two cities to truly qualify for the challenge," he continued to explain.
"That makes sense," Lin Xin nodded, "If just anyone could challenge the Sect Master, then the Sect Master wouldn’t need to conduct any duties and could just sit back and wait for challenges every day."
"However," he changed the tone and smiled, "If someone’s strength directly surpasses that of the Sect Master, naturally, they wouldn’t need to go through any so-called trials, right?"
The secondary supervisor wore a strange expression, not knowing how to respond.
The other monks also acted as if they heard nothing, silent as cicadas in winter. Getting involved in such a serious matter of contesting for the Sect Master could mean death without leaving any bones.
Nan Shunqing could also see the immense power his teacher held now; this secondary supervisor’s cultivation likely wasn’t less than Golden Core, but in front of his teacher, he couldn’t even speak freely.
It seemed that the sect his teacher had joined was the Yuan Dou Demon Sect; as for where the Pine Forest Sword Sect stood, that would depend on what his teacher thought.
Thinking this, Nan Shunqing also looked at the little girl Yun’er standing beside.
Ever since Yun’er woke up, she seemed to be out of her senses. Her father’s corpse had already been cremated and placed in a box in her arms.
Yun’er seemed to have developed a deep hatred for his teacher, frequently directing resentful glances at him.
"Sigh..." Nan Shunqing sighed helplessly. He didn’t know how to handle this little girl; it was obviously impossible to keep her by his side. As an ordinary girl with average aptitude, not to mention her resentment towards his teacher, even if she were given a cultivation decree, she wouldn’t be able to cultivate spiritual energy and could at most become an expert in internal arts.
"What, got soft-hearted?" Lin Xin noticed his disciple’s expression and couldn’t help but smile.
"I just don’t know what to do," Nan Shunqing said helplessly.
"You’ve saved her once, which was more than enough benevolence and righteousness. It’s already quite rare for a stranger to do so," Lin Xin’s smile faded, and he spoke blandly, "Next, you have to fulfill your promise to protect her from harm by the Qingxiu Sect; simply take her to a place where Qingxiu Sect can’t find her. She can live by herself."
"It can only be like this," Nan Shunqing nodded.
"I WANT TO CULTIVATE!!" Yun’er suddenly screamed. "You must teach me cultivation!! I want revenge!!"
Her beautiful eyes fixed directly on Nan Shunqing.
"If you guys are so powerful, why won\’t you seek revenge for me? To you, the Qingxiu Sect must be just a minor character, right?!"
Her expression became fierce, with a hint of distortion and malice.
"Isn’t this just a matter of lifting a hand? If you’re not willing to help even with this minor thing, then why did you save me at all? You might as well have let me die!"
Nan Shunqing was taken aback, and Lin Xin was also surprised by her bold and righteous way of spouting such twisted logic that could’ve killed her own father.
Born to be a calamity.
"Did you hear me!?" Yun’er grabbed Nan Shunqing’s collar and shook him vigorously.
"Otherwise, just give me a decree! Just guide me a bit in my cultivation, and I won’t depend on anyone else! I’ll take my own revenge!"
Even the Yuan Dou Demon Sect monks flying alongside were somewhat speechless.
This girl must have received very poor nurturing to have developed such a naive personality.
Nan Shunqing was also disappointed; he wasn’t a blindly nice person, but moved by sentiment when he saw the girl’s father entrust her care with his dying breath.
However, he hadn’t expected such an outcome.
"Should we kill her?" the secondary supervisor transmitted to Lin Xin. "There are many businesses under the Demon Sect, including plenty of brothels and music houses; with such a personality, surely many instructors would like to train her."
Lin Xin slightly shook his head, transmitting back.
"Just a non-potential kid. Just drop her somewhere later."
The secondary supervisor instantly understood.
He also gained a new perspective on this Crown Prince.
The land below them was continuous rolling wilderness, sparsely populated, where even a person with cultivation skills could easily face difficulties surviving, not to mention a mere teenage girl.
Being left there would be akin to feeding the demon beasts.
By this time, Nan Shunqing had completely given up on Yun’er. After pushing her away, he no longer paid any attention to her, instead turning to chat with a nearby Yuan Dou Demon Sect monk.
The group had been flying for about two hours, and it was gradually approaching the afternoon.
Only then did everyone press down the clouds, descending and stopping amidst a wild area filled with scattered rocks.
"This is Rotating Wheel City."
The secondary supervisor stood on a white rock and bowed to Lin Xin.
"Here?"
Lin Xin was startled but couldn’t see any tricks in this place.
Suddenly, he seemed to realize something and looked down at the ground.
Boom...
The rocks on the ground began to swirl like flowing water.
In the middle of the white rocky hill, an enormous vortex continuously appeared.
In the center of the vortex was a pitch-black tunnel.
Gazing into the tunnel, it seemed one could not see the bottom.
Lin Xin carefully observed the tunnel.
"Is this opening fixed?"
"No," the second manager shook his head. "Rotating Wheel City is continuously shifting deep underground, so its position changes every moment and is only temporary."
Lin Xin nodded slightly and turned his head back to glance at Yun’er, who was somewhat stunned by the grand sight.
"Take care of her, and let’s go."
Immediately, a cultivator stepped forward beside the second manager and grabbed Yun’er.
"Let go of me!" Yun’er suddenly panicked, coming to her senses and struggling loudly.
The cultivator casually knocked her out with a hand-chop.
"Take her to the nearby forest and leave her there,"
instructed the second manager.
The cultivator nodded, picked up Yun’er, flew away, and shot toward the distance.
Nan Shunqing watched the whole process silently, not uttering a word.
He had chosen to rescue her but hadn’t expected this outcome. Yun’er’s performance had somewhat disappointed him.
Yet recalling the promise he had made to that man before, he still turned his head towards the second manager.
"Young master, rest assured, when the entrance to Rotating Wheel City appears, no ferocious beasts will appear within a hundred miles for the next three days; that’s the usual practice,"
the second manager said with a smile.
"As for whether she survives in the end, that depends on her fate."
Three days was somewhat a grace period.
Nan Shunqing didn’t say any more.
But what he didn’t know was that the second manager had left out something else.
It’s true that no fierce beasts would appear nearby, but that’s because, after the entrance to Rotating Wheel City passes by, a mysterious poison gas will continuously disperse three days later, causing death.
Unless the girl could escape a hundred miles within three days, it was still a dead-end road for her.
After sending away Yun’er,
Lin Xin took the lead towards the center of the rock vortex, his figure emitting Demonic Qi, wrapping Nan Shunqing with him and entering the tunnel directly.
The second manager and others also entered one after another.
Inside the tunnel, it felt like walking inside a continuously twisting and turning kaleidoscope.
Around, the black walls initially had nothing, but as soon as people entered, they suddenly became colorful and shimmered like translucent crystal glass.
The entire circular tunnel extended downwards continuously, and after about ten breaths’ time,
Lin Xin landed at the bottom, standing steady.
The others also landed and steadied themselves.
Hiss...
The tunnel slowly disappeared, unveiling the scenery of another world outside.
A black night sky with stars scattered.
Lin Xin suddenly realized he was standing on a city wall, his feet on a pitch-black merlon, and below in front were dots of yellow and red lights from numerous homes.
The air faintly carried the scent of cooking smoke.
The second manager and the others were also standing on the nearby city wall.
This city wall was black, exceptionally hard when stepped on, and it was unclear what material it was made of.
Standing on the city wall looking down at the entire city, one could not see its edges but only the various dark architectural buildings within sight.
"Greetings, Lord Manager." A group of men and women dressed like military generals quickly ran up on the city wall, saw the second manager, and immediately knelt on one knee, performing a greeting with exceptional respect.
"At ease, this is the Crown Prince of our sect, His Highness Yuan Mo," the second manager introduced.
"Greetings, His Highness the Crown Prince!" the crowd hurriedly bowed again.
"Everyone, at ease. This here is Rotating Wheel City. I wonder, how many regular residents are there in this city?"
Lin Xin turned his head to look back, seeing an endless expanse of darkness.
A leading general stood up and replied,
"Around six hundred thousand people or so; due to constant attacks by earth beasts, it’s hard to keep track of the number of deaths and births. But it generally fluctuates within this range."
"Six hundred thousand..." Lin Xin was somewhat moved, that such a city built underground and constantly moving could accommodate six hundred thousand residents.
He had previously speculated that perhaps life existed underground, but he had never imagined that there really were people living in an underground city.
